Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Fei Zhao, Jiu Su’s Soul Is as Dazzling as Yours

Lord Li chuckled coldly. "Prestige?"

"In the eyes of those fools in the Empire, females are nothing more than walking wombs and breeding tools!"

"Jiu Su should have been like the other Holy Females: a docile, gilded canary, cooing sweet nothings to the male beasts and endlessly popping out cubs on the childbearing production line. That way, she could have secured her high position and enjoyed a life of luxury."

"But no, she just had to be the one to flip the table!"

Lord Li drew an Energy Dagger, toying with it in his hand.

"By establishing an organization to protect Wasted Females, she chiseled a crack in the ironclad rule of the males."

"The Male Alliance uses those barren Wasted Females to pacify and control the easily frenzied low and mid-rank male beasts."

"But Jiu Su wants to help them break their shackles. Isn’t that a slap in the face to the males of the Empire?"

"She encouraged females to resist the fertility laws. That’s practically carving a pound of flesh from those with vested interests!"

"Why do you think the Empire’s powers-that-be got involved?"

Lord Li’s lips curled into a grim, cold sneer.

"Jiu Su has threatened the core interests of too many male beasts. They want to drag her down from her pedestal and force her back into her proper place."

"Shut up, obey, and breed!"

"Right now, Jiu Su is like a lone wolf trapped in a dark alley, covered in wounds but still holding on. But unfortunately..."

The Energy Dagger in Lord Li’s hand shot out, stabbing deep into the metal table. He said viciously,

"In the face of absolute power, her resistance is as futile as smashing an egg against a rock."

Countless Beastmen signed a petition demanding Jiu Su respond in person.

[What kind of Holy Female hides and skulks like this?]

[If you’ve got the guts, come out and face these accusations!]

[Too scared to show your face and respond? Is it because you have a guilty conscience?]

[What normal Holy Female isn’t cherished and protected by her Beast Husband?]

[But look at her! She doesn’t even have a Beast Husband to back her up. Maybe she’s a Wasted Female who can’t be seen in public!]

The abuse on the Star Network surged like a tidal wave. Every vicious comment was an invisible chain, trying to drag Jiu Su from behind the scenes and into the spotlight to be judged.

A blazing fire of rage ignited in Fei Zhao’s red eyes. He spun to face Su An’an. "Where is Lord Jiu Su’s Beast Husband?"

His voice was tight with suppressed fury. "Why isn’t he stepping forward at a time like this?"

Startled by his sudden question, Su An’an scratched her cheek and answered guiltily,

"I don’t know, either. I’ve never heard my master mention anything about a Beast Husband."

"But!" Her eyes lit up with a brilliant glow. "Jiu Su doesn’t need any Beast Husband’s support! She can defeat these rumors and slander all by herself!"

Fei Zhao gazed at Su An’an’s vibrant profile, momentarily lost in a daze.

Sunlight streamed through the window, bathing her in a golden halo.

"Besides, she has me!"

Su An’an puffed out her chest proudly. "I will support her to the very end."

Fei Zhao lowered his gaze, hiding his racing heart. "And me."

His voice was soft, but it landed with unshakeable force. "I will mobilize the entire strength of the Fox Clan."

His long fingers swiped rapidly across the Light Screen, pulling up a strategic deployment map. "The Star Network firewall is in position. Three hundred elites are on standby."

His nails suddenly shot out, gleaming with a cold light. "If necessary, I don’t mind making certain people shut up for good."

Su An’an was moved but also confused. "Why are you helping Jiu Su so much?"

She narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "Don’t tell me you’ve fallen in love with her?" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

Her mind flashed back to the days she’d spent with him disguised as Jiu Su.

’I’m sure I never gave him any romantic signals.’

’Our relationship was as pure as moonlight on a field of snow.’

Fei Zhao’s movements abruptly froze. A strange light flickered in his brilliant red eyes.

He looked at Su An’an and let out a soft laugh. "Love?"

His fluffy ears twitched. "I just see in her..."

His voice suddenly dropped to a murmur, "...the same dazzling soul I see in you."

Su An’an froze, the tips of her ears quietly turning red. "Wh-what do you mean?"

"The kind of stubbornness that would rather let your spine break than kneel."

He suddenly looked up, his red eyes boring straight into Su An’an’s.

"It’s like the fire that burned in your eyes when you decided to save Night Abyss."

An alarm suddenly blared from the Holographic Screen, shattering the delicate atmosphere.

Fei Zhao quickly composed himself, his nail tracing a blood-red trajectory across the Star Map. "I’ve locked on to the IPs of 327 malicious accounts. Should I scrub them now?"

Still reeling from the shock of his words, Su An’an nodded subconsciously.

’I never thought that this fox I once humiliated...’

’...could see through the network and the disguise, piercing straight to the same essence beneath both identities.’

Su An’an’s heart skipped a beat. She reached out and grabbed Fei Zhao’s sleeve. "When we get back to the Imperial City..."

Her voice softened unconsciously. "Can we start over? I’ll definitely find a way to solve your genetic collapse..."

"There’s no need."

Fei Zhao cut her off, resolutely pulling his sleeve from her grasp. "We’ll get a divorce as soon as we’re back in the Imperial City."

His words were like a bucket of ice water poured over Su An’an’s head.

Her eyes widened in disbelief. "Why?"

’Just a moment ago, the look in his eyes held an undisguised love for me.’

Fei Zhao stood with his back to her, the flashing coordinates on the Star Map reflected in his red eyes. "Your Highness, why delude yourself?"

His voice was soft, yet sharp as a knife. "Back then, you severed more than just my fox tail."

"You also severed the delusional fantasy a half-breed should never have had."

Su An’an’s fingertips trembled. She took a step forward and said, aggrieved, "I’ve changed. From now on, I’ll definitely..."

"Some things,"

Fei Zhao suddenly cut her off, his voice terrifyingly calm. "once a choice is made, you must bear the consequences."

A faint light flickered in his red eyes, like the last struggling spark before a storm. "They are irreversible!"

Su An’an stood frozen to the spot.

She saw Fei Zhao’s long fingers gripping the edge of the table so tightly his knuckles had turned white, almost translucent, as if he were clinging to some unseen support.

His always-upright back now seemed to emanate a desolate solitude, on the verge of collapse. The chill surrounding him was like a meticulously crafted suit of ice armor.

In a daze, she seemed to pierce through that armor of ice and see a small cub, curled up in the darkness.

It was the Fei Zhao of his childhood—covered in thorns yet craving warmth, rushing toward the light even knowing he would be burned.

"Fei Zhao..." Just as Su An’an was about to speak, her communicator blared with a piercing ring.
