The Werewolf King's Bride-Chapter 551: Quarrel At The Banquet
(From Demetrius’s Perspective)
The banquet was full of people. I knew it would be exhausting, but now, it was more exhausting than I thought. I was tired of the noise and needed a break. Dion was too silent, possibly too surprised to be in a new environment. He was in my arms, clinging to me as if his life depended on it.
He felt so vulnerable and little. I hugged him tightly. This child would always depend on me to save him from everything else. It made my chest heavy. He needed me. I had never truly thought about it like this.
"It’s okay, buddy. Daddy is here," I whispered to him.
"Is he scared?" Blue asked.
"We need to go and take our seats. Maybe he will relax then," I said.
"Want to drink? Evan said he has watermelon juice prepared for the party because of me," Blue said.
"Good for you," I rolled my eyes.
"What?"
"What?" I repeated
"I don’t like your tone."
"You are always Evan Evan these days," I said.
"Dem, we talked about this. He is our friend."
"Your friend, Blue, not mine. He is an ally. A friend and an ally are different."
"Why do you hate it if I have a friend? A friend and a romantic partner are different too, you know," she said.
"I tell you nothing even when you are friends with Luc, Ruby, and the duchess," I said. "I just don’t like it when you get close to someone who can end up liking you. Have you forgotten what happened with Ezekiel? Luc is an exception."
"… So, you feel that way about Calix too?"
"Calix? No. He is your knight and although you are close with him, I can at least read his mind and know how he sees you," I said. That knight saw Blue as his master and more like someone he looked up to. I did not have to care about him.
She sighed. "Let’s just take our seats," she said.
We took our seats away from the crowd. Most of the eyes were on us, especially Blue. She was a matter of excitement, wonder, fear, envy, and in some cases, resentment.
She took a glass of watermelon juice while I took a glass of wine. Blue took Dion from me. Dion hid his face in her chest. He was scared.
"Aww, baby…," Blue mumbled as she rubbed his back.
"The noise is too much," I said.
"Yeah. Should we just…?"
"Have you seen how eager some people here are to talk to you?"
"They want to talk to me, but I don’t."
I chuckled. "Yeah, I like this attitude. Fuck them. If you want to, we can leave right away."
"Not leave the banquet right away. Maybe I can just find a quiet place. I have shown myself enough. We will come back later or something," she said.
"Alright. I will look for a room. Don’t leave this seat."
Well, even if she left her seat, it would be the easiest task in the world to find her here. She was too noticeable, not just because of her dress or scent, but also because of just who she was. Anyone could find her right away.
It took me a good ten minutes to find an empty room. I found two good rooms before, but in one room, someone was smoking and in the other one, there was a threesome sex going on. At last, the room I found was a small, but comfortable living room.
I went to find Blue and found her talking to the first prince of Ataraxia. That bastard had a smug look on his face as he was groping her with his eyes. My blood was boiling. I did not care if someone looked at my wife like they wanted to eat her. Well, maybe I cared a little, but definitely not enough to lose my temper. But I surely for whatever reasons could not contain my temper around this bastard.
"Maybe one dance will not hurt. Only one dance."
"I have my little son with me, first prince of Ataraxia. I cannot leave him here. And more importantly, my hips hurt," Blue said.
"But it is just one dance," he insisted, like the shameless scam he was.
"The Queen said she doesn’t want to. Is the first prince of Ataraxia dumb? Well, I should have known that, as you are from a kingdom that is basically ruled by priests now," I intervened.

"Ah, King of Querencia," he gave a small bow. "It is an honor to meet you."
"I cannot say the same about you. Well, enough chit-chat. Our son needs some time away from the crowd. So, excuse us, will you?" I said.
"… Yes, of course. Sure."
Blue got up quickly and as if she just wanted to get away as soon as possible, she started to get away from there as soon as she could. I held her hand and led her to the empty room I found for us.
"You have gotten a lot of offers to dance tonight," I said.
"Must be because we haven’t danced even once," she said.
"We have a son. Perita is eating and honestly, I would rather not leave Dion to her in this crowded place," I said.
Perita had been by Blue’s side the whole evening until Blue sent her to take a break.
She took a seat on the couch and sighed in relief. "It’s comfortable here," she said.
"Are you okay?"
"Do I not look okay?"
"Not exactly."
"… I don’t know, Dem. He makes me feel uncomfortable," she muttered. "The way he talks… I feel uncomfortable. It was not like this before. But now… Does he make you feel uncomfortable too?"
"Uncomfortable? Oh, no, no. But angry? Yes," I said. "I don’t like his thoughts."
"What does he think?" she asked. Dion had finally started to get more comfortable and now, he was yawning. Blue had positioned him in a way so he could sleep comfortably.
"You don’t need to hear about it," I said.
"Why not? How bad could it be?"
"Oh, so you want to hear about how someone else thinks of fucking you?!"
She stared at me, dumbfounded and Dion started crying. I regretted raising my voice like that.
"It’s not my fault that he thinks that way. I only asked you about it…," she mumbled.
"Do you know how angry it makes me? That fucking bastard! Every time he sees you, even if I am near, he will think about how to kiss you, how to fuck you, how to touch you! And I have to stand there and do nothing! Why? Because who knows what your damn father will do if another war breaks out!
It will only mean making an opportunity for him!"
"… Don’t yell…"
Her lips quivered as she looked at me who those watery blue eyes.
"I’m sorry…," I said, desperately trying to calm down. I had very bad anger issues. Luc used to tell me I had three moods- angry, angrier, and angriest. Maybe he was not entirely wrong after all. "I did not mean to yell at you. It’s not your fault, I know.
It’s just…"
She tried to soothe a crying Dion by rocking him in her arms. "Dem, I accepted you the way you are. Because I love you. I did it because I love you. And because you love me, you need to try to control yourself, at least around me, your family. Right now, you are just being selfish.
You know I don’t like it when you yell. You know it very well and you also know why. Why are you being selfish? Do you like seeing me… scared?"
A little bit. I was ashamed of what I was thinking. Maybe I liked it a little. But that was it. Overall, I did not want to see her scared of me.
She shook her head. "Dem, I’m telling you… It’s getting too much."
"Don’t tell me you want to leave me."
"No, I haven’t said that. Gosh… No, Dem, I don’t mean it," she said.
"Can you give us some privacy?" I said, trying to control my tone as I looked behind me.
"Ah, sorry, folks. I was not sure the King and the Queen of Querencia were middle of a fight," the Queen of Lacuna said with a smile.
"Of course, you weren’t. I bet you did not know from a mile away that an Alpha and his mate were here," I said. Other werewolves could not get the smell of Alphas, but Alphas could smell Alphas just fine. And since Blue was my mate, other werewolves might not smell her, but Alphas could. "But now that the Queen of Lacuna knows, maybe it is time to give us some privacy."
"A banquet is not somewhere where you can get a private space whenever you want to, King of Querencia," she said. "And from what I seem to understand, it looks like you are being unreasonable with the Queen of Querencia."
