Chapter 191: Chapter 191

Duke Felix looked at the people around him with a smile on his face.

After the brief fight with Princess Macy, he was right on track on understanding the situation at hand. He could feel that the problem was solved for the moment, but not completely eradicated. The bud of doubt was already planted into Princess Macy’s mind and it would be very difficult to remove.

Duke Felix looked to the side as he saw Princess Macy walking towards the altar with a smile. Her eyes were glowing as if she was the happiest woman in the world.

Duke Felix looked at the side only to see the King and Queen having an emotional moment. Their eyes were red and tears were welling up in them. Although they sat at the highest position, the King had decided to walk towards his daughter as he took her hand.

Duke Felix could see young Prince Arlo at the side, with a smile on his face. Although the Prince’s lips were curled, his eyes narrowed as he looked at Duke Felix.

Duke Felix smiled as he nodded his head towards the young Prince. He knew that whatever he was about to do was not right, but there was a possibility that it would not go through.

Duke Felix looked to the side as he saw the people assigned as guards. Many of the royal knights stood guarding the location and there were new faces amongst them too. Most belonged to Duke Felix’s mansion. Duke Felix looked to the side at the new knights, as he saw the badges on their shirts. A small teardrop shape that is getting integrated naturally.

Duke Felix nodded slightly as he moved his eyes towards the Princess again who was now standing in front of him. Prince Arlo was beside her as he came forward and took Princess Macy’s hand and put it in Duke Felix’s hand.

Prince Arlo knew that he was young and people treated him like one too. But only a few of them knew that he was very observant and intelligent. Although Princess Macy was his real sister, he was much closer to Princess Eleanor and after Princess Eleanor was talking to the Roulux Empire, he was there observing the slight changes occurring near him.

Prince Arlo saw the people that Duke Felix was observing but he did not show any visible changes outwardly. He looked at them from time to time but soon he walked back to his position along with his father, the King.

Princess Macy stood in front of Duke Felix. Her heart was beating fast as she swallowed nervously.

She had been waiting for this day for so many years. She had always dreamt of what she would wear to their future wedding and how she would do her hair. Princess Macy had a vision that she felt it to never be a reality. But now that she is seeing this wedding commencing, she is sure that it will be a reality soon enough. After all, she was standing in front of the man that she loved with all her heart and was about to recite their wedding vows.

"They look so happy,"

"I know, I thought that maybe Duke Felix would still be resisting the wedding until the end with all the situation between him and Princess Eleanor."

"Shh.... Don’t you know that it was always a rumor? Nothing is going on between them at all. To be honest, I never believed it either."

"I know, now that we know why Duke Felix was avoiding Princess Eleanor, I feel so dumb. I wished my husband was as romantic."

"Yes, he surprised the Princess with a diamond mine and even managed to get a Priest from the Roulux Empire to officiate the wedding. If this does not show Duke Felix’s true heart, then I don’t know what does,"

The whispers started spreading in the surrounding area until the Priest started the solemnization of the wedding vows. The wedding was going smoothly and there was a smile on both Princess Macy and Duke Felix’s faces.

"I always knew that they were meant to be together." The Queen smiled as she said the words. Her eyes were filled with tears but the meaning behind them was evil.

’I wish you were here to see the man whom your daughter loved so much to be married to my daughter.’ The Queen thought as she looked up at the sky for a brief second. Her hate for the previous king was getting more intense. If it was not for him rejecting her and marrying the woman with no noble status, the situation would have been different today.

The Queen still remembered the day she walked into Duke Felix’s house to offer him a deal. She could sense that Duke Felix did not love Princess Eleanor. He adored her and respected her but did not love her. It was not difficult to understand what he was aiming for. A position of the Princess’s husband. So the current Queen took a stand. She will manipulate and make her husband revolt against his brother and all Duke Felix had to do was marry Princess Macy when it is all over.

Who knew that Duke Felix would agree. Although the Queen smiled, her real happiness was when she killed the man who refused to marry her and make some other unknown lady his Queen. She had plotted and killed a ruler of the entire Kingdom.

’If only you did not betray me, you would still be sitting beside me alive and happy. But you only got what you deserve.’ The Queen shook her head. It was not hard for her to realize that Duke Felix did not love Princess Eleanor as she could see the same emotions and facial expressions the previous king used to show to her. It was not hatred but neither was it love as well. And that made her resent him more.

’Your dear wife took a man I love away from me and now I took your daughter’s love away from her. With you dead, and me being the queen, I think my revenge is fulfilled.’

"They really are." the King looked at his Queen as he touched her hand with an overflowing emotion in his eyes. "I am just happy that our daughter got to marry the man she wanted."

The Queen nodded her head as she looked at her daughter reciting her vows. Soon there were cheers in the surrounding area as everyone clapped their hands and the flower petals were spread around.

The Queen knew that it was done by Duke Felix as she looked at him who was looking at another person too. He gave a small nod as he refocused his gaze on Princess Macy.

"I am happy to marry you." Duke Felix’s voice was soft, which felt like honey to Princess Macy’s ears. He moved forward as he touched her cheeks softly as if she was the most delicate person in the world. Someone who he wanted to protect.

"Now you are no longer the Princess of the Angevin Kingdom. You are my wife. The Duchess of House Landon." Duke Felix’s words were not soft and quiet as a whisper but they were loud and clear as if he was making a declaration before everyone present.

Duke Felix moved closer as he touched Princess Macy’s lips. The kiss was not something that usually was done at a wedding. It was a passionate kiss as if telling everyone that he was here to get married out of love. His wife was someone he truly cared about and the rightful owner of the title.

It was not a declaration to the outside world but also to Princess Macy that she was the only one and there is no need for her to worry.

"Duchess Landon." Duke Felix smiled as he took hold of Princess Macy’s hand and walked together with her towards the King and Queen as he bowed his head.

There were only smiles and happiness in the environment. Duke Felix smiled as looked up at Prince Arlo. He observed the little Prince who was silently sitting beside the King as if it was not his sister who was getting married but someone else.

Duke Felix did not take Prince Arlo into his eyes. Even if the young Prince was not happy, it was not his concern. The position he was aiming for was the one where the King sat. After all, he had gone through so much just because he wanted to sit there.

"My daughter," The King got up as he hugged his daughter. The Queen stood at the side as she observed this and smiled.

The Queen walked beside Duke Felix as she said in a whisper, "I am happy that we were able to see this day happen."

Duke Felix nodded his head, "Yes, how can our struggle and planning go to waste? It was a good run."

The Queen’s lips curled up as she said in a loud voice, "I hope Duke Felix will love and cherish our daughter. I have high hopes for you."

Duke Felix bowed his head yet again as if he was showing respect as he said, "The Queen should not worry. She is my wife now. Someone I love and cherish. I will always put her demands first."

The Queen nodded her head as she looked behind Duke Felix towards all the people smiling and cheering.
