Chapter 202: Chapter 202

Princess Eleanor did not waste any time as she walked out of the room as soon as Prince Arlo fell asleep.

"Princess." Nia stood there with worry in her eyes. Princess Eleanor could sense that she was blaming herself. But there really was no reason for her to blame herself like that. It was not like Nia was responsible for it. No one was.

’Yes, no one was responsible.’ Princess Eleanor nodded her head as her thoughts concentrated on Duke Felix. ’He is a man who everyone has misjudged.’

"Nia, do you want to stay with Arlo?" Princess Eleanor asked as she looked at her lady-in-waiting. Princess Eleanor knew what Nia was feeling. She was not guilty, but her heart was still unstable.

Nia nodded her head. Although she knew that she should not be here, Nia could not stop herself. Thinking that it was Duke Felix behind all of this only made her realise how blind she was in love.

"Princess, can I stay with the young prince? I heard that Doctor Raul will come to rewrap the wound soon. I might be some help to him. And you need to rest as well. After all, you have not slept for the whole night."

Nia’s tone was filled with worry, but there was also a slightly demanding tone in it as well. Princess Eleanor nodded her head as her lips curled up. "You stay with Arlo. And if you need anything, don’t forget to call me."

Nia nodded her head as she walked inside the room. Her eyes stayed on the young Prince who slept peacefully as if he had not slept for a few weeks.

Nia sighed as she walked beside the bed and sat down. Her eyes never left Prince Arlo as she thought about yesterday’s event. It was when Princess Eleanor had asked her to come to inform her that maybe the young Prince would be arriving soon.

Nia was confused at first, but then her eyes started widening as she heard that maybe Duke Felix was the one who wanted to kill the Prince to get the throne. No matter how Nia thought at first, it felt untrue. After all, she had known the man for many years. They both had shared a love, so how could she not know if they were in love? But as she listened to Princess Eleanor’s thoughts it all started to make sense.

’You could not marry Princess Eleanor because her family wanted her to marry for love. So you decided to show that you love me.’ Nia cursed in her mind as she thought. ’It was you who killed her family. You killed her family and then decided to marry Princess Macy. Was I so blinded in love that I could not see your deception?’

Nia sighed as her eyes darkened. ’You married her without any thoughts. You never asked me to stay with you even once. There was determination in your voice to marry me. Have you always had the intention of keeping me as a plaything? Why? Because you never really loved me and only used me to get the information you needed? Did you calculate everything so that Princess Eleanor could never return to the Angevin Kingdom once she enters the Roulux Empire?’

Nia bit her lips as her thoughts became anxious. ’Yes, you are such a kind of person, Felix. A person who stops at nothing for your own gains. A person who does not have a conscience. You were not satisfied with the fact that you were a Princess’s husband. You wanted the throne. Of course, you could kill your best friend Prince Edwin for your selfish motives. So why not a child?’

Nia’s eyes were filled with tears as she looked at the sleeping Prince Arlo. Nia knew that she was not to be blamed for whatever happened, but she could not help herself. "I wished I never loved the man. I hope I can forget him quickly." Nia murmured under her breath as a string of tears started flowing down her cheeks.

Only her sobs could be heard in the quiet room until a small hand touched her. Surprised, Nia looked down at the hand only to realise that the sleeping prince was now awake.

Nia rubbed her eyes in a hurry as she said. "I will call Princess Eleanor."

"Let Sister sleep. She looks tired too." Prince Arlo said as he looked at Nia whom he had hardly seen. His eyes glowed as he smiled. "Nia, were you crying for me?"

—-------

Princess Eleanor walked towards her room when she saw a man standing in the corner with his body leaning against the wall. Princess Eleanor did not have to think twice to know who it was as her eyes narrowed.

Prince Arlo’s words were still fresh in her mind as she walked towards him and said, "Sir Kit, why are you waiting for me?"

Sir Kit stood straight. There was a slight pain on his back but he neglected it as he nodded his head. "I had something to report."

Princess Eleanor could sense the slight movement of the man. She could understand that he was hurt and no matter how hard he was trying to maintain his expression, he failed miserably.

"Reports should not be given in the corridor.’’ Princess Eleanor smiled but it did not reach her eyes. "Let’s talk in my room."

Princess Eleanor walked towards the direction of her room as she could sense Sir Kit following. There were many times that she wanted to stop and look back at the man, but she controlled herself.

’He is hurt.’ Princess Eleanor thought as she sighed. ’Was he waiting there the whole time?’

Princess Eleanor’s eyes narrowed as she opened the door and walked inside. She held onto the door and looked back at Sir Kit until he entered. As he walked past her, she could see the coagulated blood on his back along with a long wound from the sword.

Princess Eleanor knew that Sir Kit did not treat the wound. ’Does he not feel the pain? He could have at least disinfected it and applied something.’ Princess Eleanor complained internally as she bit her lips. ’Doctor Raul was there. He could have just given him something and yet no one took a step as if they are used to such things?’

Princess Eleanor closed the door as she locked it. Her eyes stayed on Sir Kit. "Is Sir Kit used to getting hurt?"

Sir Kit flinched at Princess Eleanor’s words. "Huh?"

Princess Eleanor shook her head as she walked towards the man. Her fingers lightly touched the skin beside the wound as her eyes narrowed. "Is it not painful?"

Sir Kit knew better what Princess Eleanor was trying to do. He wanted to say no, but the slight touch from her fingers was making him shiver for the first time.

And it was true that it was a little painful, but he had been to the battlefield so many times that he felt he was able to ignore the pain. Although there was a slight chance that Sir Kit could feel unbearable pain now, the many times he had been wounded have made him stronger.

"Princess..." Sir Kit took a deep breath as he walked towards the chair. He did not sit or say anything but his intentions were loud and clear.

Princess Eleanor closed her eyes as she took a deep breath. "I understand. Please sit."

Sir Kit sat at Princess Eleanor’s words but his body could not relax. He could still feel the cold touch of the Princess’ fingers on his skin, making him aware of her more than ever.

"Was it done by the Crown Prince?" Princess Eleanor asked as she stood beside Sir Kit. Her gaze moved to his back from time to time.

"Yes." Sir Kit nodded his head as he took the badges that were in a bag from his pocket. He laid the bag on the table only to see Princess Eleanor pry them open and pick one badge out.

"Badge of House Beaumont..." Princess Eleanor murmured. Her eyes narrowed as she rubbed the image of the carved dragon on them with her thumb. If it was someone who did not know the difference and saw it, they would only think that the Grand Duke had planned the attack. But Princess Eleanor did not think so.

Princess Eleanor’s eyes were fixed on the dragon. It was the same dragon she had seen on the badge that Sir Kit wore when he first came to escort her. A dragon on the badge and a dragon on the seal. Both looked the same but they were so different.

"It’s similar to the one on your badge." Princess Eleanor murmured as her hold on the badge tightened. "If my memory serves me right, it was the Emperor who had made such badges of every house, right?"

Sir Kit nodded his head. He knew that he did not have to explain further. Princess Eleanor understood everything there was to understand.

"I think we have no choice but to fight." Princess Eleanor sighed as she placed the badge back into the small bag. "I think you will need to report this to Grand Duke Beaumont."

Sir Kit’s body stiffened as he swallowed hard. He did not reply but nodded stiffly. It was getting more difficult to hide his real identity from the Princess. Not only was it difficult, but he was also getting reluctant to do so.

"But an injured body can never be ready to fight." Princess Eleanor said as her eyes turned back to Sir Kit.
