The Werewolf King's Bride-Chapter 588: I Was Not Ready
(From Blue’s Perspective)
In our bedroom, I asked Dem about what happened with Evelyn right after we came in.
Demian was asleep and Dion was sleepy. We put them in their cribs.
"The same thing," Dem said as we sat down on the bed. "It is the same all the time. She doesn’t say not a word different. She doesn’t know anything, she has no idea how she went there and similar stuff like that."

"Dem…"
"No, Blue, I have no idea who to trust, but I can assure you either someone is controlling her or the matter is much more different than what we are imagining," he said. "I have read her thoughts. They are repetitive. The same thing again and again. We don’t think that way. No one thinks that way.
If I know one thing in my life, I know how people think, what people think and what to expect of people’s thoughts at a certain period. But she… Her thoughts are not normal."
"Do they remind you of Mother’s thoughts?"
"No. Mother’s thoughts were positive all the time. Hers is not like that. Evelyn’s thoughts are not positive all the time. She thinks of many things. But there is a repetition.
The same thoughts go and come all the time. Mind doesn’t work that way. When something happens, no matter how similar it is to a previous occurrence, we don’t think with the exact same words that we previously thought with," he said. His brows furrowed. "You can be damn sure that something is very much wrong with her.
The way she was looking at us, it was like she was paying attention and she was listening. Do you know the best way to listen to a conversation you are not supposed to?"
I shook my head.
"It is to remain in plain sight and listen," he said. "Because no one expects that. She was in plain sight. We did not notice her because we did not expect her at all. And do you know that I heard no thoughts until I noticed her? Isn’t that strange?
I hear thoughts from a long way. She was just outside the window. But I heard nothing. I could not read her mind. It is only after I noticed her that I could read her mind. It’s true that I have to focus on someone to read their mind clearly.
But as I said, clearly. If I don’t focus on a certain person, I still should be able to hear their thoughts. Maybe it won’t be so clear, but the thought would be there, right in front of me and I would be able to read them like books."
Dem was getting agitated. I knew about the effect incidents like this had on him. He did not like to face any exception whose mind he could not read properly. He was angry when he found out Mother was blocking her real thoughts and he only could read what she wanted him to read.
I grabbed his hand and held it on his thigh.
"Blue, I’m telling you. Something is wrong with my sister. I don’t want to be too late. What if she is being controlled?"
"She is not being controlled. At least, I am not certain if she is. I mean, as I said before, I can see no black mana around her."
"I’m telling you, it’s like when someone who looked like me entered our bedroom and came to you. You did not recognize him at first."
I was ashamed that I did not recognize that dark mage at first. How could I mistake someone as my husband? Honestly, I did not want to remember that incident.
"I am not blaming you or anything. All I am saying is that what if this is the case this time as well."
I stared at him for a moment. I had no idea what to think. Then, I focused on Demian’s crib.
There was a lot of things that I needed to think about. But I had no idea what to think. Like what kind of thought was I supposed to have about any of the things that were going on?
Both of my sons were in danger. Azure might want Demian alive because Demian apparently had some kind of power that was very much unusual and extremely dangerous. But what about Dion? He would not care about my Dion at all. He might even kill him to punish me. Azure could do anything.
He would not look twice at my baby, thinking he was just a little boy, maybe it would not hurt to leave him alone. No, he would not think that way. He would hurt my baby. I knew he would do it.
And now, there was the matter with Evelyn. Something was wrong with her. Dem was now surer than ever about it. I did not doubt his judgment, especially when I also had the same doubt creeping in my head.

That night, we went to sleep. We were worried, but there was no way to skip sleep for that. Dem and I decided to talk about it more tomorrow and definitely come to a decision about it. Evelyn could not be left alone.
We were not certain if we should tell Evan everything. In my opinion, it was not a problem. Dem also thought the same thing. Maybe, we would tell him tomorrow and make things clear with him.
How stupid we were! We did not know it had been a warning. We had no idea that our opponent was moving faster. Our opponent was not sleeping like us. He was working. Precisely saying, they were working.
Azure might be the head of them all, but there were more people who wanted the power my son had, wanted my power and wanted to defeat me and make me submit to their master, my father.
The night was young. They were coming. But I was not ready.
