Thunk!
The abandoned house was empty. The remaining giant mutated animals around were killed and they cleaned up some giant mutated rabbits to eat. Staying there, Lotte looked at Jake and stayed silently beside him.
The others didn’t disturb these two and busy cleaned up the place so that it could be used to stay for the night.
Kyle took a room and stayed inside with Kate.
Marc glanced at Lucy, who was watching them. “Do you want to stop them?”
“No.” Lucy shook her head and sighed deeply as she kicked the nearby tree that it fell down. “I don’t think I’m suitable to go between them when they trust each other so much.”
During the time when she was not by Kate’s side, Lucy had guessed that Kate and Kyle learned how to trust each other. It was because of this relationship that Lucy felt that she had no place between them.
Anyway, it was not her place to meddle in her best friend’s private relationship.
Marc thought about it and nodded.
.....
The others quickly moved about to clean up the place and made sure that no giant mutated animals could get close. Once it was done, Lucy walked towards Robby and hugged the big dog once more.
She just liked this dog so much.
“Wang?” <What is it?>
“I let her borrow you for some time,” Marc explained to his silly dog and patted Robby’s head. He knew that Lucy was a bit depressed and angry, but there was nothing that they could do right now.
Right now, he only wanted to make Lucy felt better.
Even if it was only a bit.
“Wang!” <Master, why are you lending me away to others?>
Robby looked at Marc with accusation. He was not an item that could be lent to others so easily, ok? f𝘳ℯℯ𝙬𝒆𝚋𝐧oν𝑒Ɩ.c𝑜𝙢
“Be good. You like Lucy too, right? She’s a bit sad right now, so let her stay with you, ok?” Marc smiled and coaxed his silly dog.
“Wang!” <Ok! >
Robby thought about it and nodded, his tail wagged in his agreement.
Lucy, who was still hugging Robby, buried her face deeper in Robby’s thick fur. For some reason, her cheek reddened a bit listening to Marc coaxing his dog. She couldn’t understand Robby’s language, but she could guess that this dog had agreed with what Marc said.
…
Inside the room, Kyle was monitoring Kate’s condition. He was relieved when he felt that her temperature had returned to normal. If something were to happen to her, Kyle knew that it would be impossible for him to keep calm.
He looked at Kate and muttered in a low voice, “I won’t let you stay far away again from me, understand?”
Even if he wanted to respect her choices and all, he felt that it would be better for him to be hated by her rather than letting her put herself in a dangerous situation again. When he saw her being surrounded like that, he was so angry that he wanted to destroy the entire world so that no one would harm her again.
Kyle silently caressed Kate’s forehead. “Wake up, please?”
As if hearing his plea, Kate stirred up slightly. She blinked her eyes a few times, her vision was blurry.
Her movement was not unnoticed by Kyle. He looked at Kate expectantly while the young woman tried her best to adjust to the new vision in front of her.
She was just dreaming.
An extremely long and terrifying dream.
But she couldn’t remember everything. She only remembered bits and pieces and the feeling of immense despair she experienced inside that dream.
The entire world was against her.
No one stood by her side.
She didn’t know anyone and was just like a kite that had lots its string, wandering around without any fixed location.
All that she could remember was the black crystal in her hand and the sight of countless people withering in front of her. Because of her ability, she killed them all instantly.
Kate blinked her eyes.
As her eyes adjusted to the light, her breath slowly calmed down. She was not in that gloomy plains anymore. She’s inside a room, a strange room she didn’t recognize. But at the very least, she knew that there was no danger here.
Turning her eyes to the side, she could see a figure sitting beside her. It took her some time to recognize Kyle who was staring down at her intensely.
“Kyle?” Kate asked, her voice somewhat hoarse.
“Yes, it’s me.” Kyle then took out a glass of water when he heard her voice. “Drink something first. How are you feeling?”
How is she feeling?
Kate frowned as she took the glass of water and sipped. She was definitely not feeling that well, but she was not certain about her current condition right now.
Physically, she should be fine. The reverse healing ability was only pulling those white dots towards her body and this special body of hers could definitely absorb all of them quite well. After experiencing a lot of battles and using her reverse healing abilities a few times, she knew this much at the very least.
But mentally, Kate was not entirely sure.
The scene in City H back then was like a nightmare, haunting her even in her dream. She didn’t know what she was supposed to be feeling in regards to her action back in that city.
Guilty?
She hated those people.
Because of their prejudice, they harmed the reverse healers without caring for the truth.
But at the same time, she also knew that human feared the unknown. They only cared about their own safety and because of that, they would rather hurt other than letting themselves be hurt.
For them, these reverse healers were dangers they had to eliminate before getting themselves hurt.
As a reverse healer herself, she hated their action.
But if she was in their shoes, could she say for certain that she wouldn’t have reacted differently when she found out that others were a reverse healer and had power capable of killing them instantly?
She didn’t know.
