The Villainess Married The Evil CEO-Chapter 89: The Rules
Of course, it wasn’t easy for Nicholas to agree to this absurd demand. But what else could he do in the face of an invisible enemy, ready to stab him on his wife’s back any minute?
Sure, he still wasn’t sure if the villain was merely targeting Abigail or if there were more people behind this serial killing event. Nicholas knew he couldn’t rule out that possibility even if he wasn’t entirely sure and making his wife the girlfriend of another was his only option.
Damn it, he had never felt so helpless before!
He had thought he was powerful, but little did he realize he couldn’t even protect the one he cared about. Was he even a man?
Seeing his expression turning worse and worse, Asher felt refreshed in his heart. Yup, that’s the plan he had decided on earlier. Now that it was out in the open, it was too funny to see his cousin’s face all black and blue.
This man was clearly jealous, but he dared not to voice his words because this plan was the best for the current situation.
Thus, he sat and typed on the laptop.
"The rules." Then he turned to face Nicholas and smiled, "So, you can write anything you want. I’m open to all the rules."
Of course, he would make sure to treat Abigail better than ever even if it meant only in the eyes of the public. He would show her that having him as a husband was way better than Nicholas.
But those words and that smug smile on his face poked the hidden bitterness in Nicholas’s heart, making him angrier.
He dared to show even a trace of smugness!
He silently took the laptop and started typing with his cold face, staring at the screen with full focus. His fingers flew on the keyboard. Within five minutes, he was done typing as he handed the laptop back to Asher.
"I’m not compromising on a single thing."
Asher turned toward the laptop and read the points out loud one after another.
"No holding hands even in public.
"No kissing, hugging, or even sweet talking even behind the cameras.
"No calling one another loving names or even glancing at one another for longer than five seconds.
No spending time with one another for more than five minutes beneath a single roof.
"No sex (that should be obvious)
"And finally, keep me (Nicholas Harrison) around always whenever in public."
Asher merely raised his brows upon seeing this. He looked at his cousin in a mocking manner as if teasing the man for his brazenness. It was crystal clear that Nicholas was jealous as heck, and yet, he wasn’t uttering a single word.
It was Abigail who spoke first. "No way! Husband, how can you act so childish?! Will the plan even work with your terms and conditions?!"
"It will," Nicholas lied. He knew this plan would never work, but who cares? The public would believe anything if the snaps were taken from certain directions. Even if they’re not really kissing, if the angle was right, people would believe just about anything.
So Nicholas wasn’t very worried about it.
"But...." Abigail pouted and said, "Don’t you trust me even a single bit?"
"No."
"...."
Abigail took a deep breath and said, "Nicholas, don’t you think you’re demeaning me?"
"Yes." But Nicholas didn’t care.
"Ahem," Asher interrupted and said, "you can continue your lover’s spat later. Can I add something?" He smirked and said, "I agree with all the terms but one."
"What?" Nicholas frowned, feeling strange that this person agreed so easily.
"I have to hold her hand if we want the reports to believe my story, oh, and increase the time because we wouldn’t know the situation. What if we’re stuck among reporters for longer than 5 minutes?"
"No."
"Yes."
Nicholas and Abigail spoke at the same time. After that, they both glared at one.
"We aren’t doing that."
"We are!" Abigail let out her ’crocodile tears’ and sniffed dramatically, saying, "Nicholas, I thought our relationship was going quite well, but it turns out, you still don’t care about my life and death anymore."
Nicholas’s eyes squinted. "How can I be sure if you’re genuinely feeling this or not?"
Abigail gasped and said, "How can you say that?! You know I’m serious about you!"
"Yeah, by hugging him behind my back."
"You’re still mad about it?!" Abigail crossed her arms on her chest. "So what if I hugged him?! He’s my brother-in-law."
"Alright." Nicholas’s eyes were cold as ice as he said, "Next time, if I end up hugging some cousin or friend of yours, don’t blame me because these are your own words."
"You can’t!" Abigail got even angrier after hearing those words.
"I can."
"...." Asher felt like he couldn’t even interfere anymore.
He took a deep breath and stood up. His heart was heavy as a stone dipped in water. He was about to stand up and give them some space despite the traces of bitterness he was feeling in his heart.
It almost felt like his heart was being pulled out of his chest and torn into pieces. He almost felt like he couldn’t breathe.
Even Asher didn’t know why and when his emotions took such a drastic turn. Didn’t he merely like that woman? What’s up with these intense emotions bursting out from his heart?
Asher shook his head and was about to get up when he heard Nicholas saying, "Alright."
His hands froze for a second as he glanced at the man standing a little away. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Okay. We can alter the timing and the hand holding thing." Nicholas rubbed the bridge of his nose as if extremely tired of the argument he had been having for the past few minutes. "Other than that, I’m not compromising on anything. Even if you’re going on a public date, you guys should let me know first. No, better yet, I’ll plan that entire thing myself."
"No way." Abigail didn’t care about what they were arguing about, but she would never let her husband win a single argument! That was her motto in life as a happily married wife! "Get it under your skin, dear husband. I’m never bowing in front of you!"
"This isn’t about bowing." Nicholas stood up and said, "This is my final decision. I’m resting in my room."
After saying those words, he walked outside the room with his luggage and chose an adjacent room, entering it. Then he shut the door with a loud thud.
