The Wolfless Luna's Revenge: Returning With His Secret Twins-Chapter 263
[SAMANTHA’s Point of View]
“Mom!” I can hear something from the other side of the cave!”
[Wait, you said they can’t enter here, right?! What is happening now!?] Killian asked the Queen’s guard, scowling. [I can hear f*cking footsteps coming towards us!]
Even Rey was so confused when I looked at him. It seemed he was telling us the truth when he said that the caves were safe from the creatures of the Black Forest. But the Black Claws were not from the Black Forest, and that’s what Killian and Dominic realized as well.
[We have to go! Now!]
Dominic urged the kids to climb onto his back, but Purple jumped out of Devon’s arms and started barking again at the enemies that were running to seize us. I wanted to grab him and toss him to Devon, but we had no time! We had to run, or the Black Claws would chase all of us!
“Mom! We have to go back! We have to get Purple!” Devon screamed, terrified for his friend.
[I am so sorry, Devon. But it’s too impossible for us to slow down! There are too many of them! We can’t risk it!] Killian replied with gritted teeth.
“MOM! PLEASE!”
Devon’s begging felt like a pinch on my heart. Dominic and I looked at each other at the same time as if we were both silently asking whether we would go back to save Purple. When I looked at Devon and Diana, their faces were already drenched with tears, terrified for the life of their friend.
Dominic reached out to me through our mate bond, and I felt the same guilt he felt. We both decided to halt. Our claws grappled against the dirt as we both snarled and faced the Black Claws, who were just a few minutes away from us.
[Dominic! Samantha! What the f*ck are you two doing!?] Killian exclaimed in panic, his eyes wide with shock and fear. [We have to go!]
[You go with the kids, Killian! Dominic and I will take Purple back!] I snarled at him, aware of the level of the risk we were taking. I looked at my husband, and I saw in his eyes the same determination I had to save our children’s friend. And aside from that, I had this feeling that we might need Purple one day. Whatever Purple’s part in all of this, I had no idea. But first, I had to save my children from total heartbreak if ever they lost their friend.
I would never want them to hate their father or me for not even trying to save their friend.
[It’s f*cking dangerous! You know you’ll die if they ever catch you!] Killian was starting to sound hysterical, making Diana and Devon more terrified.
[Go now, Killian! Bring the children with you! Go back to Silver Crescent as fast as you can! Dominic and I will deal with them! Take Devon and Diana away from here, and promise me Bennette and the Black Claws will never get near them!]
The Queen’s guard, Rey, was too confused and shocked at what was happening. Probably because of his age as well, which made him look scared when we saw that the Black Claws were getting closer.
[Try not to die.] Killian said softly as he gazed into my eyes with fear that made my stomach feel tight. I asked Devon and Diana to climb down and go to their Uncle Killian so we could save Purple and bring him back safely to Silver Crescent. To bring little Purple home.
“Be careful, Mom, Dad.” Diana kissed her Dad and me softly with teary eyes. “Please be safe and take Purple back. My wolf is telling me that we need him. We have to keep him safe.”
“I understand, sweetheart.” I smiled at her and then caressed her long, dark, straight hair. “I know Purple is very important to you and your Dad, and I will do our best to bring him back home. I promise.”
Diana didn’t answer, but I saw the worry in her eyes when Devon started to pull her towards their Uncle Killian so they could leave the place while there was still time. Killian and the Queen’s guard gave me and Dominic one final nod before they started running towards the other end of the tunnel, away from the Black Forest and the eyes of the enemies.
Killian promised me he would keep the twins safe, and I had to trust him.
However, Dominic seemed unhappy that I put our children’s safety in the hands of the man he least trusted.
[We don’t have any choice.] I just told him, hoping that my decision was right. But it was Killian. He cares for Devon and Diana like they are his own.
[He would do anything to protect them.] I added as I tried to convince my husband that the kids were safe with the MoonStone Alpha.
