169 Kate <2>

“I’m still young. There’s enough time to find someone… maybe in the future?” Kate was unsure. With the world had changed like this and so many giant mutated animals roaming around, would the people still bother to think about getting married?

Aside from those who wanted to get marriage of convenience, she didn’t really think that there will be anyone who would bother to get married for the time being. Oh, those who had plans might really do get married but the ceremony shouldn’t be that big.

Money had gradually turned worthless while food price skyrocketed.

And what people cared the most was simply what they were about to eat tomorrow and not about relationship.

Not many people still cared about this thing at this period of time.

“Don’t you have anyone you fancy?” Kate’s Mother arched her eyebrows.

“I don’t think so?” Kate looked back at her mother in confusion. She had finished peeling the first potato, so she tiptoed and put the potato on the table. After that, she picked the second potato that she needed to peel.

Kate’s Mother looked at her daughter and seeing the confusion on her face, she could guess that she was saying the truth. Perhaps, Kate didn’t think about this matter because it didn’t matter too much for her.

But there was actually someone who was already looking at her from time to time.

.....

‘Well, I’ll leave the youngsters do their own business, then.’

Kate’s Mother guessed that Kate might not dare to think in that direction. After all, their relationship so far was a bit unique. No other people would be able to replicate this relationship of hers.

The food was cooked quickly. Kate watched her mother made soup and also some crispy meat and felt her mouth watered. She ran out of the room before she started to shamelessly asked for a piece even before it was fully cooked.

Going out, she saw her father had finished cleaning up. He looked at his daughter and smiled faintly. “Come here, Kate.”

“Don’t carry me. I’m not a kid anymore.” Kate looked at her father warily.

Kate’s Father laughed. Seeing a four to five year old kid saying that she was not a kid anymore… even though Kate’s Father knew his daughter’s real age, it didn’t prevent him from laughing out loud.

“I’m serious!” Kate complained.

She didn’t want to be treated as a child anymore, ok? After finally growing up and becoming an adult, she now had a child’s body again, making other people treated her as a child…

Kate knew that people often wanted to be a child again after being an adult.

But in front of her father, she just wanted to be an adult. She didn’t want him to treat her as a child anymore like he used to when she was young.

Knock! Knock!

The door was knocked and General Ryan walked inside. He was stunned to see Kate was there and then looked at Kate’s Father who had turned more respectful.

“General Ryan.”

“I didn’t expect to see you here, Little Kitty.” General Ryan smiled. He then turned to look at Kate’s Father. “Professor, the communication line will be temporarily fixed in order to communicate with the other professors from other cities. Are there any information you would like to ask or send?”

Kate’s Father’s eyes lit up. “I have something that I would like to ask. Ka… Little Kitty, you wait here obediently, ok?”

After that, Kate’s Father had already walked away without hesitation.

This made Kate speechless. She should have expected that her father was still very passionate about this line of work of his that was related to research and so on. There was no way he would be willing to wait even for a second longer for this matter.

Anyway, Kate chose to let him be.

Her father had already spent a long time accompanying her and her mother in the past. It was time for him to start doing things that he actually wanted to do without the need to worry about them so much.

She then turned look at General Ryan and then called out, “Uncle!”

“Hahaha, it’s good you’re still calling me as your uncle.” General Ryan was in good mood and lifted Kate up. “That rascal said that you’re wandering around, so I tried to check a few rooms before I can finally see you.”

“Uncle is looking for me?” Kate had doubt.

“Yes. I would like your help to transport some of the soil from outside the city inside. The other space awakened said that they couldn’t transport the soil because it couldn’t be put inside their space due to the microorganism and others. So, I want you to try.” f𝐫ee𝘄ℯ𝚋no𝐯𝐞l.c𝘰m

Kate was stunned and then looked at the piece of ‘island’ inside her space from the corner of her eyes. No wonder that her space collapsed after she forcefully stuffed those soil into her space when they were rushing to get out of the giant mutated ants’ trap.

The space was supposed to only hold inanimate items, which naturally didn’t include soil. It was because of Kate’s action that the space eventually collapsed. Thankfully, the space eventually formed again and she could even plant things inside.

Uh, wait, she hadn’t used the soil inside.

Kate felt that she had been wasting resources… but she honestly didn’t know how to plant anything aside from throwing the seeds onto the soil.

Besides, she was actually wondering whether time could actually move within her space. After all, from the items she thrown in so far, time seemed to have been frozen within her space.

She didn’t think it would be possible for her to ever start planting.

As for the soil?

Well, she will just leave it be for the time being.

Perhaps it will be useful in the future.

Though, Kate highly doubt it.

“Why not use the earth element awakened?” Kate asked.

“They’re mostly still busy with the construction.” General Ryan’s face was a bit awkward. He had already quarreled with his brother when he asked to borrow some earth element awakened from the other party.
