The world has turned into Hell's Game, why should I stay human?!-Chapter 1250 - 773: Everyone Received Compensation, Except for the Price Itself (Part 2)
But no matter what, he was the son of a prostitute, and now he’s lost his only protector as well.
Whether Dead Boy likes it or not, he now has to live as an adult.
"Will you kill me?"
This was Dead Boy’s first question.
Obviously, he had heard the last sentence of 4399.
"No. But I can’t let you live like a normal kid either."
Liu Zheng shook his head and said.
This was the first time 4399 made an explicit request, so even sending him to Bathhouse Street probably wouldn’t be safe enough; at least he needed to be sent to the Ten Thousand Great Mountains.
Or, let him stay in the sewer.
No matter what the final choice was, it was far removed from normal life.
"So what should I do in the future?"
This was Dead Boy’s second question.
"I’ll give you two options. One is to go to the Ten Thousand Great Mountains; I have some connections with the Stone Spirit Clan there. As long as I’m alive, they’ll take care of you. The other is to stay in the sewers. The proxy here, Fisherman, is my elder. He also has a few people under him whom I rescued from the pet shop. Even if I die, they should take care of you."
Liu Zheng said.
"I want to stay here."
Dead Boy said immediately.
"Are you sure? You can smell what it’s like down here; it’s not a place for normal people. And if you stay long enough, you’ll inevitably mutate. The mutation process is hard to endure and you might die."
He said.
Just look at the Xi Family Army. They are sold as premium pet humans, and their qualities vastly exceed those of ordinary humans, but less than half of them survive.
"I just want to stay here, close to my home. Even if I die, I want to die with my mom."
Dead Boy said.
"Alright."
Liu Zheng didn’t say much more.
"Can you help me avenge?"
This was Dead Boy’s third question.
"I don’t know."
He replied.
Liu Zheng wasn’t sure who all were involved with the Evil God’s descent or what City Hall’s stance was towards those people, and he didn’t know how long he would stay in the Metropolis.
So, whether he could or couldn’t, he couldn’t promise.
"I understand. Thank you, uncle."
Dead Boy lowered his head, clutching the photo frame tightly, the glass gradually blurring.
Liu Zheng turned away and looked towards the Underwater River, which seemed clearer than the sky of the Metropolis.
"It’s done."
Suddenly, Fisherman jumped out of the river.
"Here you go."
He handed an inflated pufferfish to Liu Zheng.
"Infinite Heavenly Venerable."
Liu Zheng directly stored it in the Qiankun Ring.
"What’s wrong with you, kid?"
Fisherman noticed something was off about him.
Normally, he would have asked a lot of questions.
"Nothing, just suddenly felt a bit pointless."
Liu Zheng said calmly.
"You just took a trip around an Evil God’s Divine Country and even pried out his teeth. Now you’re telling me it’s pointless? What, you want to pry a tooth out of the Supreme Councilman too?"
Fisherman mocked.
"But the Evil God still ran away, and I couldn’t save the person I wanted."
"Didn’t you save a punk? How many more do you want to save? You, running around all day doing delivery work while having the heart of a savior, aren’t you tired?"
Fisherman teased.
"Alright, I’m just annoyed."
Liu Zheng admitted.
"Annoyed about what?"
"Annoyed that my fists aren’t hard enough, my resources aren’t plenty enough, my people aren’t strong enough!"
He clenched his fists and said.
"Now that sounds like a human, but you still don’t act like one. How many days have you been here? If I had your rate of growth, I’d be the Vice Chairman by now."
Fisherman rolled his eyes.
"Still not fast enough."
Liu Zheng sighed.
The waters of the Metropolis were too deep, and no matter how strong he became, he could never keep up with the changing tides.
"Don’t get any ideas about shortcuts. I’ve seen many young folks chasing quick success, and none of them had a good end."
Fisherman warned.
"Got it. He’ll stay in the sewer, and you can treat him like the Xi Family Army. But he’s young, so try not to give him too much heavy work."
