The Villainess Wants a Divorce:Beast Husbands Regret It to Tears-Chapter 63: She Doesn’t Want Any of Them
"Reluctant? How am I reluctant? Don’t we always sleep like this?"
She had an indifferent expression.
"I don’t feel reluctant..."
As soon as these words left her mouth, Wyatt Yardley’s deep, cold snake tail gently swished in the water.
However, he remained silent, his eyes fixed intently on Seraphina Caldwell.
Seraphina didn’t think too much about it; she just glanced at him and then looked away.
She thought it was just that his mating season hadn’t completely passed and that his hormones were acting up.
She was already used to this and didn’t pay it much mind.
Soon, everyone gradually reached the shore. Not far ahead, they saw a dry cave in the indented mountain wall.
Isaac Vaughn took the lead and was the first to step inside.
With a slight flick of his finger, a faint purple energy slowly swirled in the air.
In an instant, the previously filthy and messy cave became clean and bright.
It was still early, so Wyatt Yardley and Isaac Vaughn chose to stay in the cave and keep watch.
Meanwhile, Kaelan Hawthorne, Gideon Larkin, and Evan Orwell exchanged glances, then turned and left to go hunting.
Watching their departing figures, Seraphina furrowed her brow and softly asked Isaac, who was beside her.
"Their injuries haven’t fully healed yet. Is it really safe for them to go hunting today? If they encounter a beast or a trap, wouldn’t it be more dangerous?"
Upon hearing this, Isaac Vaughn’s lips turned up slightly.
"Don’t worry, males have strong recovery abilities, especially Beastfolk. They rested the entire night without further injuries; their wounds have mostly healed, and they’re fully capable of moving around."
Seraphina listened but didn’t quite understand just how formidable males were in The Primal Age.
In her original world, those with serious injuries needed to rest for several days, even months, to recover.
But seeing Isaac so confident, she decided not to ask more and just nodded silently.
After all, her only goal for this trip was to travel swiftly and meet her father as soon as possible.
As long as they didn’t slow her down, she couldn’t be bothered to worry about anything else.
The cave suddenly fell silent, leaving only her, Isaac Vaughn, and Wyatt Yardley curled up in a corner.
Wyatt was coiled at the edge of the rock crevice, his snake body entwined.
His eyes half-closed, occasionally opening slightly to focus on Seraphina.
Seraphina scanned the clean cave and chose a smooth stone to sit on.
Leaning against the cold stone wall, she wrapped her arms around her knees, her mind involuntarily beginning to imagine seeing her father.
When she meets her father, she’s determined to speak openly.
She must tell her father in person that she doesn’t want any of these so-called "Beast Husbands."
Isaac Vaughn then walked slowly towards the cave entrance, raised his hand, and gathered a thread of spiritual power at his fingertips.
In an instant, the nearby hanging vines slowly parted to the sides, half-covering the cave entrance.
After finishing all this, he turned around slowly, his gaze landing on Seraphina.
He then walked step by step towards her.
"Would you like some fruit juice? I just picked some wild fruits and purified them with energy, they’re very clean."
Seraphina looked up upon hearing his voice.
This man, before his mating season, wore a cold face every day.
But who would’ve thought that once the mating season began, he would seem like a completely different person?
She couldn’t help but think to herself: Wyatt Yardley was the same.
It seems that when males enter their mating season, their temperament can change drastically.
But she knew very well that this was all due to hormones, driven by their beastly instinct.
"No, thank you, I’m not thirsty."
In truth, she wasn’t exactly not thirsty, but she feared Isaac exhausting his spiritual power for her.
Every time he used his abilities, his complexion pale a bit, and she didn’t want him to sacrifice anything more for her sake.
Since they were going to sever ties anyway, each going their separate ways, why owe him any favors?
After speaking, she slowly shifted closer to the stone wall.
The three Beast Husbands who went hunting also returned at that moment.
"Wow, we’re in for a treat today!"
Seraphina bounded out of the cave.
She ran over to them in a few steps and reached out to stroke the colorful chicken’s feathers.
"This chicken is so beautiful! Once roasted, it could serve as a decoration."
"So much meat, enough to eat all the way to the Eagle Clan’s village!"
She said with a cheerful smile.
Todays, there’s no need to go hungry, nor to skimp on food. Everyone will be glad that they’ll travel faster in the days to come.
Evan Orwell nodded without saying much, carrying the prey to the riverbank with Gideon Larkin.
They needed to clean the blood, skin the game, and bleed it, which was routine after every hunt.
As for Kaelan Hawthorne, he crouched by the fire, using a dry twig to prod the firewood.
Seraphina glanced around and suddenly noticed the Beast Skin Bag placed on the ground.
She quickly walked over, crouched down, and looked up to ask.
"Kaelan, are there any Earth Potato Fruits left?"
She always felt that eating only meat was lacking something.
"There are three left."
Kaelan pulled out the round Earth Potato Fruits from the bag.
"Do you want to eat one? I can roast one just for you."
Seraphina laughed and waved her hand.
"No need, roast them all. We’ll split them among the four of us, half a piece each, it’s way more fun to eat together."
"Once we find my father, I must go dig up some vegetables. In the days to come, having meat, rice, and greens will truly be a life well-lived."
Thinking of such a life, she couldn’t help but smile, even Kaelan was momentarily stunned.
But as soon as the smile faded, he furrowed his brow.
The smile was too sweet.
He couldn’t forget the past, when she pressed a burning hot stick against his face.
Back then, the pain nearly made him faint, and he could only bite his lip hard.
The gentleness now was just a facade.
He’d seen her true face, heard her vile curses.
How could he believe that the softness in her eyes now was genuine goodwill?
Before long, Evan Orwell and Gideon Larkin returned.
They handed the meat to Kaelan Hawthorne.
"Freshly hunted, still warm."
Kaelan took it, carefully placing the venison, rabbit meat, and pheasant meat on the crackling fire one stick at a time.
The aroma burst forth instantly, wafting up and filling the air.
Unable to resist, Seraphina scooted closer to the fire.
"This meat... why does it smell so good? It’s so much better than what we’ve eaten before!"
Kaelan spoke slowly as he rotated the pheasant skewer.
"Pheasant meat is tender, with a slight sweetness. You can’t rush the cooking; it needs to be roasted slowly to bring out the juices. Venison is leaner and requires slow roasting to taste good, or else it’s like chewing on bark. As for the rabbit meat, I marinated it in honey beforehand, applied evenly, so it ends up crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, flavorful and not greasy."
Seraphina suddenly remembered something and looked up, speaking.
"I initially thought of asking you to cook a few more meals before giving you a blood drop. But seeing how meticulous you’ve been with cooking these days, paying attention to every detail, I’ll give you a blood drop after this meal."
Tomorrow, we must enter the Eagle Clan’s territory, the situation is uncertain, and danger is everywhere.
Kaelan had only received one blood drop so far, far from breaking the contract completely.
She was in a good mood today, so she decided to reciprocate the goodwill, hoping it would calm him down.
As soon as she said this, Kaelan’s hand paused in flipping the skewers.
The perfunctory smile on his face instantly faded, replaced by genuine surprise.
"Really?"
Seraphina caught sight of the long scar from his brow to his cheek.
She sighed softly in her heart, unsure if this scar was also something she’d inflicted upon him in the past.
