The Wolfless Luna's Revenge: Returning With His Secret Twins-Chapter 296
~Samantha~
"Don’t." Dominic’s hand shot out, grabbing my wrist before I could move. "Sam, don’t."
"She knows things." I looked at him. "Things only Silver Claw would know. The markings are real. Her blood is silver. What more proof do you need?"
"I need to know she won’t get my family killed!" His grip tightened. "Please. Just listen to me this once. Something’s wrong. I can feel it."
"You feel wrong about everyone." Killian’s voice cut in. "Maybe your instincts are off."
"My instincts have kept us alive this long!"
"Barely! And only because Sam and I have been picking up your slack!"
"My slack?!" Dominic rounded on him. "I’m the one who’s been keeping the pack from falling apart while you’ve been coughing up blood and making eyes at my wife!"
"Here we go again." Killian’s voice went flat. "Can’t have one conversation without you bringing that up."
"Because it’s true!"
"STOP!" I yanked my hand free from Dominic’s grip. "Both of you just stop! I can’t think when you’re screaming at each other!"
Silence fell through as they both breathed heavily.
"The necklace." Lila’s voice broke through the tension. "Please. Just let me show you. If I’m lying, you’ll know." She looked at me with something like desperation. "If I’m not, this could be the key to ending everything. Finding Black Moon. Stopping the shadow gate. Saving the Silver Claw survivors. Finishing what your mother started."
Finishing what my mother started.
The words echoed in my head. Felt true in a way I couldn’t explain.
"Sam." Dominic’s voice was pleading now. "Don’t. Please."
I looked at him. At the fear in his eyes. The genuine terror that I was about to make a mistake that would cost us everything.
Then I looked at Lila. At the corruption spreading across her back. At the silver blood still seeping from her face.
"Thirty seconds." I held up the necklace. "You get thirty seconds to prove this works. Then we decide."
"Sam, no."
"I’m doing this, Dominic." I cut him off. "You can support me or get out of the way."
His face went through about six emotions in two seconds. Landed on hurt.
"Fine. But when this goes wrong, remember I tried to stop you." He stepped back. Crossed his arms. Looked away.
I ignored the guilt stabbing through my chest. Focused on Lila.
"What do I do?"
"Give it to the children." Lila’s eyes moved to the twins. "They’re the keys. Their blood activates it."
"Absolutely not!" Dominic surged forward. "You’re not touching my kids!"
"I’m not touching them. They’re touching the necklace." Lila’s voice was patient. "With their blood. Just a drop. That’s all it takes."
"How do you know that?"
"Because Elena told me. Before she died. Said her grandchildren would be the ones to activate it. The twin keys to unlocking its power."
The prophecy. Again. Always coming back to the prophecy.
"Devon. Diana." I looked at my babies. "Come here."
They came without hesitation. Stood on either side of me.
"You want us to bleed on it?" Devon asked.
"Just a tiny bit. Like we did before with the purification wands." I knelt down to their level. "But only if you want to. This is your choice."
"Will it hurt?" Diana asked.
"A little. But you’re brave. You can handle it."
They looked at each other. Did that twin thing where they had whole conversations with just their eyes.
Then Devon nodded. "Okay. We’ll do it."
"No." Dominic’s voice was pure Alpha command. "You won’t. Both of you step away from your mother right now."
The twins wavered. Caught between obeying their Alpha father and supporting their mother.
"Don’t use commands on them."
"They’re making their own choice."
"They’re children!"
"They’re MY children too! And I say they can try!"
We stood there. Staring at each other. Years of resentment and fear and love all tangled up between us.
"I can’t watch you risk them." Dominic’s voice broke. "I can’t. Not again."
"You don’t have to watch." I turned away from him. "You can leave if you want."
"Sam."
"I mean it. If you can’t trust me with our own children, then leave. Go back to the manor. We’ll handle this without you."
The words tasted like poison. But I meant them.
Dominic made a sound like I’d punched him. When I looked back, his eyes were wet. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"You’d really choose this over me?"
"I’m not choosing anything over you. I’m choosing to trust our kids. There’s a difference."
"Is there?" He looked at Killian. "Or are you just choosing whoever agrees with you?"
"That’s not fair."
"None of this is fair!" His voice rose. "I’m watching my mate trust a stranger over me, watching her side with Killian constantly, watching her put our children in danger, and I’m supposed to just smile and support it?!"
"I’m not siding with Killian! I’m trying to find answers!"
"By ignoring every warning sign! By trusting people who’ve given us no reason to trust them!" He pointed at Lila.
"I believe in giving people a chance!"
"That’s going to get you killed one day!"
"Better dead than living in fear!"
Dominic’s face went blank. "Right. Good to know where I stand."
My throat closed up. "Dominic, no."
"Forget it." He turned away. "Do whatever you want. You will anyway."
He walked toward the tree line. Disappeared into the shadows.
I stood there. Frozen. Half wanting to chase him. Half wanting to scream.
"Mom?" Diana’s voice was tiny. "Did we make you and Dad fight again?"
"No, baby. You didn’t do anything wrong." I pulled them both close. "Adults are just complicated sometimes."
"That’s dumb." Devon’s voice was muffled against my stomach. "You should just talk to each other instead of yelling."
"You’re right. We should." I kissed both their heads. "But right now, we need to focus on this. Can you still do it? Can you still try?"
They pulled back. Looked at each other again.
"Yeah," Diana said. "We can do it."
Devon nodded. "For Grandma."
They held hands. Brought their free hands to their mouths.
"Wait." Killian moved forward. "Let me." He pulled out a small knife. "Cleaner this way. Less pain."
He pricked each of their fingers quick and careful. Two small drops of blood welled up.
The twins pressed their fingers to the necklace at the same time.
For a second, nothing happened.
Then the claw started glowing.
Soft at first. Then brighter. Brighter. Until it was almost blinding.
Lines of light spread from the claw across the leather cord. Forming patterns. Shapes. A map.
"There." Lila was staring at the map like it was salvation. "That’s Black Moon’s hideout. And that," She pointed at the second location, and her face went white. "That’s impossible."
"What is?" I asked.
"That location doesn’t exist. It was erased from all records. Only two people knew about it." She looked at me. "The Primordial Luna and the Silver Claw Clan leader. Both dead. So how is it showing up now?"
"Maybe the necklace is wrong." Killian was studying the map. "Maybe it’s showing old information."
"Or maybe someone else knows about it." Lila’s voice dropped. "Someone who shouldn’t."
"You think there’s a leak."
"I think there’s a traitor." Lila looked at Killian.
