The Villainess Winning Back Her Beast Husbands-Chapter 33: Give Me a Hair
Evangeline hesitated for a moment, and then her expression suddenly shifted.
’Sisters from the tribe??’
How could she have forgotten? Since females were a precious commodity, after the Oasis Tribe was destroyed, its females had all been brought to the Grymdale Tribe. They weren’t allowed to integrate and become members of the Grymdale Tribe, so it was perfectly normal for them to be imprisoned as breeding tools. This was the fate of most females after a war between tribes.
’Why most?’
Because a few females would rather die than submit—like the original owner’s mother, the Witch of the Oasis Tribe.
And the final fate for those females was to perish along with their tribe.
Evangeline calmed herself, carefully recalling the scene of burying bodies in the Oasis Tribe. She tried desperately to remember if she’d seen any of her familiar "sisters" among them, but after ransacking her memory, she still had no clue.
Still, she knew in her heart that few of the original owner’s so-called "sisters" were good people.
After all, the original owner had been a vicious person, cruel in her actions yet considering herself pure and innocent.
’Birds of a feather flock together. What kind of people would hang around with someone like that?’
To put it bluntly, they were just a bunch of fair-weather friends, opportunists who spent all day swarming around the leader’s daughter, flattering and sucking up to her.
People like that are experts at self-preservation. They were most likely taken to the Grymdale Tribe.
"What, nothing to say?" Orion scoffed, tilting his head with a sneer. "So you admit it. Promising to help Thorne find Evangeline was all talk. You can’t actually do it!"
"I haven’t even said a word, and you’ve already jumped to conclusions? Please, do me a favor and shut up for a second. You talk so fast I can’t get a word in edgewise."
Evangeline chuckled and shot back sarcastically.
’This Orion really had a big mouth. So annoying.’
The corner of Orion’s mouth twitched violently. The suave, aloof expression on his face—as if nothing in the world was worthy of his notice—was instantly replaced by an ugly scowl. He looked as if someone had just stomped hard on his tail, full of indignant frustration.
Thorne’s dark green eyes were cold and unfocused. "You have a way?" he asked, his voice harsh.
Evangeline’s attitude toward Thorne was completely different, much gentler.
Her eyes curved into a smile as she offered the golden-roasted Herbivore to Thorne. Her voice was soft and bewitching, with a soothing undertone. "Eat this first. Don’t worry, I can help you find the Beast Crystal right now."
Seeing how differently she treated them, Orion felt a sour knot in his stomach.
Thorne stared at the Herbivore and its tempting aroma, paused for a moment, then reached out for it.
A sudden mischievous impulse struck Evangeline, and she felt a playful urge.
Just as Thorne reached for the Herbivore, Evangeline’s fingers, like a nimble little snake, slid quietly and slowly across his palm with a hint of seduction.
Thorne’s palm curled instinctively. In that instant, his eyes sharpened like a drawn sword, flashing with a cold light.
However, he didn’t shyly withdraw his hand as most would have. Instead, the corner of his mouth slowly curved into a smile that was both meaningful and inscrutable as he looked at Evangeline.
Caught off guard by Thorne’s gaze, which seemed to hold endless depths, Evangeline’s eyelid twitched. A strange feeling suddenly rose in her heart. ’It feels like I’m being targeted by a ferocious wild beast that’s been lying in wait.’
Watching the two of them making eyes at each other, Orion frowned. "What’s your plan for finding Evangeline?" he cut in. "She has a Beast Husband named Danton from the Mer Clan. He can use Water Escape to hide her."
Evangeline shrugged. "I said I’d find the Beast Crystal. Did I say I’d find Evangeline?"
"You!" Orion was even more furious, wishing he could rush over and shut The little maiden’s annoying mouth.
Noticing an almost imperceptible coldness rising in Thorne’s eyes, Evangeline cleared her throat. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"Thorne’s wish is to snap Evangeline’s neck with his own hands, but let me ask you, does he have the strength to do that before he recovers? What if, while in hiding, Evangeline finds a Seven-star Pattern or an Eight-Star Pattern Beast Husband for a backer? You’re looking for her, but for all you know, she might be on her way back right now to get revenge on the Grymdale Tribe."
She spoke with such conviction that it made Orion burst out laughing, his voice dripping with derision.
He shot Evangeline a sidelong glance, a mocking curve on his lips. "What kind of rare treasure do you think Evangeline is?" he sneered. "At the end of the day, she’s just an ordinary One-star patterned female. You think powerful Seven-star or Eight-Star Pattern Beastmen would take a fancy to her for no reason?"
"The higher a Beastman’s Star Pattern Level, the more difficult it is for them to produce offspring."
"Beastmen at that level of power already have strong racial talents. To continue their bloodlines, they would have chosen suitable partners and formed a Contract long ago. What chance would Evangeline have?"
Evangeline’s expression was serene. Her gaze, like a slow-moving stream, swept unhurriedly over Orion.
Then, her gaze shifted to rest steadily on Thorne. "Thorne is a Beastman on the verge of reaching the Six-star Pattern. His strength is nothing to scoff at, right? But didn’t he still suffer a major setback? The Beastman Continent is vast, and strange things happen all the time. What makes you so certain this is impossible?"
Orion’s face flushed red, and he was left completely speechless. Encountering a female with such a sharp tongue and words like daggers left him feeling utterly stifled.
After a long moment, he finally squeezed out a few words through clenched teeth. "Fine. Then tell us, what’s your brilliant method for finding Thorne’s Beast Crystal?"
"Hmm... let me think..." Evangeline’s gaze paused on the tips of Thorne’s snow-white hair.
Then, she offered a perfectly crafted smile. "Why don’t we try a divination?"
"Divination?" Orion stared at Evangeline, shocked. "You know how to perform a divination?"
"I’m a Witch. Is there anything a Witch can’t do?" Evangeline smirked, glancing at the overly shocked Orion.
Divination, prophecy, and foretelling fortunes were all innate abilities of a Witch.
With a flick of her wrist, a tortoise shell appeared in her palm. However, it was still flecked with Sichuan peppercorns and gave off a faint, savory aroma. It looked less like a tool for divination and more like something that had been braised for dinner.
Meeting Orion’s suspicious gaze, Evangeline calmly brushed off the peppercorns. She tapped the shell, listening to the crisp "TAP TAP" with a satisfied expression, then held her hand out to Thorne. "Give me a strand of hair."
Thorne’s gaze locked onto Evangeline, and for a moment, the world around them seemed to fall silent.
After several seconds of silence between them, Thorne raised a hand. His slender fingers threaded through his hair, and with a motion that was both gentle and solemn, he slowly plucked a single strand and held it out to Evangeline.
"Thorne! Are you crazy? You can’t possibly believe her nonsense!" Orion’s eyes widened in disbelief, his shout thick with displeasure, as if Thorne had done something completely absurd.
But Thorne just stared intently at Evangeline, his jaw tight. A storm of emotions roiled in his dark green eyes. "As long as I can get my Beast Crystal back, I’ll believe anything."
