The Villainess Wants a Divorce:Beast Husbands Regret It to Tears-Chapter 172: Taking the Initiative to Embrace Him
Compared to such a person, even though those Beast Husband destined to become dark have complex and unpredictable personalities.
At least for now, they are still holding their ground, not crossing the boundary.
Albert Wyndham stared at Seraphina Caldwell’s slightly flushed but resolute face and was momentarily stunned.
Then he chuckled softly, said nothing more, and turned to leave.
Only then did Seraphina Caldwell slightly let out a breath.
But just thinking about the gaze Albert Wyndham fixed on her earlier sent a chill up her spine.
That gaze was too eerie.
It was like staring at a rabbit close to his mouth, ready to pounce the moment she lets down her guard.
Where did Wyatt Yardley and Isaac Vaughn run off to?
She almost thought Albert Wyndham would disregard everything and snatch her away like Jett did.
At that moment, she was nearly prepared to struggle.
But she held back.
Because she knew that once she moved, the situation might completely spiral out of control.
Seraphina Caldwell shrank back slightly, her back against the cold stone wall.
She slowly crouched down, wrapping her arms around her knees.
Though the Beast Skin bed was soft, she didn’t feel comfortable at all.
Her mind was filled with Albert Wyndham’s unsettling eyes.
Evan Orwell stood by the curtains, motionless.
He knew Seraphina Caldwell was genuinely scared.
That fear wasn’t feigned, nor was it caused by emotional fluctuations from the estrus cycle.
It stemmed from a real awareness of potential violence. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Kaelan Hawthorne was frowning too, his grey-green eyes filled with regret.
Earlier, fearing Albert Wyndham’s Blue Rank status, he didn’t dare to intervene immediately and stop him, resulting in Seraphina Caldwell being frightened.
This made him feel particularly bad.
Only Gideon Larkin didn’t understand those convolutions.
Seeing Seraphina Caldwell curled up like that, it felt as if something had fiercely gripped his chest.
He didn’t understand why others would lay a hand on Seraphina Caldwell, nor did he get why they used that tone to threaten her.
He walked over in a few steps, sitting cautiously at the edge of the Beast Skin bed.
As soon as he touched the edge, he held his breath, carefully observing her reaction.
Seeing that she didn’t shy away, he slowly moved a bit closer.
"Seraphina Caldwell, don’t be afraid. If that guy dares to bother you again, I’ll drive him out even if I have to risk my life."
As he spoke, his fist secretly clenched.
Seraphina Caldwell suddenly raised her head, meeting Gideon Larkin’s icy blue eyes.
She had never seen such a candid gaze.
The heat hadn’t completely subsided yet, her chest felt stuffy.
Sweat was still faintly visible at her temple, the clothes on her back sticking to her skin.
But she ignored these, her mind a chaotic mess.
"What’s wrong? Are you uncomfortable again?"
Gideon Larkin saw her eyes slightly reddened, stood up in a rush, then turned his head to call out.
"Evan Orwell! Come here! Seraphina Caldwell seems to be in discomfort again!"
"I’m fine."
Seraphina Caldwell suddenly spoke, her voice a bit hoarse.
Before Gideon Larkin could react, she reached out her hand, wrapped it around his waist, and rested her face against his chest.
Gideon Larkin instantly froze, his heart skipping a beat.
This was the first time Seraphina Caldwell had proactively embraced him.
Her soft arm encircled him, her warm breath touched his chest.
This intimacy left him at a loss, yet he was reluctant to move away.
He dared not move his arm, for fear of scaring her away, and could only lower his head slightly.
This reliance, though brief, was truly present.
She clearly remembered the plot in the book.
They would eventually betray, eventually turn against her.
But now...she was really too tired.
In this strange World of Beastfolk, she was all alone, seeking her father was just a vague direction.
There were no marks on the map, clues were fragmented.
Perhaps one day, Gideon Larkin would, like the stories described, suddenly turn and harm her.
