The Villainess is Tired of Everything-Chapter 50
Chapter 50
Given that the toy store catered to high-ranking nobles, it boasted lavish items like dolls adorned with real jewels and intricately crafted mini carriages that could rival actual ones.
A teddy bear dressed in fine silk and stuffed to a plump, adorable roundness even tempted me.
I never imagined that the second time in my life I’d engage in such a grand spending spree would be at a toy store, the first being for Darcy.
Initially, I felt relaxed, but I quickly realized that clearing out the entire toy store would take a significant amount of time.
That meant enduring the curious and envious gazes of others for just as long.
As I sipped the tea that one of the staff members had brought me, I contemplated.
‘…But how am I going to transport all of this?’
The chamomile tea helped calm my nerves, but I was now facing a crucial problem.
Storing the toys in the mansion’s warehouse was one thing, but transporting them to the magician’s village discreetly by carriage would be nearly impossible.
However, the solution came to me easily.
‘Darcy will help.’
Just because we were together didn’t mean I couldn’t use his abilities.
With Darcy’s assistance, I could also later take credit for this with the magicians.
I decided to make full use of Darcy’s powers.
He might even become a mentor to the magicians I planned to make contracts with.
Darcy’s guilt wasn’t unfounded.
But just as the magicians fought Darcy to survive, Darcy’s battles were also a fight for survival.
The shop was soon emptied, as if a hurricane had swept through. I stepped outside, satisfied.
As I exited the store, I noticed even more eyes on me than before.
There were many people whispering, their faces full of envy.
‘They must be speculating just how deep my relationship with Darcy really is.’
It wasn’t enough that rumors were circulating about us being lovers; now I was seen buying toys for children as well.
Of course, I had prepared a reason for this.
Some of the toys I purchased today were donated to an orphanage in the capital. It was a perfect opportunity to do good while avoiding prying eyes—a win-win situation.
Those who weren’t aware of the exact amount of toys I bought would think I had donated all of them to the orphanage.
Of course, some people would be suspicious no matter what I did.
As I made eye contact with the people who had been whispering, they flinched and suddenly began fanning themselves as if the weather had gotten hotter.
‘So what?’
I flashed them a bright smile before quickly getting into my carriage. I needed to escape from the people who were rushing over to talk to me.
Once inside, I locked the door and let out a sigh of relief.
The fact that I could smile so calmly under such scrutiny meant I had grown bolder. I’d come a long way.
‘Before I leave, I should host a tea party.’
I needed to leave a good impression on my future guests and also address the rumors about Darcy and me.
I’d have to discuss with Darcy exactly how to handle the situation.
Honestly, I was fine with things as they were, but I didn’t know how Darcy felt.
After all, we weren’t officially lovers yet.
I touched the back of my hand where his lips had pressed. The warmth I felt still lingered vividly.
Even during such a busy day, thoughts of Darcy kept creeping in.
‘I wonder if Darcy thinks about me as much as I think about him.’
I hoped he did.
I wanted him to think of our moments of contact as fondly as I did.
After Marceau left, people began to gossip even louder in front of the toy store.
Since the rumors had spread that Marceau had completely ended things with Ryan and given Darcy a gift of magic stones, the number of people openly envying her had decreased.
“She seems to be very close to Prince Darcy…”
“She’s abandoned Ryan, tsk tsk. People should have principles.”
“Saving Lady Leshuan was probably just a coincidence.”
“Buying toys… Could it be…?”
The ones speaking openly were the nobles aligned with Ryan. They had been given orders by him.
It was part of Ryan’s strategy to isolate Marceau once again.
The ultimate goal was to use Marceau’s affection for him to bring down Darcy.
These nobles, tasked with an important mission from Ryan, loudly voiced their speculations.
“What an interesting load of nonsense.”
Of course, this didn’t last long.
After Marceau’s carriage left, Darcy appeared on the scene, abruptly cutting off their conversation.
“P-Prince Darcy…”
“Didn’t expect the subject of your gossip to show up, did you? I guess word hasn’t spread yet about the mess I made at the palace.”
Everyone knew about the incident where the palace door was broken.
“I’m capable of breaking more than just inanimate objects, you know.”
At Darcy’s words, the nobles’ faces turned pale. He didn’t seem to be joking.
The nobles who weren’t aligned with Ryan quickly tried to distance themselves from the situation.
“I didn’t say anything, Your Highness.”
“Me neither.”
“Oh, I know who did. I don’t bother innocent people.”
Darcy nodded at their words. Those who had avoided his wrath felt a wave of relief. They were surprised by how straightforward Darcy was.
Who would have thought he was so principled that he wouldn’t harm innocent people?
It made them think they should live honestly from now on. Darcy’s sudden appearance had a surprisingly reformative effect on them.