Liu Zheng pulled Dead Boy in front of Fisherman.
"Hmph, if it weren’t for you stuffing people here, I wouldn’t have any work for them."
Fisherman pouted.
A sewer is just a sewer, needing neither cleanliness nor aesthetics.
Besides regular cleaning for the blocked Underwater River, there really isn’t much fixed work to do.
The sewer’s ecosystem is still important, but as long as Fisherman doesn’t leave it completely unattended, the population and number of sewer creatures will always be controlled within a normal range.
Of course, it’s not that the Xi Family Army is completely useless.
After all, the sewer doesn’t need them doesn’t mean Fisherman himself doesn’t need them.
"You, with your kind and generous heart, are bound to have many children and grandchildren, blessed with health and longevity."
Liu Zheng spoke auspiciously at once.
"Hmm, it seems you still have some conscience. Hmm? Wait, I just have one daughter, where’s this idea of many children and grandchildren coming from?"
Fisherman realized.
"A son-in-law is like half a son, right? As for grandchildren, it’s simple; when Sea Girl gives birth, let the child take your surname."
He joked with a smile.
"Nonsense, I won’t let a brat covered in filth be my son-in-law."
Fisherman cursed.
"Speaking of which, how do I get rid of all this filth on me?"
Liu Zheng asked.
"I don’t know, figure it out yourself. If you’re leaving, hurry up, before the sewer smell hits you hard."
Fisherman urged.
After all, Liu Zheng had blown up a sewer manhole, and while it wasn’t a capital offense, he wasn’t getting away scot-free.
"Got it, I’ll just say a few more words and then leave."
Liu Zheng acknowledged and then turned to Dead Boy.
After some thought, he took out a "Mini Grenade Launcher" and placed it in the latter’s hand.
"The Xi Family Army might not always be easy to get along with. If you get bullied, endure if you can, but if you can’t, show them this and tell them I gave it to you."
Liu Zheng advised.
"Okay. Thank you, uncle."
Dead Boy looked up and said, with tears still wet on his face.
"This is all I can do now, strive to survive. Only by living do you have a chance."
He patted Dead Boy’s head, then turned and walked towards the next sewer passage.
Once out of the sewer, Liu Zheng first called Niu Ma.
"Boss, I’m filthy right now. Let the boss know I’ll clean up before going back to the restaurant."
He said.
"Oh. By the way, City Hall returned your spirit car, and they also warned us that the area near Kowloon Walled City is very dangerous lately, advising us not to go too close, as next time they might not be able to return it."
Niu Ma said.
"Got it."
The return of the spirit car was a good news; otherwise, he’d have to pay a lot.
City Hall’s mix of soft and hard tactics was quite interesting, though he couldn’t figure out whose idea it was.
"Walking back?"
Liu Zheng looked towards the direction of "Jidao Public Bath."
After hesitating for a while, he called Ace.
"Brother Pai, can you drive over to the Old City District to pick me up?"
He said.
"Sure, where exactly?"
Ace agreed promptly.
"Near Kowloon Walled City, though I can’t pinpoint the exact spot."
Liu Zheng looked around but didn’t spot any landmark buildings.
"No problem, open your game console, there’s a game called Real Hide and Seek in it. Create a room, and send me the room number. Once I’m in, set us as the same team so I can track your location in real-time."
Ace instructed.
"Didn’t know that was possible, 666. Oh, I’m covered in sewer filth, so bring a cheap car."
He reminded before hanging up.
After everything was set up, Ace’s green dot on the game console screen gradually approached.
Finally, a three-wheeled sidecar motorcycle appeared in Liu Zheng’s sight.
"Whoa, I asked for a cheap car, and you didn’t even bring a car?"
When Ace pulled up in front of him, he couldn’t help but tease.
"Cheap or not isn’t the issue; I just didn’t want you to stink me out in a car with a roof."
Ace pinched his nose and said.
