Chapter 38: Chapter 38: You Actually Think of Her That Way?

Thorne’s face was like a mask of ice, his dark green eyes fixed on Elias Moretti. "Did you come all this way just to spout nonsense?"

Elias Moretti shrugged and chuckled. "I just wanted to see what’s so great about my high-and-mighty younger brother. You’re like a centipede—it takes a lot to bring you down. You always manage to find someone to help you."

Hearing this, Orion’s Adam’s apple bobbed. The unruly look on his face froze, and a complex, unreadable light flickered in his eyes. He mumbled, half in suspicion and half to himself, "Flora... isn’t one of your people..."

His usually carefree and uninhibited expression was now a mixture of confusion and something else, something hidden.

A strange smile appeared on Elias Moretti’s face. The curve of his lips held an indescribable meaning, as if mocking himself or perhaps lamenting. "I wish she were one of my people. With her help, I’d be a hundred times stronger."

The sharp lines of Thorne’s profile were tinged with hostility. Annoyed, he said, "I have no intention of fighting you for the leader’s position. All I can think about right now is killing Evangeline. Take your people and get lost. Stop bothering me."

"Thorne, those words are heartbreaking." Elias Moretti seemed pleased. He shook his head slightly, his tone full of regret. "Her whole heart is devoted to you, and yet this is what you think of her?"

After speaking, Elias Moretti thought to himself, ’That’s probably not sharp enough to truly sting Thorne.’

With that thought, a treacherous light flashed in his eyes. His gaze was like a cold snake, slowly slithering over Thorne’s body. Then, he curled his lip and said, word by word, "A pity. A person like that... won’t be coming back."

The moment Orion heard this, his previously careless expression vanished, replaced by a flash of alarm.

He took a step forward and said coldly, "What do you mean by that?"

Elias Moretti glanced sideways at Orion, a mocking sneer on his lips. He said slowly, "What’s your hurry? You really think you can catch the little maiden’s eye? Right now, her heart and eyes are full of this useless cripple Thorne, who doesn’t even have a Beast Crystal. Why would she ever look at you?"

Hearing this, the aura around Orion suddenly froze.

The six-pointed Star Pattern on his forehead seemed to ignite, flashing with a fiery red light. He enunciated each word clearly, "I’ll ask you again. What did you mean by that? Where did she go?"

Elias Moretti scoffed. "Don’t be such a brute, only knowing how to fight all day."

As he finished speaking, he glanced at the completely emotionless Thorne and said with great interest, "Why don’t you two guess? Since I have Thorne’s Beast Crystal, what would I have to do to completely eliminate this future threat?"

He tugged at the corner of his mouth, a victorious smile on his face.

Thorne seemed to have thought of something. The corners of his mouth turned down, his Adam’s apple bobbed rapidly, and he nearly crushed the medicine pouch in his hand.

A terrible thought flashed through Orion’s mind. He stared intently at Elias Moretti, his pupils shrinking drastically. There was a tremor in his voice. "Thorncliff? You actually tricked a female into going to Thorncliff?!"

Elias Moretti shook his head, a half-smile on his face.

Orion had just begun to breathe a secret sigh of relief, but before he could fully exhale, Elias Moretti spoke again. His tone was casual, even a little innocent. "How can you call that tricking her? I really did throw Thorne’s Beast Crystal off Thorncliff. The little maiden went to look for it willingly. How is that deception?"

"Are you insane?!" Orion roared, his unruly expression completely consumed by fury.

Elias Moretti ignored Orion, turning to look at Thorne instead. A malicious smile played on his lips, and his voice, dripping with sarcasm and schadenfreude, drawled, "Thorne, after experiencing one female who harmed you so deeply, and now missing out on one who gave her all for you... how does that feel?"

"Elias Moretti!" Orion bellowed, his eyes instantly widening as fury blazed within them.

He stomped his foot, and with a WHOOSH, shot forward to attack Elias Moretti.

A cold glint flashed in Elias Moretti’s eyes. His figure blurred and rapidly transformed. With a RIP, he turned into a giant crimson python, reared his head, flicked his tongue at Orion, and then with a flick of his tail, vanished from the cave like a bolt of lightning.

Orion was about to give chase when Thorne’s sharp voice stopped him. "Orion!"

