Chapter 851: Chapter 851 How Can You Underestimate Me

Luo Ziling reacted quickly, and as soon as he sensed something was wrong, he immediately took his foot off.

Wuyue’s reaction was not any slower than his, and the moment Luo Ziling pressed the wrong pedal, Wuyue immediately hit the kill switch.

The car lost its power and quickly slowed down, and Luo Ziling’s foot also moved from the accelerator to the brake, pressing down hard.

As the car stalled, the power steering also failed, and after several heavy jolts from braking hard, it rapidly came to a stop.

Luo Ziling and Wuyue’s bodies uncontrollably lurched forward, quickly restrained by the seat belts.

“Sorry,” Luo Ziling apologized to Wuyue with a red face after the car stopped, “That was almost a big accident.”

“It’s okay, the worst case would have been to jump out, I trust your reflexes.” Wuyue wasn’t scared at all and even turned her head to give Luo Ziling an encouraging smile, “For the first time driving, it’s normal to hit the wrong pedal. What makes you better than most is that you were able to react immediately after pressing the wrong one and switch to the brake.”

The car’s top speed had been locked at sixty kilometers an hour, a speed at which a head-on collision with a building or another vehicle wouldn’t be too disastrous. After stalling, the car lost its kinetic energy and slowed down quickly, and with Luo Ziling pressing the brake, Wuyue didn’t feel too scared.

“Driving isn’t as simple as I thought,” Luo Ziling said with self-deprecating laughter, “Mixing up the brake and accelerator is a big deal.”

“With your reflexes, you’ll learn quickly.” Wuyue instructed Luo Ziling to switch the gear back to P, then try stopping and starting again.

Luo Ziling calmed himself down and took a few deep breaths before, following Wuyue’s instruction, pressing the brake, then started the car again. While still pressing the brake, he moved the gear to D and slowly released the brake.

As the car started moving slowly, Luo Ziling shifted his foot to the accelerator and attempted to pick up speed by pressing down.

The first time he pressed the accelerator, he pressed a bit too hard, causing the car to jerk, but Luo Ziling quickly took his foot off and then pressed the accelerator again. This time he controlled the force well, and the car smoothly sped up and drove forward.

After driving a distance, Luo Ziling prepared to turn the corner.

He couldn’t quite get the feel for the steering wheel angle, and turned too quickly at first, nearly scraping the guardrail, but luckily he reacted fast and adjusted the angle in time. The car finally made a safe U-turn and headed back.

At this time, the vicinity of the residential area had only a few cars passing by occasionally, which reduced Luo Ziling’s nervousness.

After driving steadily for a while, Luo Ziling became more confident and began to increase the speed even further.

However, due to the set speed limit, the car could not go faster than sixty kilometers per hour.

“Did I break the car from all that jerking around? Such a slow speed,” Luo Ziling, who wanted to drive faster, was a bit dumbfounded, “Isn’t this too slow?”

Wuyue gave Luo Ziling a glance, “I limited the speed because I was worried you might have an accident. After you drive a few more times, we can increase the speed.”

Luo Ziling had no choice but to give up.

After driving for a few minutes, Luo Ziling got the hang of it, and his foot naturally transitioned between the brake and accelerator.

“Turns out driving really isn’t that complicated,” Luo Ziling chuckled as he stopped the car, “It’s much simpler than learning acupuncture.”

Wuyue looked at Luo Ziling with some disdain for his smugness and gave him a glance before saying, “We can eat now, you drive back.”

Wuyue usually had an icy demeanor, but when she rolled her eyes, there was an indescribably charming expression in her eyes.

“Fine, I just hope I don’t crash into someone else’s house,” Luo Ziling joked before starting the car again and heading toward Ling Ruonan’s villa, still not forgetting to tease Wuyue, “Wuyue, you look pretty cute when you roll your eyes!”

“Stop talking nonsense and concentrate on driving,” Wuyue said, a bit annoyed and embarrassed.

The roads inside the community were much narrower, so Luo Ziling drove very carefully to avoid scraping the car or the guardrails, and thankfully made it back in front of Ling Ruonan’s house without incident.

When Luo Ziling parked the car in front of the house and turned the engine off, he turned to look at Wuyue and to his surprise, noticed blood on her hand. About to boast about his successful drive, he immediately asked in alarm, “Wuyue, what happened to your hand?”

“It’s nothing, I just bumped it and scratched the skin,” Wuyue shook her head as if it were no big deal.

“Wait here,” Luo Ziling said, dashing out of the car and into the house.

After a short while, he came out of the house and jumped back into the car.

“I’ll apply some medicine; it should heal completely in two days, and there won’t be any scars,” Luo Ziling said, taking Wuyue’s hand to treat the wound.

Poor Wuyue, at twenty-five or twenty-six, had never had her hand held by a boy. When Luo Ziling took her hand to apply the medicine, she blushed and her heartbeat quickened.

She struggled a bit, but after failing to pull away, resigned herself to having him treat her wound.

Luo Ziling meticulously applied medicine on Wuyue’s hand and wrapped it lightly before smiling at her and saying, “Wuyue, I’m really sorry, you were hurt because of me.”

“It’s just a scratch, not an injury,” Wuyue said, half laughing and half crying, raising her hand that Luo Ziling had just treated. “Don’t you think it looks ugly?”

“It does look a bit ugly, but you can remove the bandage tomorrow,” Luo Ziling grinned and said, “Join me for another driving practice some day.”

“That won’t be a problem,” Wuyue nodded in agreement. “With your quick learning, a few more lessons and you’ll be able to drive solo.”

“Looks like I’m pretty smart,” Luo Ziling couldn’t help but feel proud upon receiving Wuyue’s praise.

Which earned him yet another roll of her eyes.

When they returned to the house, Ling Ruonan and Yang Qingyin had already prepared dinner and were about to call them in to eat.

“Mom, Qingyin, I’ve just learned how to drive,” Luo Ziling boasted to the two women, “Wuyue just taught me how to drive, and I’ve already managed to drive the car back here from outside.”

“No way, that’s incredible?” Yang Qingyin seemed very surprised, “You learned to drive in less than half an hour?”

“How can you underestimate me? My mom passed all her good genes to me; of course, learning to drive is a breeze for me.”

That comment earned him a roll of the eyes from Yang Qingyin.

Ling Ruonan, on the other hand, was quite pleased.

“Then let Wuyue accompany you to practice a few more times, and after you’ve learned to drive, go get your license. Then you’ll be able to drive on your own. But remember, once you’ve learned, you must be careful and not just drive around recklessly. An accident would be serious, understood?”

“I will take to heart the teachings of Her Majesty The Queen Mother,” he said.

That earned him an eye roll from Ling Ruonan, while Yang Qingyin covered her mouth and laughed.
