The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day-Chapter 290 - 245: Ghost-Faced Spider (2)
He painfully curled up on the ground, rolling around, as his sharp wolf claws gouged deep grooves into the soil.
"Old man, don’t go bursting yourself open."
The Priest unwittingly squatted nearby, munching on fruit, and mumbled, "Bursting your body won’t leave anyone to deal with your corpse." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Lyle Sutton squeezed out a few words through his teeth: "Shut...up!"
The Priest accurately spat the fruit core into a tree hole three meters away, clapped his hands, and stood up, "Alright, alright, I’m shutting up. But old buddy..."
He suddenly lowered his voice, poking Lyle Sutton’s swollen belly with his Bone Staff, "The energy of the Dragon Whisker Whale Pill is wild, want me to help you bleed it out a bit?"
"Scram!"
Lyle Sutton swatted away the Bone Staff, his wolf eyes crimson, "I...can handle it!"
As soon as the words fell, a sudden "crack" echoed from within his body, as if some barrier had been shattered.
The previously swollen wolf body began to shrink at a visible rate, gray-white fur shimmering with a cold light, his body doubling in size, and the aura of an eighth-level power exploding outwards, shaking the nearby leaves until they fell.
The Priest was blown back by the gust, and when he regained his footing, he was wide-eyed with disbelief: "You actually broke through, old man?"
Lyle Sutton shook his sleek new wolf fur, proudly lifted his wolf head, and spoke with human words, "How about it? Now I can beat those feathered beasts from The Phoenix Clan."
The Priest rolled his eyes dramatically, mercilessly quipping, "What’s so great about the eighth level? Corbin Crowley reached the eighth level long ago, and he’s even evolved!"
......
At the edge of the swamp, Corbin’s wolf paw was still pressed against the icy ground.
Suddenly sensing something, his silver eyes sharply turned to the depths of the forest: "The leader has broken through."
Rhys Blackwood’s gaze followed suit, frowning, "The scent of blood is too strong, it might attract things from the canyon."
As if in response to his words, a rustling sound came from the distance.
Zeke Veridian’s emerald eyes suddenly narrowed, Wind Blade forming at his fingertips: "It’s a swarm of Ghost-Faced Spiders, drawn by the scent of blood, heading to the leader."
Corbin’s third eye at his brow suddenly opened, shooting out a cold beam: "Go!"
Before the words even settled, he spread his bone wings, transforming into a silver streak heading towards Lyle Sutton’s location.
Rhys Blackwood and Zeke Veridian exchanged a glance and quickly followed behind.
Meanwhile, Luna Sutton was in the mountains and forests, searching for resources according to the system map’s glowing dots.
Just as she plucked a mushroom into her basket, the system map suddenly flashed with a gray light.
A swarm of densely packed gray dots surged towards a certain part of the forest.
The gray dots represented dangerous plants and animals.
The deeper the shade of gray, the higher the level of danger.
She noticed and discovered that the gray dot color was quite deep.
Which means something pretty dangerous is approaching.
Fortunately, it wasn’t black, which would indicate extreme danger and unknown boss creatures.
She was just about to ask what was happening when the system’s alarm sounded in her mind.
"Warning! A large number of Ghost-Faced Spiders detected approaching."
She jerked her head up, seeing the bushes ahead shaking violently, vaguely dozens of millstone-sized Ghost-Faced Spiders were scuttling towards a certain place, the grim human face pattern on their abdomen particularly eerie in the dark woods.
"What the hell?"
She crammed the basket filled with wild vegetables and mushrooms into her space, her face grim.
The system replied gleefully, "Your dad swallowed the Dragon Whisker Whale Beast Pill, reached the eighth level, and the scent of blood attracted the canyon’s native species~"
Luna Sutton couldn’t waste time on the system, turning away and sprinting towards Lyle Sutton.
Although she didn’t know where Lyle Sutton had broken through, she could tell from the direction the Ghost-Faced Spiders were heading.
Following the system map’s guidance, she sprinted all the way, not forgetting to enable the ability to hear the voices of all living things.
Although a bit noisy, she could also gather a lot of important information.
