Chapter 322: Chapter 322: Wrapping Up

Milo Cross, having vented his excess energy, lay on a nearby sofa, fast asleep and snoring.

Meanwhile, Aidan Dawson stared at the floor, his face dark and grim, not saying a word. One side of his glasses had shattered during the recent scuffle. Aidan picked the glasses up from the floor and put them back on. As expected, his vision was a blurry mess.

Vaughn Grant stood nearby and asked cautiously, "You really didn’t know about what happened the year before last? We thought..."

They had assumed Aidan Dawson already knew. Victor Vance had been single ever since his divorce, and seeing how infatuated Aidan was, they had wanted to help bring them together. Besides, having been classmates for so many years, they knew Victor’s character. After he explained, they understood it was all a misunderstanding and didn’t think much of it. On the contrary, it was Victor who had rarely contacted them since giving his explanation.

Lily Holden sighed. "We thought you knew. After all, the scandal back then was so... In that case, we went too far. Old Alden, don’t torture yourself like this..."

The people around him tried to console him, but Aidan Dawson suddenly threw his glasses aside. Emboldened by the alcohol, he buried his head in his knees and began to wail, "I hate this!!"

Everyone around him looked guilty and helpless.

"I hate that I’m only finding out now! My junior... he must have been through so much! He’s always been so proud; even a little criticism from a teacher would upset him for half a day, but... but..." Aidan Dawson choked on his sobs. "Such a huge scandal, and he actually endured it for a whole year. All those misunderstandings and curses from so many people... how did he get through it? No wonder he never wanted to talk to me about what happened that year..."

Tears streamed down Aidan Dawson’s face. He covered his face with his hands and cried his heart out, completely losing his composure. "My junior! My junior!!"

Ever since Victor Vance’s official announcement, Aidan Dawson had deliberately avoided anything related to him. Back then, the wedding invitation had been mailed to him in Galia, but like a coward, he had declined, claiming he had to attend a film festival and didn’t have the time. Christina Lynch was a fairly famous actress, so even though Victor Vance was a non-celebrity, stories of their happy marriage always found a way to reach Aidan’s ears. He was in agony but helpless, so he could only shut himself off completely and stop listening to any news from his home country.

Then, by chance, he saw someone in their old class group chat comforting Victor Vance, telling him to stay positive and brave after his divorce. Without a moment’s hesitation, Aidan immediately bought a plane ticket home.

Surprise flashed in Lily Holden’s eyes, quickly followed by a sigh.

As if suddenly sober, Aidan Dawson struggled to his feet. "My junior..."

"Old Alden, where are you going? It’s really late..."

The moment he pushed open the door to the private room, Aidan Dawson shuddered. He caught a whiff of stale alcohol coming from himself.

Aidan Dawson bent over and dry-heaved. After being helped back into the room, he took out his phone and opened the camera. The face in the lens was a haggard, disheveled mess, his hair a bird’s nest.

’No, I can’t let my junior see me like this. I’ll definitely scare him...’

Aidan Dawson mumbled to himself and started crying even harder.

After more than five months of filming, Naomi Kenway’s scenes were finally wrapped. Because her role was significant and her performance was truly excellent, Ruby Preston slapped her thigh and immediately announced that she was treating the cast and crew to dinner that night to celebrate Naomi’s wrap.

As she was leaving the film studio, Naomi Kenway saw many fans waiting outside for her, holding banners. Some held sun umbrellas, but their cheeks were still flushed red from the sun.

Naomi went over and shook hands with them one by one, then accepted a bouquet of flowers amidst eardrum-splitting cheers and screams.

"Thank you, but please don’t wait outside for so long in this heat. You have to take care of yourselves."

While chatting with her fans, Naomi instructed her assistant beside her, "Buy some desserts and refreshing fruit tea and have them sent over."

The wrap party was held that evening. Ruby Preston sat at the head of the table, not stingy in the slightest with her praise for Naomi Kenway. "Nicole is an incredibly intuitive actress. If I hadn’t met her on that variety show, I might never have discovered this budding genius!"

Naomi Kenway smiled and said, "Director Preston, you’re too kind. You’re the one who discovered me!"

Ruby Preston could hold her liquor well; after a few glasses of baijiu, her expression remained unchanged. She stood up and raised her glass. "Come, Nicole, let me toast you! If it weren’t for you, I would never have seen such a perfect Hugh Chandler!"

Naomi Kenway paused for a second before standing up. The memory of Ethan Shaw’s warning—not to get drunk outside—surfaced in her mind.

Naomi clinked glasses with Ruby Preston and took a sip. Then, urged on by the people around them, she drank a small cup.

Her glass was filled with a fruit wine that had a relatively low alcohol content. Naomi mentally kept track of how much she was drinking and said with a smile, "In that case, Director Preston, don’t forget me for your next movie!"

"We’ll work together again! You said it, and I have a great memory!" Ruby Preston said with a laugh.

After Naomi sat down, many other people tried to get her to drink, but she refused them all, claiming she was already drunk.

Wayne Wyatt hadn’t drunk much. He was kept on a tight leash at home, as Kiera Sherman didn’t let him drink. But despite his resistance, he was still forced to down a few glasses.

Thinking back on all the little moments they had shared on set, he realized that this Chapter was, for now, coming to a close. He looked very emotional, his eyes red-rimmed, as he spoke to Naomi Kenway from the heart.

"My goddess, how is it over so soon? I haven’t had enough time with you... I mean, will we have a chance to work together again in the future? You’re so kind. You never got mad at me no matter how many times I messed up my lines. And you’re so beautiful... SOB, how can anyone be so beautiful? Goddess, you’re not human, you’re a fairy..."

Looking at Wayne Wyatt’s flushed face, Naomi knew his alcohol tolerance was ridiculously low. Even though he had only drunk a tiny bit, he was still drunk.

Clementine Coleman seemed to be in much better shape, with only a slight blush on her cheeks. She put on a fierce expression and separated Naomi from Wayne Wyatt. "Who do you think you are? Why are you pestering someone else’s wife?"

After saying that, she actually wrapped her arms around Naomi Kenway’s neck and called her "Wifey."

Naomi laughed and hugged her back, not taking it to heart. She knew Clementine Coleman was obsessed with pretty faces and would sometimes shout "Wifey!" at hot girls she saw on the street.

Naomi wasn’t put off by it; she found Clementine’s dazed state rather cute.

"Have you had too much to drink? You should have your manager take you home. Go back and get some rest."

"I’m not drunk! What effect could a couple of glasses have on me? I’m famous for being able to drink a thousand cups without falling!" After saying this, she shook her head vigorously.

Naomi couldn’t help but laugh.

Clementine Coleman’s manager had been watching from the side. Seeing this, she pulled Clementine off Naomi. "I’m so sorry to trouble you."

"It’s no problem," Naomi said.

The drunken Clementine Coleman was led away by her manager, but Wayne Wyatt, as if someone had opened his floodgates, kept rambling on and on. Finally, Luke Lowell, at the end of his rope, walked over and grabbed him by the ear. "I’m telling you, kid, that’s enough! Who taught you all this sappy crap? Stay away from my cou— Stay away from her, okay? She’s married! She’s married!!"