But at this moment, Seraphina Caldwell was too exhausted, just wanting to rely on this sincere heart to quietly catch her breath.
The little girl in his arms gradually fell silent, leaving only the sound of gentle breathing.
Gideon Larkin slightly lowered his head and found Seraphina Caldwell had already fallen asleep.
Her head rested in the hollow of his shoulder, her hair brushed against his neck, bringing a slight tickling feeling.
Gideon Larkin could feel the warmth radiating from her body.
He raised his hand, intending to brush away the stray bangs on her forehead, but hesitated, retracting it.
Afraid any movement might wake her.
When Seraphina Caldwell opened her eyes again, it was already dark outside.
The glow from the fire was dim.
She blinked and only then realized she was still nestled in Gideon Larkin’s arms.
His arm was tightly wrapped around her waist, his whole body stiff.
She gently shifted her body, causing Gideon Larkin’s muscles to twitch immediately, yet he didn’t let go, only mumbling a sound, his voice raspy.
Seraphina Caldwell instantly became clear-headed, hurriedly drew back a bit.
Gideon Larkin’s expression didn’t change much, his brows remained calm.
But she could see the thin layer of sweat on his forehead.
"You...didn’t move at all?"
Her voice trembled slightly, tinged with disbelief.
When the wind blew, ashes drifted and settled on his shoulder, yet he hadn’t brushed them away.
Time seemed to halt on him, only his physical reactions betrayed the ordeal he endured.
Gideon Larkin finally slowly moved his arm.
He frowned a bit, but quickly suppressed the discomfort, trying to appear relaxed.
Yet his face remained indifferent, revealing a grin, displaying tiger teeth.
"It’s alright, I’m strong, what’s the big deal in enduring a while."
As he finished speaking, he deliberately raised his arms a bit.
Seraphina Caldwell looked at his struggling look, annoyed yet feeling warm.
"Why not change positions? Or simply let me lie down and sleep? You are suffering like this."
Gideon Larkin’s ears quietly flushed red, scratching his head, his gaze flickering.
Yet his mouth remained honest, saying, "Moving might wake you up, you were sleeping so soundly... As for placing you on the ground, I don’t want to."
"When I hold you, you calm down too."
He just wanted to hold her a bit longer.
Even if his body was stiff, his heart felt secure.
As he spoke, Seraphina Caldwell’s face flushed instantly.
Gideon Larkin was always like this, straightforwardly striking her heart.
Suddenly, Gideon Larkin moved closer.
"Seraphina, " he said softly, "I’ve been accompanying you to sleep so earnestly, enduring so much, shouldn’t I get some reward?"
His tone softened considerably, no longer the usual boisterous demeanor.
Seraphina Caldwell paused for a moment, turned her head to look at him.
"Reward? What do you want? Jerky? Blanket? Or a newly-made leather bag?"
While asking, she unconsciously pinched the corner of the blanket.
"Not those."
Gideon Larkin interrupted her, moved a little closer.
The Beast Skin bed lightly shook, sparks danced in the stove, making the shadows of the two lean close.
"I just want to kiss you, just once. Can you agree?"
As he finished speaking, his Adam’s apple gently rolled.
Seraphina Caldwell’s heart rate suddenly lost rhythm.
She lightly bit her lip and nodded.
"Alright."
Upon hearing her agree, Gideon Larkin’s eyes lit up, cautiously extended his hand, slowly approached.
That kiss was gentle, with a hint of awkwardness.
The air suddenly quieted.
But Seraphina Caldwell didn’t shy away, instead, leaning a bit forward.
This small closeness warmed Gideon Larkin’s heart, his breath paused for a moment.
Gideon Larkin’s heart sharply pulsated, courage followed suit, approaching once more.
This time it lasted longer, carrying an indescribable sweetness, causing her mind to dizzy again.
Their breaths intertwined, heat gradually spreading to the roots of their ears.