Where she passed, trees swayed and leaves danced.
Various voices continuously reached her ears—
"Oh dear, those ugly creatures are out hunting again." The branches of the old banyan tree rustled.
"That old wolf clan fellow is in for a tough time~" A clump of brambles waved its sharp thorns gleefully.
She pushed away the last piece of underbrush, the scene before her made her come to a sudden halt.
Lyle Sutton, drenched in blood, stood in the center of the clearing, surrounded by a heap of ten or so Ghost-Faced Spider corpses.
A spider leg was still hanging off his wolf paw, green mucus dripping steadily downward.
"Father!"
Luna Sutton shouted, about to rush in to help.
She watched as Lyle Sutton swatted away the last Ghost-Faced Spider with a paw, then transformed into human form.
He was bare-chested, muscles knotted, and stained with a fair amount of spider blood on his bronze skin.
"Luna? What are you doing here?"
When Lyle Sutton saw his daughter, his thick brows furrowed, "It’s dangerous here, get back!"
No sooner had the words left his mouth than a "crack" sounded.
Luna Sutton, astonished, turned her head and saw a Ghost-Faced Spider on the tree trunk she’d just run past, slowly turning its ghastly human face pattern towards her, exposing its fangs.
"Damn!"
She shivered, and vines burst from her palm, about to whip at it.
Corbin suddenly shot out from the woods, a crystal of ice shooting from his brow and piercing the Ghost-Faced Spider’s head.
Rhys Blackwood and Zeke Veridian followed close behind, clearing all nearby Ghost-Faced Spiders.
Not until it was completely safe did they stop.
Because of this overwhelming slaughter, no other Ghost-Faced Spiders or animals dared approach, all keeping their distance.
Zeke Veridian’s emerald eyes swept over the mess, helplessly saying, "Leader, the commotion of your breakthrough was too great."
Lyle Sutton scratched his disheveled hair awkwardly, "Ahem, the Dragon Whisker Whale Pill is too potent, I didn’t expect it to attract so many Ghost-Faced Spiders."
Corbin’s silver eyes flickered as he walked to Luna’s side, naturally wrapping an arm around her waist, "Luna, you weren’t scared, were you?"
Luna Sutton rolled her eyes, "I’m not made of paper, I’m not that easily scared, am I?"
Thinking of something, she couldn’t help but ask, "By the way, how’s the trap setting going?"
Just as Corbin was about to answer, his silver eyes suddenly narrowed, "There’s movement three miles to the northwest."
Rhys Blackwood’s gaze instantly turned to the northwest, "The Phoenix Clan?"
"No."
Corbin’s third eye glowed silver, "It’s Mael Valerius’s presence."
Before the words fell, the sky suddenly darkened with shadow.
The massive body of the Torch Dragon swept over the canyon, its claws clutching a fiery red figure,
It was Rhea, who had been beaten black and blue.
Finn Arcanus descended from Mael Valerius’s back, greeted Corbin, Rhys Blackwood, and Zeke Veridian, then paid respect to Lyle Sutton.
Lyle Sutton waved his hand, indicating there was no need for formalities.
"Luna!"
Mael Valerius landed and shifted to human form, tossing Rhea to the ground like a ragged sack, "This ruffled feather bird sneaked behind me all the way."
Rhea’s feathers were already picked off, leaving just a few dangling, making him a completely bald bird.
He struggled to raise his head, speaking human words: "Young Master... The Clan Leader just wants a few drops of your Heart Blood..."
Mael Valerius stomped on his bare wing, murderous intent swirling in his dark golden eyes, "Celestia Fawkes rotting into decayed meat is none of my business?"
Luna Sutton suddenly grabbed his arm, "Wait."
She crouched down, her gaze fixed on the bald bird Rhea, all the while twitching at the corners of her mouth: "How many beastmen did The Phoenix Clan send, and what is their strength?"
Rhea sneered at her, responding sarcastically, "You think I’d tell you?"
Mael Valerius simply snapped his wing, coldly saying, "Don’t want your remaining feathers? I’ll pluck them all out."