Dominic let out a deep, frustrated sigh, though, and then focused himself on the enemies that were coming towards us. I felt the tension in his body. The heat of anger. The way his jaws tightened when he gritted his teeth. It made me wonder what was going on in his head. Why didn’t he want me to show his worries? His fears? Why couldn’t he trust Killian after everything that the MoonStone Alpha did for us?
Dominic knew something. And I couldn’t understand why he just wouldn’t tell me about it.
We expected a whole pack of the Black Claws coming after us, but Dominic and I were surprised and were confused when we saw only one of them approaching us.
In his human form.
Dominic furrowed, but was still on full alert for what the Black Claws wanted this time.
“We have the cub.” The Black Claw spoke in a steady tone. He looked intimidated by my husband’s presence, but remained calm and composed despite that terrified look on his face.
[We know.] Dominic retorted in a low growl; his throat vibrated as he looked down on the messenger of the Black Claw. [And we want the cub back.]
[I am afraid we can’t do that, Alpha of the Silver Crescent Pack.] The messenger’s voice almost croaked as he straightened his back when he replied to my husband. [But you can have him back if you do what Master Richard Bennettes demands.]
[He’s making so many demands!] Dominic snarled, his eyes glowing red, and I had to stop him before he would kill the messenger and put us all into a much more desperate situation.
[What does Bennette want this time?] I asked the messenger as I stepped in front of Dominic and decided to handle the negotiation this time.
“The Master wants you to meet him, Lady Samantha, Luna of the Silver Crescent Pack, and the descendant of the Primordial Clan, in the depths of the Black Forest. Tomorrow night, when the moon is full. And he wants you to go alone.”
[That’s—]
I stopped Dominic from saying any more stupid threats and answered the messenger with a steely voice. [Tell your master I will be there. Tomorrow night. During the full moon.]
The messenger gave me a short nod before he shifted to his wolf form and left. I expected Dominic’s angry face when I looked at him and whispered. [I have to do it.]
[As if I would let you go alone.] Dominic replied with an upset look on his face. [You wouldn’t go there alone, Samantha. I would never let you.]
[This is the only way we can take Purple back! I have to do it! We failed to save him today because we were being so careless!]
As soon as we both thought that the Black Claws had left the cave, Dominic stepped closer to me and stared me in the eyes as he spoke. [I will go with you and my pack of Gamma Soldiers to ambush Bennette. It’s the chance we also have to get rid of him.]
[I know how much you wanted to kill the old traitor, but I also know that Bennette isn’t a stupid person, Dominic. He knows that you would come with me and would set a trap to kill all of us.] I explained to him with my eyes swimming with fear and pain. [I have to go alone, just like what Bennette wanted. I have to make sure he won’t hurt Purple. We have to save the cub because we promised our children we would take him back.]
Dominic was not happy with my decision and scowled in anger.
[I have to do this alone. It’s the only way. And I need you to be with the kids in case they plan of attacking the Pack Manor again. We don’t know what Bennette is thinking. We have to prepare ourselves for whatever would happen.]
[That’s what I am scared about, Samantha.] His snarl was low as I felt the fear in his voice. [We don’t know what Bennette’s plans are. And I am scared he would hurt you. Capture you and torture you!]
[He can’t hurt me, you know that.] I stared deeply into my husband’s eyes so he could see my determination to do this. [He can’t hurt me because he needs me to unravel what the Mirror wants to show him.] 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Dominic exhaled in exasperation as he turned his back on me, feeling so frustrated and angry. And I understand how he felt. I understand his fear.
Because I was scared as well.
[All of this is for nothing if I lose you, Sam.] Dominic whispered in his gentle tone, full of sadness and dread. [I don’t want to lose you. Ever. Again.]
I thought my heart broke into a million tiny pieces at what he said. I wanted to tell him I didn’t want to go alone, either. I didn’t want to do this and leave them.
But I had to.
I had to know what Bennette was planning and save Purple.
