The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 166
Princess Eleanor and Sir Kit were on the bed, each wrapped in the other’s arms.
Although they had expressed their emotions to each other, there were still anxious feelings in their hearts as the battle was not over yet. Sir Kit ran his fingers through Princess Eleanor’s hair as they both were engulfed in their own thoughts.
Princess Eleanor looked up at the man who still had his mask on. Although they have only kissed, they both knew in their hearts that this relationship was something that they both want to pursue further. Princess Eleanor could feel the same vibe from Sir Kit.
’He said that the time is not right,’ Princess Eleanor thought, ’And that he would show me his face when it is. But what is it that he is hiding?’
The question kept troubling Princess Eleanor and no matter how hard she tried to control her curious mind, she could not help but feel dejected. The mere thought of Sir Kit hiding something so important from her was refusing to leave her thoughts.
"Can you give me a definite time?" Princess Eleanor finally asked in a soft voice as she turned her body sideways and moved her weight onto her hand. Her eyes were hopeful as she looked at Sir Kit with a trembling smile, "As in... a time when you deem it right to remove this mask."
Princess Eleanor’s finger trailed over the edges of the mask as she asked that question. She could feel that with a flick of a finger, the mask could be removed without much effort. But she knew that it would not sit well with Sir Kit if she went against his wishes. She should respect the man’s decision as he respected hers.
Sir Kit was in deep thought. Princess Eleanor’s words have brought his thoughts into perspective. He knew that he would not be able to hide his true identity from her for long. Also he truly did not want to hide it as well. Just that it was necessary for now.
"When Priest Erasmus announces that you are the chosen one, then would be the time." Sir Kit caressed Princess Eleanor’s hand that was lingering at the edge of his mask as he brought them to his lips and kissed them slowly, "I hope the Princess will be able to wait."
Sir Kit then saw Princess Eleanor nodding her head. He knew that if the Crown Prince told Priest Erasmus to say the words, the Priest would say it without a second thought. After all, only a few people knew that God’s wish was actually a hoax, and that it was something that the Emperor wanted.
"I know," Princess Eleanor said in a tired tone. Her eyes were struggling to stay open as she was feeling very sleepy. She struggled to but finally, her strength gave up as she snuggled herself into Sir Kit’s arms and fell into a deep sleep.
Sir Kit looked at Princess Eleanor as a smile played over his face. He was happy that the Princess found support in him. She was able to lower her guard and sleep comfortably.
Princess Eleanor moved around a little before she found a comfortable position and settled down. Her breathing evened out as she moved even closer to Sir Kit.
Sir Kit was happy but many other emotions were overflowing. There was a possibility that the Crown Prince had something else in mind but he did not know what it was yet.
’If Crown Prince Richard had said something, then he must have a way to make it happen. Thinking about it, then the only way to achieve what he had done for the Princess is with the help of Priest Erasmus.’ Sir Kit thought as he looked up at the ceiling. ’But why would he ask the temple to call every princess to attend the selection here in the Empire? It does not make any sense unless the Crown Prince has a plan in action. But what is his plan?’
Sir Kit took a deep breath as he turned his head and saw Princess Eleanor’s calm face. ’The only thing that was good in this overall situation is that you were pulled out of that living hell. Now you know all who were involved in the death of your family and you can take your revenge accordingly.’
Sir Kit smiled as he brushed his knuckles across Princess Eleanor’s cheeks. He knew that the Princess would not respond as she was fast asleep. But he still said it in a small voice, "Let’s just hope this will all end quickly."

"My Lord." As soon as Duke Beaumont entered the room, he removed the mask and kept it on the table. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Lady Gisella who was waiting in the room could not help but bow her head as she said in a hurry, "I was able to find out something."
The Grand Duke nodded his head as he sat on the chair. He was only able to sleep a little as he knew that there was a pile of work pending in the study room. "What is it?"
"The Crown Prince wants to use Princess Eleanor to find your weakness." Lady Gisella said in a small tone as she looked down at the floor. Her eyes stayed fixed there as she continued reporting, "He thinks that even if you do not have any feelings for her, you still have a soft spot for the Princess. So once he gets the confirmation from the Princess, the Crown Prince will demand for her to find out your weakness."
"That will not happen," The Grand Duke said in confidence as he smiled. He leaned a little forward as he continued, "The Princess knows what to say and what not to."
"But she does not know you..." Lady Gisella said in a small tone, "How can you trust her?"
"I can trust her because of her reasons." Sir Kit said as he tapped his finger on the table, "A person would not hand over pertinent information to the man she wants to get revenge on."
Lady Gisella looked up at the Grand Duke as her eyes widened, "What does the Lord mean by this?"
"The Crown Prince is the reason why her family was murdered. He or the Emperor, but definitely someone from the royal family, had sent the soldiers there to attack and kill her family." Duke Christopher closed his eyes as he continued, "And she was able to find out the truth. You have known her the longest, Lady Gisella. What do you think the Princess would do? Will she help the man who had killed her loved ones?"
"Princess Eleanor will never do that," Lady Gisella said in full confidence. She closed her eyes and she took a deep breath before opening them again, "What does the Lord want me to do?"
The Grand Duke looked at Lady Gisella quietly as if he was observing her but soon he moved his hand around the desk and a letter was then placed in front of Lady Gisella.
Lady Gisella was confused. She did not know what the letter contained, and she knew that the Grand Duke might not tell her directly. The only reason why he left it there was that he wanted her to read it personally. Lady Gisella did not waste any more time as she opened the letter and slowly read the content.
Her eyes widened in shock as her head snapped up to look at the Grand Duke, "This is abrupt. We should not allow it."
"I think we should," the Grand Duke said with a smile, "It will be something that can irritate and annoy the Crown Prince. So if the opportunity itself is walking towards us, then why should we refuse it?"
Lady Gisella was silent as she looked at the Grand Duke with unusual eyes. It did not make any sense, especially when the Grand Duke gave the permission himself.
"So should I ask the kitchen to make preparations?" Lady Gisella asked as she saw the Grand Duke nodding his head in agreement, "And should I ask them to prepare the rooms as well?"
The Grand Duke laughed but soon his eyes turned dark. He had many emotions buried inside of him that he wanted to express but he managed to keep them under wraps.
"No need to arrange rooms for them. They will not stay the night. Please inform them that we can entertain them only until after serving the evening snacks. And then we hope that they can return to the Royal Palace."
Lady Gisella swallowed nervously as she looked at the letter again. Her hold on the letter tightened but she nodded her head, "I will inform them."
Lady Gisella put the letter back down on the table as she looked at the Grand Duke, but before she could go, The Grand Duke said in a small voice, "And ask your informants to spread rumors for me."
Lady Gisella looked at the Grand Duke to continue, "Make sure that every Princess that will be visiting us tomorrow knows that the Crown Prince wants them to wear the badge of loyalty." The Grand Duke’s eyes darkened as he smirked, "I really want to understand the situation."
Lady Gisella did not know what to make of the situation but she knew that she could not question the Grand Duke’s intentions. She nodded her head as she said, "The rumors will be spread. I know why the Princesses want to enter the Beaumont mansion. It is not because they care for Princess Eleanor as it was written in the letter. They just do not want someone else to be close to the Crown Prince."
"And I should take advantage of this fact." The Grand Duke said with a smile, "I am eagerly waiting for tomorrow to come."
