Chapter 163: Chapter 163

Lady Gisella entered the study room which was engulfed in darkness.

"Lord," Lady Gisella bowed respectfully as she could sense a cold energy coming her way. "You were right, the Princess was indeed confused. The Crown Prince is trying to convince her to become the Crown Princess."

The temperature of the air surrounding them dropped drastically as the man wearing a mask threw a sharp gaze at Lady Gisella. "And how do you know that?"

"Princess Eleanor was curious about the powers that an Empress would wield." Lady Gisella bit her lips as she was a little afraid to continue, "But I feel like the Princess is inclined to become the future Empress."

"And what do you think the Princess should do?" The man asked as his eyes narrowed. "Should she strive to be the Empress?"

Lady Gisella looked up as she saw the dark gaze of the man. She knew that she had to be careful with her words, but she also wanted to tell the truth. After some consideration, she spoke, "To be honest, the Princess has a right to dream. And looking at her condition and circumstances I am inclined to think that the Princess’s viewpoint is not wrong. She can be the Empress and exact revenge, but she has to be careful of who she chooses."

"And why so?"

"Well," Lady Gisella took a deep breath, "The Crown Prince may not be able to help her with the revenge. After all, he wants to keep his good relationships intact and he would need them as well, once he ascends the throne. Princess Eleanor would need someone who understands her, someone who will not care what the other nobles think about her and can take actions."

The man removed his mask and laid it on the table. He laced his fingers together as he leaned forward, "I thought you did not like the Princess?"

Lady Gisella smiled as her body relaxed. She could feel the pressure surrounding her lessen. "Yes, I did not. But I think that now, I have gotten used to the idea of the Princess being the way she is. After all, if I cannot change things then I should learn to adapt to it. And to be honest, Princess Eleanor is really not that bad."

Lady Gisella’s eyes brightened as she blinked, "I think that the Princess can be a wonderful mistress. But will the Duke be able to handle her ambitions?"

"I can handle them very well." Duke Beaumont laughed as his eyes crinkled and brightened up, "Maybe I can even spoil her?"

Lady Gisella nodded her head as she did not doubt the Grand Duke’s words at all. She felt like the man would really like to spoil the princess in the future, but she did not fear it. Lady Gisella know the Princess enough to understand her character. She would never take advantage of the status she was given, apart from using it to exact her revenge.

"Lady Gisella," The Grand Duke said as he wanted to bring Lady Gisella back to reality, "It has been a long time since you have come here."

Lady Gisella nodded her head as she looked at the Grand Duke with a slightly narrowed gaze. She waited in anticipation for him to complete the words he wanted to say.

"The Crown Prince is here. You should meet him," the Grand Duke suggested mildly as he looked at how Lady Gisella’s smile had fallen. He knew that the Lady did not like the Crown Prince that much. But she had to go and offer her respects.

Lady Gisella knew that she could not avoid it, but her eyes stayed on the Grand Duke. It was unusual for him to point it out. If it was not something that he wanted from the Crown Prince, Lady Gisella knew that the Grand Duke never would have said anything in the first place.

"Let me tell you what I want," Lady Gisella listened carefully and nodded her head enthusiastically, as The Grand Duke spoke. He narrowed his gaze at Lady Gisella and continued, "Utilize your raiders now. I want information, so get your people moving."

Lady Gisella nodded her head as her ears and eyes sharpened, "Yes."

"The Crown Prince looks confident in his words. If he is saying that he can make her the Crown Princess, then he must have a plan in action. I want all the details of it. Everything from the people who are deeply involved, to the people who even have a slight knowledge of it."

Lady Gisella’s body straightened as her thoughts became clear and sharp. "But if the Crown Prince had such a trick up his sleeves, then Commander Colt should have known it already."

"That is true. But from what I have observed, the Crown Prince is very secretive about his movements. He tells everyone one thing, but does something different. The man is not keeping all of his eggs in one basket, so make sure that you get even the smallest bit of information and send it all over to me." The Grand Duke instructed as he got up from the chair before moving towards the window.

Lady Gisella nodded her head, "I understand. I will find out everything possible and report back to you in the next two days."

The Grand Duke Beaumont did not look back at her but simply nodded his head in acknowledgement. He knew that he could not ask Lady Gisela to escalate the process as it might affect the quality, and ultimately he would not receive any valuable information.

Duke Beaumont could hear Lady Gisella walking away after he heard the door close. As soon as the sounds of her footsteps were gone, a shadow appeared in the room as the man bowed his head, "Lord."

The Grand Duke looked back as he saw Commander Colt. He wanted to laugh as he saw the man standing there looking frightened. "The Crown Prince is angry as he could not get the time to talk to the Princess."

Commander Colt could feel the temperature surrounding him drop. A shiver ran down his spine as he took a steadying breath before continuing, "But the Crown Prince is determined to have dinner with the Princess."

"Tell him that the Princess is not well and needs her rest." The Grand Duke said in a dull voice but there was an overbearing command in it.

Commander Colt nodded his head as he looked at the Grand Duke, but seeing the look on his face, he could not help but gulp. Commander Colt remembered why the Grand Duke was so angry.

They were hiding in a tree as they observed the Crown Prince and the Princess walking in the garden. Commander Colt could feel the resentment from the Grand Duke’s body but because he was wearing a mask, he could not be sure if his thoughts were right or not.

And when he saw the Crown Prince coming near the Princess as he touched her, a wave of evil hit him. He could hear something breaking and when Commander Colt moved his head all he could see was that one of the branches near the Grand Duke had snapped. The fear he felt at that time was greater than anything he had ever felt in his life. He wanted to disappear that very moment, but then he saw the burning rage in the Grand Duke’s eyes. He was about to dash out and hit the Crown Prince.

Commander Colt had to make a choice and he already knew the correct answer. He took a deep breath and walked towards the Crown Prince and Princess Eleanor, breaking them apart. But after looking at the Grand Duke, Commander Colt knew that the man had not forgotten the event. He would hold onto this grudge.

"Lord, The Crown Prince knows that you are not in the mansion." Commander Colt’s voice was small as if he was whispering.

"And?"

"Well, if you come out now, or the Crown Prince sees you, then things will not be easy. He might consider it as lying to the Royal Family." Commander Colt wanted to be reasonable. After all, everyone knew that the relationship between the Crown Prince and the Grand Duke was anything but stable.

"Colt, you do not have to worry about it." Duke Christopher’s eyes turned sharp as his voice turned deep. "All you need to focus on for now is keeping the Princess and the Crown Prince separated. I know that you cannot keep them apart forever, but you should always remember that you are her escort. So you are duty bound to stay near and protect her. Do not let any filthy things touch her."

Duke Christopher’s fingers curled into a tight fist as he looked straight into Commander Colt’s eyes, "I do not know what the Crown Prince would do, but if you are not with her when that man is there, I will kill you. If you cannot protect the person you are assigned to protect, you have no right to live."

Commander Colt felt a chill crawl down his spine as he nodded his head. "I understand, Lord."

As soon as he got the indication, Commander Colt made to leave the study. But before he could go further, he heard the Grand Duke say, "He wants time to talk to her? He can dream all he wants."
