The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day-Chapter 389 - 301: Where Did It Come From
I just slipped inside, and coincidentally bumped into a human wall.
Soren Phoenix rubbed his sore nose and looked up, meeting Corbin Crowley’s cold silver eyes.
"Well, isn’t this our Phoenix Beauty?"
Corbin Crowley’s lips curled slightly, his fingertips lifted Soren’s swollen chin, "Stung by a bee like this, were you trying to steal honey?"
Of course, he knew it was done by The Dragon Clan. Although his face was beaten like a pig’s head, it was still much better compared to Rhys Blackwood and Zeke Veridian.
Indeed, the status as Young Lord Fawkes of The Phoenix Clan does have some use, at least those dogs from The Dragon Clan did not dare to go too far.
"None of your business!"
Soren slapped his hand away, but the movement was too big and pulled at his wound, causing him to grimace in pain, looking even uglier, like a big pig’s head.
Kian Sterling came out with a copper pot to boil water, heard the commotion, and looked this way, immediately freezing at the sight of Soren’s pig-head-like face, his expression struck with shock.
His thoughts shifted slightly, quickly understanding the reason, it was a beating from The Dragon Clan.
Although ugly, luckily, they’re all just external injuries, much better than the rest of them.
The copper pot was filled with water and placed on the stove to boil, a fire burning underneath fueled by wood, which wouldn’t extinguish anytime soon, so there was no need to watch it closely.
He leisurely shuffled over to Soren Phoenix, a half-smile on his lips: "Young Lord Fawkes’ face..."
His fingertip suddenly sparked a cluster of golden Fox Fire, "Want me to help roast it? A warm compress quickens the swelling down."
"Get lost."
Soren wanted to roll his big eyes, but unfortunately, his eyelids were too swollen to move, so he could only grunt: "You heartless ones, I found a treasure and thought of sharing it with you all, yet each of you is mocking me."
Corbin Crowley and Kian Sterling simultaneously raised their eyebrows, their gaze landing on his bulging clothes.
Soren triumphantly pulled out a Jade Box, "Look at the good stuff I found!"
He lifted the lid, and purple light illuminated the surroundings, nearly blinding everyone’s eyes.
Twenty pigeon-egg-sized top-grade beast crystals were casually placed inside, energy fluctuations seemed to be spilling everywhere.
Malachi Arcanus, who was practicing walking, stared wide-eyed, directly pounced over, "Whoa! Where did you get this?"
"Picked on the road."
Soren smugly glanced at the few people present, "Finders keepers, each of us gets two. This Young Lord is quite generous to his own people."
Corbin Crowley and Kian Sterling’s smiles vanished instantly, their expressions turned complex.
These top-grade beast crystals in the box were evidently thrown by The Mad Dragon, somehow picked up by the flashy phoenix.
Luna Sutton stepped out from the cottage, clearly hearing the noise.
Her gaze touched upon the box of purple beast crystals, her face suddenly turning cold.
"Where did you get this?"
Her voice seemed laced with ice.
Soren was momentarily stunned, clearly not accustomed to her cold demeanor, his swollen peach blossom eyes blinked desperately, "Pi-Picked up on the road..."
Corbin Crowley’s silver eyes narrowed slightly, his long fingers picked up a crystal stone, coldly said: "Picked up in the forest thirty miles southwest of Hesperia, right."
Then he put it down again, gently brushed off the dust from his hand.
Soren was shocked by the nearly certain words, and even more by the precise location he picked up the top-grade beast crystals, "How do you know?"
Corbin Crowley coldly glanced at him, "Those were thrown by The Mad Dragon."
Soren immediately grasped the reason, guessing that these few had been beaten too badly by The Dragon Clan’s Black-armored Guard, causing Luna to lose her temper.
His cousin lost his memory, naturally forgetting about Luna’s deception, thus took out this box of top-grade crystal stones wanting to compensate, evidently Luna didn’t accept.
Furious, his cousin threw away these crystal stones.
He didn’t know that his guess was almost spot on.
"Bang!"
Kian Sterling suddenly closed the Jade Box, his gentle voice carried a chill: "Young Lord, why not say outright this is Mael Valerius’ blood money?"
Of course, he only knew it was picked up by Soren Phoenix, but it didn’t stop him from casting blame.
Soren’s existence clearly already threatened him, dividing much of Luna’s attention.
Better for him to leave just like his cousin.
Luna having him alone as Beast Husband is enough, why so many Beast Husbands?
What they give, he can also give, what they do, he can also do.
No one knew what Kian Sterling thought inwardly, it was always a lifetime with Luna alone in his heart.