"Flora has saved you time and again! She hasn’t even fully recovered from the injuries caused by the Totem Power, and now she’s gone to that hellhole Thorncliff all by herself! Do you even know what that place is? It’s filled with Fallen Beastmen down there, and they’re vicious! If you’re a real male with any guts, don’t stop me! I’m going to kill Elias Moretti!"

Orion’s expression was tense, his voice icy and filled with disappointment in Thorne.

It was confirmed now. Flora was not one of Elias Moretti’s people!

For Thorne’s sake, she had braved countless dangers, facing hardships again and again without the slightest hesitation. He had never seen such a fierce female. The thought of her meeting a disastrous fate made Orion feel like a fire was burning in his chest.

Even if it wasn’t for that subtle feeling in his heart, he would still avenge her!

Thorne slowly lowered his gaze, staring at the crumpled medicine pouch in his hand. He gently rubbed it with the pad of his finger. A moment later, he took a deep breath. The aura around him instantly turned as cold as frost. He tucked the pouch into his robes and was the first to head outside.

Even though he knew Elias Moretti had told him this with ill intent, it was just as Orion had said. Flora had repeatedly risked her life for him. He couldn’t just stand by and do nothing for a female who was so completely devoted to him.

Orion let out a breath of relief. Just as he was about to tell Thorne to stay here while he went after Elias Moretti himself, he suddenly heard Thorne say, "It’s a ways to Thorncliff. If you hurry, you might be able to make it in time."

"To Thorncliff!"

Meanwhile, Evangeline was also moving quickly.

She darted through the dim, dense forest, her movements nimble but filled with a pressing urgency.

’A Mermaid Tail Scale, a Beast Crystal... The original owner of this body made this mess, and I’m the one who has to clean it up. I have no choice.’

’With the Beast Crystal fallen into Thorncliff, all I can do is pray that the Fallen Beastmen are afraid of Thunder Power and won’t dare to devour it. Otherwise, I’ll really have to find a way for Thorne to reconstruct his Beast Crystal, and that’s an extremely long process.’

Before the sky had brightened, Evangeline arrived at Thorncliff.

Black thorns twisted and interwove, so dense that no air could pass through. There seemed to be even more white bones scattered about than the last time she was here. It was a place of decay, strangeness, and ill omen—a breeding ground for curses.

A chill rose around her. With a flick of her wrist, an Ice Whip appeared in her hand.

This was the first time since coming to the Beastman Continent that she dared not hold anything back, afraid of an unexpected, disastrous failure.

In the world of *All My Sterile Beast Husbands Want to Kill Me*, the Fallen Beastmen were mysterious. They had only ever been mentioned in a few lines of narration and had never left Thorncliff.

However, a moment’s thought made it clear that these beings—abandoned by The Beast God, trapped in a desperate situation, yet wielding immense power—were a group of bona fide desperados, not to be trifled with.

If she ran into them, a fierce battle was inevitable.

Evangeline’s eyes turned cold. Without further hesitation, she lashed out fiercely with the Ice Whip at the thicket of thorns before her!

When the whip struck the thorns, the wildly tangled thicket seemed to shudder as if alive. It let out a sharp, SIZZLING sound, and then the branches quickly twisted and recoiled, spontaneously clearing a path.

Evangeline walked unimpeded to the cliff’s edge. She slowly lowered her gaze and looked down into Thorncliff.

At the bottom of the cliff, a strange black mist, as thick as ink, churned and swirled. It seemed to silently speak of the endless secrets and dangers hidden below, inspiring dread in all who looked upon it.

Without hesitation, she tapped her toes on a large rock at the cliff’s edge and, like an arrow released from a bow, leaped toward the bottom of the cliff.

As she leaped, the energy in her body seemed to pour out. Her limbs felt as if they were filled with lead, her whole body grew several times heavier, and she began to plummet uncontrollably toward the bottom!

Thorncliff was shrouded in a mysterious power, like an unbreakable Imprisonment Spell.

Flight was forbidden in the air here. Whether it was a Skywing or a Beastman capable of soaring through the heavens, anything that entered the airspace above Thorncliff would be violently yanked down by an invisible giant hand, losing its ability to fly.

"The little maiden!"

"Flora!"

As Evangeline was swallowed by the churning black mist, she faintly heard the voices of Thorne and Orion.
