The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 158
"Let’s get straight to the point." Princess Eleanor said as she looked at the two people sitting opposite her.
"You must have known that the seeds are poisonous." Princess Eleanor saw the seriousness in Doctor Raul’s face as she continued, "I will not deny that it is not. It is, that is the reason why I was weaning the gloves but looking at Doctor Raul, you must have used tweezers to remove it, otherwise, your symptoms would be worse than mine."
Doctor Raul nodded his head. "Yes, I had used a tweezer. This is why I could be standing in front of you. But looking at Princess, she must have suffered a lot even after using the gloves."
"The poison is powerful," Princess Eleanor smiled but soon her eyes narrowed, "But let’s not talk about it. I want Doctor Raul’s help and in return, I will help you as well."
"And why will I need your help, Princess?" Doctor Raul folded his hands as he leaned back. His eyes looked at Princess Eleanor but soon he felt a strong aura around him, making him a little weak. "I am a man you have his loyalty to Duke Beaumont"
"And I will never let you be against Duke Beaumont," Princess Eleanor smiled as she blinked her eyes. "I want Doctor Raul to help me find a cure to the poison." Princess Eleanor looked at the man whose eyes shined in excitement.
Princess Eleanor always knew that Doctor Raul was someone who was curious about things. He was a man who wanted to learn and explore new things. Seeing him bring her medicines and even deducing some of the rare poisons, Princess Eleanor knew that he was not someone who was easy to deal with.
"A cure for the poison?" Doctor Raul leaned forward with interest. His eyes looked straight at Princess Eleanor with curiosity. "Doesn’t the Princess know the cure?"
"I had come across the poison by mistake and I have very little knowledge of it. I will let you know all the things that I know about it but I want you to do three things for me." Princess Eleanor was smiling but her eyes were serious. Anyone who saw her would know that the princess was in no position to joke around at the moment.
"Three things?" Doctor Raul looked at Sir Kit who was observing Princess Eleanor with great interest. It was clear that he wanted to know what was going on in her mind.
’If he does not object, why should I care then?’ Doctor Raul thought as he nodded his head indicating the Princess to continue.
"First, I want to grow the flowers here. They are a rare variety and hard to obtain. I will let Doctor Raul know everything that needs to be known for taking care of them. And I hope Doctor Raul will deliver the flowers to me whenever I need them." Princess Eleanor looked at Sir Kit as she continued, "Sir Kit can bring them to me in the palace. Will you?"
Sir Kit looked at the hopeful gaze of Princess Eleanor as he sighed and nodded his head, "Yes,"
Doctor Raul could not believe his ears. It was a shock to him to see the man so patiently sitting there with a mask, tricking the innocent Princess, but now he even agreed to be her delivery man. Doctor Raul could not understand what was wrong with him. He sighed as he said, "What is there for me?"
"You can take a few flowers to experiment," Princess Eleanor said with a smile as if the deal she was offering was a fair one.
Doctor Raul’s lips twitched as he said, "The flowers are in the Grand Duke’s ground. Why would I need your permission to take them?"
"I planted them, putting my life on the line." Princess Eleanor blinked her eyes, "Sir Kit, do you think my condition is unfair?"
"No, you planted them so they are yours,"
Doctor Raul gritted his teeth, ’This man,’ He wanted to curse but he maintained his composure, "What is the second request."
"I want you to find a cure, but a temporary cure." Princess Eleanor said. She could see the confused look in Doctor Raul’s eyes as she laughed, "Let me explain, with my third request."
Doctor Raul’s eyes narrowed. He waited patiently for Princess Eleanor to continue, but his fingers had already formed a fist under the table.
"When Doctor Raul is studying the poison I want you to create one as well," Princess Eleanor spoke softly as if she was saying something that was supposed to be a secret. "A poison similar to this one. Something that has similar effects but has a known cure."
Doctor Raul raised his eyebrows in confusion, He wanted to ask more questions when Princess Eleanor continued, "This about this, If there are two poisons with similar effects then people will associate the poisoning with the one whose cure is known. So the medicine given will be for that particular poison but when the medicine will not work, people might get suspicious and try to find out more about the poison,"
"Just like I did," The words came out of Doctor Raul’s mouth subconsciously.
Princess Eleanor nodded, "But if we have a cure that can relieve the symptoms a little then no one will suspect, right."
"You want me to find a cure to your poison that will relieve the symptoms but not completely cure the person. You want them to die without showing any symptoms to others, that is cruel."
Princess Eleanor smiled at Doctor Raul’s words. Was she really cruel in her approach? Princess Eleanor knew that the method she had found was not ethical. She was going to kill people, but right now, she did not care. She had prepared for her revenge for a long time and she was going to get it even if people called her cruel or evil.
"Am I?" Princess Eleanor laughed as her eyes sharpened, "Maybe I am. Anyways Doctor Raul had gotten it right. I want the person to get killed without anyone knowing. And I think you are the most capable of it."
"And you trust me?" Doctor Raul asked. He was curious from the start. Why would Princess Eleanor reveal so much of her plan? It was clear that she would be poisoning someone in the future and she wants them to die. And yet she said it so casually as if she was not afraid of getting discovered, "What if I go and inform others?"
"Will you go and inform others?" Princess Eleanor smiled as she leaned forward, "As per my observation, Doctor Raul does not have a good relationship with the temple nor the Emperor. If you had then I would not have been transferred here. You would be treating me at the temple or at the Royal palace. So who will Doctor Raul say that I plan to kill someone? To the Grand Duke?"
Princess Eleanor raised her eyebrows in question, "Well, I can tell the only person you care about is Duke Beaumont, and let me tell you I am not going to kill the Grand Duke." Princess Eleanor blinked her eyes as she said, "And from what I know, the Grand Duke will not care even if I kill someone, so is there any reason to question me?"
"But, why are you trusting me?"
"Because Sir Kit’s trust’s you and I trust him." Princess Eleanor smiled as she looked at the man with a mask. "Sir Kit believes in you. So I will take this chance." Princess Eleanor looked at Doctor Raul as she continued, "The Crown Prince will come tomorrow so I will need an answer now. Will Doctor Raul help me? You will get to satisfy your curiosity and I will get to get my revenge,"
Doctor Raul was speechless as he looked at Sir Kit, "What do you think?" He knew that he could not be the one taking decisions over this matter. He needs the Grand Duke’s opinion.
Sir Kit looked at Princess Eleanor as he saw her staring at him. From the voice of Doctor Raul, Princess Eleanor knew that Sir Kit’s opinion was the most important to the man. A word from him will really help her in the matter.
Sir Kit nodded his head, "But the Princess has to agree not to get poisoned again. It is dangerous and there is a limit that you can push yourself to."
Sir Kit’s tone was strict as if he was scolding her but to Princess Eleanor’s ears, it felt like a man worried about a woman. She knew Sir Kit’s heart and somewhere she had a good impression of him, ’Maybe when this all ends, we can figure out our relationship.’ Princess Eleanor smiled as she nodded her head.
"I will let Doctor Raul handle everything," Princess Eleanor looked at Doctor Raul as she said in a small voice, "You will handle it all, won’t you."
Doctor Raul nodded his head. He was happy that he found something interesting to investigate but he feared that the Princess was way too strategic. But he was most afraid of the Grand Duke who was showing emotions that he never had.
