Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Instinctive Heartthrob

"Raw eating?"

Wyatt Yardley was taken aback.

"Otherwise? Is there another way to eat it?"

To him, fruit is eaten once picked, peel it and it’s ready to bite into.

Eating raw is the norm, and a fire pit is merely for warmth or scaring off beasts.

She sighed softly.

"Bury the fruit in hot ash, wait a bit until it softens, the skin gets charred, then dig it out. That’s the aroma! A hundred times better than eating it raw!"

Wyatt nodded silently after hearing this.

A moment later, he turned to Kaelan Hawthorne.

"You roast it; cooking isn’t my forte."

Kaelan’s eyes widened.

"You... you want me to roast it?"

He pointed at himself, his voice trembling slightly.

"But... I’ve never done it before either!"

He lowered his head, a faint cold smile appearing on his lips.

Everyone knows Wyatt is a master at catching prey and cooking, right?

He can’t be unable to cook, he’s clearly afraid that if he makes five more meals, Seraphina Caldwell will use blood to break their contract!

Wyatt didn’t really want to break the contract; he had long been accustomed to Seraphina’s presence.

But he knew, Seraphina was eager for him to be freed from this unnecessary bondage.

Since she’s keen to part ways, he naturally had no reason to refuse this opportunity to "go separate ways."

Kaelan didn’t expose Wyatt’s little mind game, just replied with a grin.

"Alright, leave it to me."

He crouched by the fire, carefully using his fingers to open the scorching ashes, revealing the glowing embers beneath.

He wrapped each cleaned sweet potato fruit carefully in ash dirt, then buried them gently into the depths of the ash heap.

At this moment, Isaac Vaughn carried a pot of clear water back slowly from the riverbank.

Seraphina was absorbed in watching Kaelan roast the sweet potatoes, focused intently, without noticing someone stealthily approaching.

She turned around, and bumped squarely into a chest.

A sniff at the nose, is the faint scent of ocean breeze.

She looked up, her gaze meeting Isaac’s pale purple eyes.

"Be careful."

Isaac helped steady her.

Seraphina’s heart gave a little jolt, she retreated half a step quickly, her cheeks suddenly flushing red.

She clumsily took the clay pot from his hands.

"Th-thank you."

Every time she got too close to him, her heart would race, that face is too unfair, and yet he’s the villain.

She clearly should be cautious, on guard, but upon seeing him, only instinctual yearning remained.

Isaac caught her brief stiffness, and his lips curved slightly.

This female, can lose composure so easily?

He suddenly discovered something interesting, as long as he got a little closer, she’d blush?

This reaction was unexpectedly amusing.

He casually broke a tender branch and handed it to her; this is the Beast Realm’s most common "toothbrush."

"How many bristly branches are left?"

"Only three left."

Isaac answered.

"I’ll check Veridia. Maybe there are wild ones deep in Northvale."

Seraphina was surprised, not expecting the stock to be so meager.

She frowned, shook her head.

"Forget it, don’t find them, let’s hit the road."

She didn’t want to delay the journey for such trivial matters; after all, unknown dangers awaited them ahead.

Wait!

Last time she casually stuck an old bristly branch into a clay pot, after a while, it sprouted a tender bud?

Does that mean the branch not only keeps well but can even be planted directly?

She tossed the branch into the space within the clay pot, dripped a few drops of Spiritual Spring Water in.

Whether it can survive, she didn’t know.

She had never heard of anyone reviving and regenerating used toothbrush branches.

But in this world, miracles often lie in the unnoticed. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

If it survives, she could have endless toothbrushes.

If successful, she could even grow them en masse, turning them into portable travel toothbrushes; who knows, other daily products might also follow such a model.

Thinking of this, her lips unconsciously curled upward.

Beside her, Isaac focused on her lips.

He had been staring at the ground.

Yet in the instant she smiled, his gaze involuntarily lifted, precisely landing on her face.

He was accustomed to suppressing emotions, but at this moment, that long-lost warmth crept into his chest.

Just as Seraphina finished cleaning up, Kaelan pulled the roasted sweet potatoes from the ash pile.

The surface was roasted to a crispy golden yellow, fine cracks appeared on the surface, steaming straight upward.

Seraphina reached to pull one apart; as soon as she touched it, she recoiled her hand sharply, saying "Sss" from the heat.

The sweet potato was about to fall to the ground... just as it was about to hit the dirt, a large hand swiftly scooped it up.

It is Wyatt.

The earth potato fruit settled calmly in his palm, only a small piece of charred skin scraped off, the rest intact.

"Want to eat separately?"

Seraphina nodded.

Wyatt lightly pulled, and the earth potato fruit snapped in half.

The familiar aroma forcefully invaded her nasal passages.

Her eyes lit up instantly, she accepted half, and took a bite.

"Come taste! It’s super good!"

Her cheeks puffed slightly, chewing while waving to invite the others.

The beast husbands froze in place, no one moved.

They stared at the half-earth potato fruit in her hand, expressions complex.

For them, this kind of food had never appeared in their daily diet.

Wyatt took a bite himself.

The flavor hit him deep inside, he was taken aback for a moment, then couldn’t help but smile.

So this thing could be eaten like this?

He moved, the others too returned to their senses, swarming over, picking up the roasted golden earth potato fruit.

Gideon Larkin took a bite, chewed twice, his eyes widened.

"What? This thing... why does it taste a bit like meat?"

His chewing slowed suddenly, his gaze filled with disbelief.

Clearly a plant fruit, yet after high-temperature roasting, certain components seemed to have undergone a marvelous transformation.

Kaelan tasted a bite, his eyes flared.

Isaac chewed slowly, but his gaze didn’t leave Seraphina’s face.

His attention mostly fell on her face.

She was eating with a bit of syrup on the corner of her mouth, smiling widely while talking to Kaelan.

Wyatt squatted next to them, clutching a Yellow Flame Fruit, stone held high, ready to smash.

The fruit shell is hard as iron, smash it too hard and the juice would splash everywhere.

Inside, the fruit is full of juicy flesh, touch it and it flows, a slight misstep and most of it would be wasted.

He was just pressing the stone on, preparing to push down.

His arm hadn’t fully descended; the motion froze in midair.

Beside him, Isaac’s hand slightly lifted.

In the next moment, the Yellow Flame Fruit in Wyatt’s hand unexpectedly detached from his palm, slowly floating up.

Along with the few other Yellow Flame Fruits that were quietly lying in the bamboo basket, each began to rise from the ground.

Isaac’s fingertips twitched, the crystal-clear orange juice cascaded into the clay pot below, already prepared.

In the blink of an eye, the floating fruits shriveled and dropped down one by one.

But the juice inside had been completely extracted.

"Using brute force only ruins good things."

Isaac’s tone was indifferent.

Yet at the moment he spoke, he sneaked a glance at Seraphina.

Seraphina stared dumbly at the shriveled fruits in midair.

"Isaac, that’s amazing! I’ve never seen anyone squeeze fruit this clean, without a bit of residue left!"

As soon as these words fell, Isaac’s lips curved gently.

"If you like it, I’ll press for you from now on."

The words barely left his mouth when more Yellow Flame Fruits softly leapt out of the bamboo basket.