Unfortunately, Luna had too many Beast Husbands, saw one and loved another, which made him very sad.
This is also why his favorability for Luna Sutton has never reached 100.
It’s not because of not having offspring, but he wishes Luna to belong to him alone.
Even though I know it’s unrealistic, I can’t help but wish for it in my heart.
No matter how good-tempered Soren Phoenix is, he was infuriated. What did the old fox mean by this? Suspecting that his cousin used top-grade beast crystals to bribe him for murder?
That’s not how you pin something on someone.
Not to mention that Soren Phoenix isn’t that kind of person; he doesn’t lack these top-grade beast crystals himself.
Although the Phoenix Clan isn’t as wealthy as the Dragon Clan, they’re not far behind. Beast crystals, to him, are no different from worthless stones.
He only brought them back because the Wolf Tribe needed them, and he thought Luna would be happy to see them.
"Kian Sterling, what do you mean by this? Do you think this young master would covet these worthless stones?"
He snatched the Jade Box, and two purple crystals fell out: "If it weren’t for everyone needing them, thinking they’d boost your strength, I wouldn’t even bother picking up these useless stones. A good deed seen as a donkey’s liver, just forget it..."
Before he finished speaking, Malachi Arcanus suddenly dropped to the ground, frantically picking up crystals: "I need them! I really need them right now!"
He doesn’t care if they’re from the Mad Dragon; as long as they can enhance power, that’s what’s most important.
He’s had enough of being trampled in the mud, utterly powerless to resist.
Luna Sutton watched Malachi with a complex expression, wanting to tell Soren to throw the purple crystals away, but she couldn’t bring herself to say it.
This time, being crushed into the mud by the Dragon Clan must have been a huge blow to the proud Malachi.
"Luna..."
Soren Phoenix looked at her with his swollen peach eyes, apprehensively holding the Jade Box like a hot potato.
Corbin Crowley suddenly reached out and stuffed two crystals into Malachi’s arms: "Since we picked them up, use them. Only by enhancing our power can we seek revenge."
His silver eyes swept across them, "Two for each person, the rest will be saved as rewards for the deserving Beastmen."
Kian Sterling frowned slightly. He thought Soren and Mael Valerius were cousins, so if Soren came back with a box of top-grade beast crystals, Luna would surely be suspicious.
Thus, he conveniently pinned something on him.
Now the one feeling awkward turned out to be himself, lamenting his own impatience.
He quickly adjusted his thoughts and suddenly chuckled, "Corbin is right."
He picked up a crystal with his fingertips and examined it in the sunlight, "If the Dragon Clan’s offering is convenient, we should make use of it."
Then he looked at Soren, promptly apologizing, "I misunderstood you; don’t take it to heart."
The warm, sincere demeanor showed no trace of his earlier attempts to scheme.
Soren couldn’t be bothered to engage with the old fox, seeing right through his attempt to drive him away.
The small tricks might fool others, but not him.
Still, he smiled broadly, with his pig-headed face squeezed together, unsightly to behold: "It’s nothing, just a minor misunderstanding; I won’t hold it against you."
Zeke Veridian stood coldly at the door, staring at the crystals for a long moment.
Suddenly, he turned and went back inside, "Dirty."
"Hey, you stubborn bamboo!"
Malachi scrambled up to drag him back, but was stopped by Rhys Blackwood.
Rhys’ dark eyes were deep, "Let him be."
Yet he picked up two crystals himself, rolling the raised particles between his fingers, "Indeed dirty, but it can make us stronger."
Luna Sutton’s gaze was complicated as she suddenly turned and went inside, the beast-hide curtain swishing loudly.
Fearing that if she stayed another second, she wouldn’t be able to resist smashing the crystals onto the ground.
Inside, she bitterly smiled as she touched her belly.
Here could be the legacy of the Mad Dragon, and yet her beast husbands must rely on the other’s handouts to grow stronger.
How ironic.
"Luna."
Kian Sterling, who had unknowingly followed her in, embraced her from behind, "If it’s really upsetting, I’ll have Soren throw them out."
She shook her head, her fingertips pressed against the window frame turning white: "No need."
Turning her head, she forced a smile, "Keeping them to enhance your strength is good too. With strength, we won’t be bullied again."
"Luna, you’re always so understanding."
Kian gently held her in his arms, his demeanor extremely tender, also filled with a deep affection.
Unable to stop himself from thinking, how wonderful it would be if Luna had never encountered that Mad Dragon.
Had she not met him, she would not have experienced such hardships and endured so much suffering.
But there are no ’ifs.’
Everything is arranged by fate, unchangeable by anyone.
Henceforth, he will never allow the Mad Dragon to get even a step closer to Luna.
