The Villainess Wants a Divorce:Beast Husbands Regret It to Tears-Chapter 175: She Doesn’t Want Anyone Now
Kaelan Hawthorne let out a muffled groan.
Rain mixed with blood spread across his chest.
His clothes clung stickily to his skin, the cold seeping into his flesh.
The cuffs were torn, and bruises had already appeared on the exposed arm.
But he still didn’t resist, just shrunk into the corner.
Letting the punches fall on him one after another.
He knew that this pain couldn’t compare to the grievance and fear in Seraphina Caldwell’s heart at that time.
It wasn’t until Kaelan was covered in injuries, his breathing ragged, that Wyatt Yardley finally let go.
"Because of what you’ve done, now Seraphina is wary of all of us. She’s thinking of ways to break the contract, not just with you, but with all of us. She had begun to slowly accept it, but because of you, she’s shut herself off again, trusting no one."
He bent down, grabbing Kaelan’s hair, forcing his face up.
"I know you hate her. If you truly don’t want to continue the contract, you could’ve just asked to separate. But why did you choose to strike when she was at her most vulnerable? She’s endured so much suffering without a word of complaint to anyone. Do you know why? Because now she trusts no one!"
Kaelan Hawthorne struggled to lift himself off the ground, his arm trembling.
He wiped the blood trickling down his face with a hand, his pale green eyes bloodshot.
"I’ve changed my mind. I won’t break the contract, I won’t sever the connection."
Wyatt suddenly kicked him in the chest.
Then he stepped forward, stomping on Kaelan’s back, pressing down hard enough that he groaned and spat out a mouthful of blood.
"Regret only comes now? The harm is already done, now you’re acting like you’ve found your conscience?"
Kaelan lay on the ground.
But he neither cried out nor moved, just gritted his teeth, letting the foot press down on him.
He blinked, his vision blurred, yet he never looked up.
Even if Wyatt truly wanted him dead here, he accepted it.
Wyatt looked down at this silent male, the anger in his heart gradually subsiding.
Anger wouldn’t solve any problems.
There were countless dangerous roads ahead.
Time was pressing, and he couldn’t afford to waste energy on such pointless confrontations.
He never intended to kill anyone.
After all, he needed this person to guide him to the Fox Clan’s territory.
Killing Kaelan wouldn’t bring any benefits, it would only make the journey ahead even more difficult.
Wyatt knew very well what his task was now, and who the real enemy was.
After a moment of silence, he slowly lifted his foot and stepped away from Kaelan’s back.
He retracted his foot, stood up straight, and looked coldly at the person sprawled on the ground.
"She doesn’t want anyone now, plans to break the contract with us. If you want to make amends, you’ll have to find a way yourself. I’m about to reach my limit too."
With those words, he didn’t glance back, turned around, and pushed open the door into the stone house.
The wooden door creaked shut, the bolt dropping down with a dull thud.
The temperature inside was slightly higher than outside, the humid air mixed with the smell of burnt charcoal.
The wind was shut out, the sound of raindrops hitting the roof became distant and monotonous.
Seraphina sat at the edge of the bed, staring blankly at the ground.
Wyatt placed the meat he was holding on the table, his tone softening a bit.
"Eat something; we have to travel again tomorrow."
Seraphina looked up at him, saw the water dripping from his hair, and without asking what happened, quietly picked up a piece of meat, chewing slowly.
After eating, she leaned against the corner of the bed, gazing at the continuous rain outside, her mind in turmoil.
The heat that Evan Orwell had suppressed with his spiritual power during the day welled up again.
Her body temperature was rising, her skin starting to redden.
She clutched the Beast Skin blanket tightly, afraid to call Evan.
The blanket was already soaked with sweat, sticking uncomfortably to her back.
She had to learn to endure it herself.
Her father managed back then, so she must too.
Time seemed to stretch on, every second like a form of torture.
In the dim light, a figure quietly entered, lay down on the bed, and wrapped her in its arms.
The familiar scent, mixed with a hint of coolness, enveloped her.
Seraphina’s body stiffened, lifting her head to meet Wyatt’s dark red eyes.
Those eyes, which were typically sharp and intimidating, held no hostility at this moment.
"I have a low body temperature; holding you will help cool you down."
Wyatt’s voice was somewhat hoarse.
Seraphina snapped back to her senses, raising her hand to push his chest, only to have her wrist caught by him.
She tried to break free, but after two attempts failed.
The heat within her body kept rising, becoming more intense with each wave.
Her heart was filled with grievance and anxiety, her voice trembling.
"Wyatt, don’t come so close..."
She was in her estrus period, her mind not quite clear, fearing she might lose control and form a symbiotic contract with him.
The scene of the contract repeatedly surfaced in her mind.
She couldn’t imagine such a result.
Once signed, there would be no turning back.
Wyatt didn’t let go, but relaxed his grip slightly.
Allowing her to rest against his chest without feeling oppressed.
"Don’t be afraid."
After a pause, he lifted his hand, patting her back with his fingertips.
The pads of his fingers moved slowly over her clothing. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"It’s just a hug for a while. Just like how you comfort males usually, just leaning against them can make you feel a bit better."
At those words, Seraphina’s tense body seemed to finally find a point of support, gradually relaxing.
Her shoulders sunk bit by bit, her arms no longer raised stiffly.
The taut nerves slowly eased, even her breathing grew longer and softer.
The hand that was braced against his chest relaxed slightly.
Though she didn’t push against him anymore, neither did she actively embrace him.
The cool scent from him seeped into her skin, flowing along her blood into her bones.
She couldn’t help but rest her head against his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat.
It never felt enough, so she snuggled in closer.
When her cheek touched down, she heard a solid thump.
Wyatt’s throat moved, his whole arm stiffening instantly.
The girl in his arms was unbelievably soft.
Her body was feverishly hot, like a softly burning flame when pressed against him.
Yet her breathing was light and gentle.
But he knew now wasn’t the time for any other actions, he could only take a deep breath, forcibly suppressing his restless feelings.
"Why didn’t you tell me about the trouble with Kaelan?"
Seraphina flinched violently.
She had never told anyone about her affairs with Kaelan.
How did he know?
Seraphina lowered her head, her fingertips absently pinching her clothes’ hem.
Now that she had decided to break off the old contract, she didn’t plan to bring up those unpleasant memories anymore.
Even though Wyatt was far more reliable than Kaelan.
But in her memory, he was still the antagonist in the book who personally gouged out the Beast Seal.
Even if he stood before her now, his eyes gentle.
She couldn’t instantly erase the shadow that the outcome had left on her.
Unless she was two hundred percent sure he would never betray her, she wouldn’t easily trust anyone again.
After all, she’d been hurt by Kaelan once.
Safety could only be in her own hands.
"It’s all in the past, I don’t care about it anymore, so I didn’t mention it."
"Since that time, I’ve come to realize, there are things one must bear on their own, can’t always rely on others."
Wyatt’s heart felt pierced by countless fine needles.
He knew she was enduring, hiding.