Darcy took a step forward, and the nobles nervously touched their throats, trembling.
“P-Prince Darcy, I was just preparing for any possible situation-”
“Tell Ryan to find another plan. This one’s a failure.”
Darcy’s lips curled into a twisted smile as he watched their futile attempts to justify themselves.
“I don’t care what you say about me, but… don’t involve others. At least uphold the honor of being a prince.”
At his words, the crowd held their breath.
Maybe the so-called lunatic was actually a decent person. More suited to be emperor than Ryan-
“Argh!”
One noble’s ear was suddenly grazed by something. Darcy didn’t even blink as he twirled a small gun in his hand.
“Oops, my mistake. I was aiming for your temple.”
“…What is this?”
As the noble cried out in pain, people gathered around, but Darcy remained silent.
Whatever he had shown them, it was clear he could take their lives if he wished.
Everyone began to summon their guards and slowly backed away from Darcy. There was a reason the rumors called him a lunatic.
Darcy crouched down next to the noble who was clutching his bleeding ear, meeting his gaze with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.
His gleaming eyes looked like those of a reaper ready to claim a soul.
“If I hear those rumors again, this will go in your mouth next time.”
Darcy’s smile was angelic, but his actions were more akin to a demon’s.
And so, the small commotion came to an end. Ryan’s petty scheme had failed.
Later, when Kies heard about this, he flew into a rage and ordered Darcy to be placed under house arrest.
But all this did was further fuel Darcy’s growing reputation.
Leticia couldn’t stop thinking about what Marceau had said.
‘My own identity…’
She owed her life to Prince Ryan. She believed that no matter what he did, her faith in him would be unshakable for the rest of her life.
That was until Marceau completely shattered her world.
During the time she served as Marceau’s maid, Leticia had seen a side of Marceau that was entirely different from what Ryan had described.
So different, in fact, that it was hard to believe they were the same person.
At first, she thought Marceau was just wearing a mask.
But the more time she spent with her, the more she realized that Marceau’s actions were sincere.
Ryan didn’t believe it. He even warned Leticia not to be deceived.
Leticia believed Ryan. Even though she felt some sympathy for Marceau, she couldn’t believe that she had truly changed.
Not until the day Marceau looked at her with eyes full of betrayal.
Watching the hope in someone’s eyes shatter into pieces was a horrible feeling.
Leticia knew too well that Marceau had always been genuine with her.
‘I was a coward.’
She was ashamed of herself.
After clearing away the tea set, Leticia greeted Ryan as he arrived.
“You’re here.”
She didn’t mention Marceau’s visit.
‘It’s not like anything important happened anyway.’
Leticia justified it to herself as she turned her attention back to Ryan’s words.
“Letty, there’s something I need you to do.”
“…What is it, Your Highness?”
She couldn’t turn her back on Ryan.
Hadn’t he been the one to shield her from Darcy’s humiliation?
“You’ll be acting as a liaison from now on.”
“A liaison… with whom?”
As someone who had operated as a head of a trading company and served Ryan faithfully, Leticia had done a lot.
“With the Marquis of Efeckle.”
“Don’t you already visit the Marquis frequently?”
It was odd. With all the time Ryan spent at the Marquis’s estate because of Leshuan, Leticia couldn’t understand what else he would need her to do.
“No, this is separate from Leshuan. Actually, it’s better if she doesn’t know about this.”
Another secret, another thing someone shouldn’t know about.

Leticia’s face grew troubled as she murmured.
“…Is this really the right thing to do?”
Ryan frowned slightly.
“Are you doubting me?”
“No, of course not.”
Leticia fell silent.
But the seeds of doubt Marceau had planted had already begun to take root.
‘What is he planning this time?’
Once again, her lord was on the verge of disappointing her.
Leticia was faced with a choice.
Would she choose loyalty or righteousness?
The toy store raid was just the beginning.
Dresses, books, household items… For ten days, I swept through all the major stores in the capital.
It was obvious that people would start saying I was back to my old ways, but I now had the mental fortitude to brush it off.
‘That’s just the bitter talk of people who envy my wealth.’
There’s nothing like the thrill of being able to buy anything without looking at the price tag.
A lot happened while I was preparing to meet the magicians.
First, a gift arrived from the Marquis of Efeckle.
It was a token of appreciation for saving Leshuan.
Along with this, rumors began to spread that Darcy was the real force behind Kies’s military victories.
Kaysen, who supported Darcy, became a key witness, running around and spreading the word.
I could vividly recall the last time I saw him, practically under Darcy’s thumb, but it seemed like they were a good match.
And finally…
“This bastard must be out of his mind.”
Darcy scoffed as he read the discreet invitation Ryan had sent him.
