The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 554: Just like in the game.
Chapter 554: Just like in the game.
Alix followed her plan perfectly, locating the nearest entrance to the hidden city which happened to be just two minutes away from the old Zhang mansion. It was inside the bathroom located on a children’s playground, and if her system had not scanned the entire city, she would not have known about it.
The moment she got onto one of the super bullet trains and mentioned her destination, the captain contacted her.
"Go back."
"No."
"It could be a trap meant to bring you out so that you can be captured." He said furiously.
Alix could literally feel his anger through the phone. This man was not one who was used to disobedience, when he gave a command, people jumped to do as he wanted. But, she did not care about his wants, she was determined to do as she pleased. The captain was only guarding her because of his own plans for vengeance. If he could, he would keep her in a castle like Rapunzel in the fairytale and ask her to let her hair down only for him until the day Genesis or Afaro showed up.
His needs were not going to determine how she lived out her life. An attack in one city by a system host of the dark side was an attack on every city of the world because if they succeeded in one, they would move on to the next looking to replicate the results. It would not be happening on her watch.
"I am not a precious flower being raised in a green house, captain, such flowers tend to wither and die quickly when they are brought out to face the harsh weather of the real world. I am a dragon, a creature of war, others will believe in me if they see that i can fight alongside them.
If i just hide and wait for them to fight for me, they will not respect me. You and i both know that in our world strength is respected more than most things."
The train came to a stop and she hopped out quickly. It’s then that she noticed she was not alone, there were others getting off from different carriages. Most of them were already armed with different weapons.
She recognized the twins quickly and no surprise, they came running up to her.
"Let me guess, you are here to watch my back." She said sarcastically.
There was no doubt in the back of her mind that the captain had sent them. Since she had not ended the call with him she directly expressed her displeasure to him.
"I do not need bodyguards."
"It’s not your choice Madam president, you can consider it a perk of your position. Since you will not stay home as ordered then I might as well make sure that you are protected."
In order not to hear more words of dissatisfaction from her, he ended the call.
Alix rolled her eyes. "Who has ever heard about a dragon needing bodyguards?" She muttered sullenly.
More than that, these twins did not necessarily listen to her orders, their loyalty was to the captain. If it was Mantis, she would happily oblige because their thoughts were often on the same page.
"So here is what’s going on above." One of the twins tapped a black watch on his hand and a hologram appeared.
In the hologram, Alix saw what could have once been a fantasy, a movie on television, different humans with superpowers fighting against strong beasts, wolves to be exact. Only, they were not real wolves as these ones had bodies made of steel. It was just like in the game, or that was what she was reminded of.
An intense loud battle was under way and yet the normal humans were walking, driving and going about their day like nothing was happening.
It seemed like they could not see the wolves or the system hosts. Was it some kind of invisibility ability?
"What am I looking at?" Alix asked her system.
Before her system could answer, one of the twins continued on, picking up where the other had left off.
"There have been too many wolf morphing system hosts in the country lately. Because wolves need packs, their systems can allow them to create as many mechanical wolves as their levels allow them to. Wan Si Che and Lui Man were circling above, watching, when they spotted one of the wolves attacking a woman so they rushed in to defend and then they were ambushed by a dozen wolves that kept multiplying in number."
The other twin jumped in, clenching his hand around around the hilt of the sword so tightly. His mood was quite dark and anybody that crossed his way was sure to die. This, Alix was certain of.
"Si Che was injured, his body was almost ripped into two. I am going to kill those bastards."
One twin comforted the other and both of them drew their swords as they stepped into the elevator. Alix joined them, unsure of where the elevator would be sending them.
"What can you tell me about wolf morphing systems?" she asked her system.
"They lack loyalty except to their kind, they care more about increasing the strength of their hosts and building a pack. With one bite, they have the ability to make other humans their lackeys. The best way to destroy them completely is by cutting off their heads."
It spoke with some disdain in it’s tone that she came to realize it had no interest in eating wolf morphing systems. If it did, it would have started clamoring and shouting eat, eat, eat, over and over.
"So, what do you recommend? I need systems, they happen to fill the need."
"Even a street dog is picky when it’s eating host, you should not eat anything just because it happens to be food. You should give your loved ones only the best systems, not any trash that has been thrown out."
The system so vehemently responded, displaying the loathing it had for wolf morphing systems and she got rid of her plans to capture the systems.
When the elevator stopped, they got off and the twins stepped out first, carrying out their bodyguard duties expertly. They stepped into a hallway and blocked her with their arms while looking around.
Satisfied that there was no danger, they allowed her to step out and one led the way from in front and the other followed closely behind her. It seemed to have skipped their minds that they were walking into a fight and it was others that needed protection from her.
At the playground meanwhile, some strangers were idling around in front of Alix’s car despite the heavy rain. Some young men and women were admiring the luxury sports car which was sleek and black with no brand logo. A few such cars had appeared in the city lately.
No one was daring to touch the car anymore however because every time someone came too close, an alarm would be set off and the person would be electrocuted. The shock was not strong enough to kill them but it was enough to make them wary.
In this group were two men that were not taking pictures, their eyes were scanning the inside of the car for signs of life.
After scanning, they looked up at a cloud and shook their heads.
