Chapter 85: Thank You!

Early in the morning, before Abigail could get up alone, her door was knocked fiercely as if the person standing on the other side were anxious. She frowned and opened her eyes, looking about in utter confusion.

Then she let out a sigh of relief.

Thankfully, she was still sane.

Thus, she pushed herself off the bed and walked out. The knocking continued and even became fierce as she walked there.

"Alright, I’m opening," she mumbled as she opened the door.

Soon enough, an anxious-looking Rosa entered the door as she said, "Abigail, are you alright?!"

Abigail tilted her head in confusion. What’s wrong with her again?

She swore she sometimes felt her mother-in-law was the sick one here and not her.

"What happened?"

When Rosa saw that her daughter-in-law hadn’t seen the news, her eyes moistened as she wiped the corner of her eyes and said, "Why don’t you sit on the bed first?"

Abigail instantly felt that the news wouldn’t be any good. Her mind drifted off to the event last night in the bar.

Could it be...?

"You remember the man who bumped into us and caused that burn on your stomach?" Rosa’s voice trembled a little as she thought of the news she saw on her phone. "That man... That man’s dead body was found today."

The color from Abigail’s face drained as she looked at her mother-in-law. Even though she knew this was going to happen, she was still stunned. But since she had expected this to happen, she controlled her emotions rightly and said, "Mom... You might be wrong."

"True," said Rosa as she took a deep breath, "but I remember that person having a rose tattoo on his neck and even his clothes were the same. It’s him."

"Oh..." Abigail took a few deep breaths to contain her emotions well and said, "Mom, let’s talk to Nicholas first."

Before they could call him, the man walked inside the room with his laptop in one hand. His expression was serious as he glanced at his mom and showed her his laptop screen.

"Was this the man from last night?"

Rosa instantly burst out crying and nodded.

Nicholas’s expression turned cold after hearing that. He put his laptop on the table and looked at Abigail. "Prepare."

The latter also nodded, knowing she was about to be sent away. Even though her heart felt a little sad upon leaving, she had no choice but to endure. But how long could she remain sane and continue suppressing her emotions like this?

She didn’t know, but she could surely feel her mania returning.

She swallowed and got off the bed.

There was no time to ponder over her emotions. She could feel them all she wanted after boarding her plane. But for now, she had to hurry.

Of course, she was hesitant. How could she not be when this was the place she called home ever since she arrived here?

Still, she pushed down her bubbling emotions to the depths of her heart and went to the washroom. Before she could enter, Rosa grabbed her wrist and asked, "Where... Where are you going?"

"Mom." Nicholas walked over and said, "Let her get ready. I’ll tell you everything."

Rosa could understand something, but she didn’t say a single word and nodded, letting Abigail get ready.

"Mom, I’m sending her away for a few days." Nicholas started, and before she could speak a single word, he continued, "Don’t ask where. I’m keeping it a secret for her safety. I hope you understand."

Of course, Rosa understood. How could she not? She wiped her face and said, "Okay, I trust you. Find that damned murderer and get him behind the bars!"

Nicholas also nodded with a serious expression on her face.

A few hours later, Abigail had already boarded the plane. She looked outside the window with a sad expression on her face. Finally, when she was left alone, the emotions she had been holding burst from her heart, making her chest heavy.

No...

Don’t cry.

Don’t fall into a depression phase.

You can’t!

Just then, she remembered she still had the doctor’s number. Yes! The doctor!

She instantly wiped her face and pulled out her cell phone with trembling hands. She called Owen.

A moment later, he picked up and said, "Abigail."

"Doctor..." Abigail cried as she hiccupped and tried speaking clearly, "I don’t know what to do."

Owen, who had been receiving a patient, paused as he looked at the middle-aged woman sitting across from him and gave her an apologetic smile, covering his phone with his hand. He asked the middle-aged woman, "Can you give me a minute?"

The woman nodded and stood up, walking outside the room.

Owen first let the woman on call cry for a while as he frowned. The last time he gave this woman the medicine, he aimed to see her mental condition, but he hadn’t expected her to call him just a few days later, crying at that.

Could it really be what he thought it was?

Whatever the case, he would treat her as a patient first rather than someone who had been chasing him a year ago.

After Abigail was done crying, she finally said, "Doctor...."

"Call me Owen." He didn’t like it when his patients would treat him as someone special.

If he wanted his patients to be free with him during the sessions, he would have to make them comfortable. First and foremost, he would have to smoothen their relationships by removing the profession.

"Okay." Abigail took a deep breath and said, "Owen... I don’t want to go."

"Go where?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

"To another country."

"Hmm..." Even though Owen didn’t know the specifics, he could tell that this young woman wasn’t in the least bit happy about it, but it was necessary at the same time. Nicholas must have sent her away for some reason.

He leaned against his seat and said, "Don’t you think you’re going there for some purpose? What if something goes wrong if you stay behind?"

Something goes wrong?

Abigail was stunned after hearing those words.

Indeed, that killer was still there. What if the killer really was killing because of her? Then her husband’s and mother-in-law’s lives would be in danger!

Abigail quickly wiped her face, took a deep breath, and said, "Doctor... Uh, I mean, Owen, thanks a lot! You’re really a God!"

Her mood transformed from being depressed to excited way too fast. It could be said that her depressive phase lasted only for a few minutes before her mania returned.

In excitement, she said, "You’re really the best psychiatrist! I’ll ask Nicholas to give you a raise for sure!"

Owen smiled and replied professionally, "Thank you, but no need. As for your medicines. I’ll send you a prescription. As soon as you land at your destination, go ahead and purchase it."

He changed the topic so fast that Abigail blinked and cheered upon getting another medicine. She let out a shocked and cheerful squeal and said, "Oh, my God! Another medicine?! What will it do?!"

Owen’s eyes narrowed. He guessed her condition in his heart but needed to spend more time with his patient to confirm it. He would only hand over a mood stabilizer with little to no power for now. Even a kid can consume it if needed.

"It’s a mood stabilizer, and take one everyday before sleeping. And—"

The announcement echoed from the background: "Dear passengers, please tighten your seatbelts. We are taking off in a few minutes. We request you to turn off your cell phones, please."

"Alright, thank you, doctor! I mean, Owen!" Then she hung up the call before even hearing what he would say.
