Chapter 1272: Chapter 784: The Hospital’s Security Guards Are Different (Part 2)

"Doctor, I’m off now."

Liu Zheng said.

"Are you really planning to ride that to the hospital?"

Doctor Nile pointed at the one-wheeled bicycle and said.

"No choice, if I don’t ride it, there won’t be any bikes for rent later."

He said helplessly.

"I have an idea."

Doctor Nile held the Green Emerald Dragonfly and recited an incantation. A glowing dragonfly, the size of a palm, flew out of the gemstone.

"I can’t fight for you, but I can help pull the bike."

As he finished speaking, the glowing dragonfly flew onto the one-wheeled bicycle and grabbed the handle with its feet.

"Thanks, Doctor, I’ll be off then."

Liu Zheng sat on the one-wheeled bicycle, and the glowing dragonfly flapped its wings, dragging the bicycle forward.

Surprisingly, despite the brute force, the speed was not slow.

It’s incomparable to a spirit car, but it’s much faster than pedaling hard.

Half an hour later, Liu Zheng arrived near the hospital.

Looking at the white buildings in the distance, a unique sense of oppression came over him.

"Thank you, sir, for sending me this far."

He withdrew his gaze and said to the glowing dragonfly.

The glowing dragonfly nodded at him and then dissipated into points of light.

Liu Zheng did a final check of his supplies, then walked towards the hospital’s main entrance.

As another landmark, the hospital’s façade was far more impressive than the Bloody Restaurant and the cemetery, with eight lanes and spacious side gates on both sides.

Each lane had a security booth beside it, and the two side gates had two skeletal security booths; the twelve security booths stood there like border guard posts.

Considering the complex racial makeup of the Metropolis, such an impressive façade seemed reasonable.

After some thought, he headed towards the left side gate.

"Hello, please wait a moment."

Unsurprisingly, he was stopped by security.

Compared to the security at residential areas and office buildings, the hospital security’s attitude was much better, but the vigilant and disdainful look was the same, with an added touch of superiority.

"What’s the matter?"

Liu Zheng asked calmly.

By now, he no longer felt nervous being stopped and questioned by security.

"I’m sorry, delivery persons are not allowed inside the hospital."

The bone-thin security guard with an exceptionally large, protruding frame said.

"Such a big hospital, I don’t believe no one orders delivery."

Liu Zheng said.

"Deliveries are uniformly signed for by us, checked, and then delivered to those who ordered."

The bone-thin security guard replied.

For ordinary delivery personnel, such regulations were a godsend, saving delivery time and sharing responsibility.

But for delivery personnel from the Bloody Restaurant, such regulations were unacceptable. If their deliveries weren’t timely or problematic, they’d be the ones in big trouble.

"What if I’m not here for delivery but for a consultation?"

Liu Zheng asked.

"Consultation? What’s your ailment?"

The bone-thin security guard asked.

"Isn’t it obvious?"

He pointed to his head with only a thin layer of skull.

"Such a minor injury, any clinic could handle it."

The bone-thin security guard said disdainfully.

If it didn’t need treatment, just buy some calcium tablets and wait for it to heal on its own.

"I have money and prefer premium healthcare. Why do you care?"

Liu Zheng pulled out a wad of cash and waved it in the air.

"Sir, please calm down, or I’ll have to take action."

The bone-thin security guard’s eyes turned cold, reaching for his baton.

"I’m very calm now; I just want to see a doctor. If you keep blocking me, I’ll call the Department of Health to complain."

He said.

"The Department of Health won’t handle such complaints."

The bone-thin security guard said disdainfully.

The Bloody Restaurant might be scary, but its delivery personnel were nothing; it’s usually only those who have run out of options who apply there.

"Is that so? Then I’ll try complaining now."

Liu Zheng dialed 4399.

"Brother 4399, do you know anyone handling complaints at the Department of Health?"

"Only the supervisor’s landline? That works."

"Okay, I’ll note it down, 8426XXXX. Thanks, Brother 4399."

He read the number 4399 gave him aloud in front of the bone-thin security guard and then hung up.

"You have a minute to consider; after a minute, I’ll start calling."

Liu Zheng said coldly.

The bone-thin security guard’s gaze sharpened, lingered on his face for two seconds, then quickly took out his walkie-talkie.

"Captain, someone says they want to complain."

The bone-thin security guard said.

"Let them do whatever."

A voice from the walkie-talkie responded.

"But he got the supervisor’s number from the Department of Health."

The bone-thin security guard hesitated.

"How much?"

"8426XXXX."

The bone-thin security guard reported the number he just heard.

"...What is he here for?"

The security captain paused for a few seconds before asking.

"Delivery person from the Bloody Restaurant, but he said he’s here for a consultation, and his head is indeed injured."

The bone-thin security guard replied.

"Did you say he came for a consultation?"

The security captain asked again.

"That’s what he said, but..."

"Don’t say so much, just tell me whether he’s unwell!"

The security captain interrupted him.

"Well... a head injury should be neurosurgery, right?"

The bone-thin security guard seemed to understand something, tentatively asked.

"Why neurosurgery, send him to emergency! Having worked in a hospital this long, you don’t know this? Idiot."

The security captain scolded.

"Yes, yes, yes, the captain’s skills are high, you could be a doctor."

The bone-thin security guard complimented.

"Stop joking. This must be his first visit; accompany him to registration. I’ll find someone to cover your post. It’s about enhancing service awareness. That’s all, over!"

The security captain hung up.

"Do we even have something like service awareness?"

The bone-thin security guard didn’t dare ask this aloud.

"All set?"

Liu Zheng asked.

"Follow me then."

The bone-thin security guard said reluctantly, then swiped open the gate.

"One more thing."

He didn’t rush in.

"What else, be quick."

The bone-thin security guard said impatiently.

He didn’t truly want to accompany Liu Zheng inside; the hospital was full of dangers—patients, doctors, helpers, and those visible and invisible entities. Staying gateposted seemed safest.

"I said a minute, and you’re over time."

Liu Zheng said.

"I suspect you’re here to cause trouble."

The bone-thin security guard’s gaze grew unfriendly, reaching again for his baton.

"I’m a man of my word. I said I’d call if late, so I will."

Liu Zheng ignored his actions.

"I want to see if you dare make the call."

The bone-thin security guard sneered.

He’d been a security guard at the hospital for over a decade and had seen all sorts of situations.

If Liu Zheng insisted on calling, they might as well have a brawl.

Complaints might at most entail fines or reassignments, but offending the hospital could cost him his job.

"Want to try?"

"Let’s try!"

As the words finished, Liu Zheng moved swiftly, but not to dial, instead reaching for the baton the bone-thin security guard swung.

His five fingers hooked, gripping the baton firmly. The touch was slightly springy, but it hardened with increasing force.

Clearly, the baton was made of a material similar to non-Newtonian fluid.

"Hee-yah!"

The bone-thin security guard made a peculiar sound, his skeleton straining so much it nearly broke through the skin.

Immense strength channeled through the baton, lifting Liu Zheng into the air.

"Oh? Quite some strength."

Liu Zheng remarked in mild surprise.

No wonder it’s a place capable of forcing Niu Ma and the Pond Master to compensate; even the hospital security’s prowess surpassed other places.

However, he wasn’t the rookie who once had to trade ’flesh’ for entrance to estates.

"Show some power, Asura, don’t embarrass me again."

He mentally urged the Artificial Body.

"Roar!"

Asura let out an angry roar, the vein patterns on both hands bursting into blinding light.

"Boom!"

Liu Zheng hit the ground forcefully, while the baton arched high, forming a bow shape.
