Chapter 313: Chapter 313: So Sensational???

"I only like you. All other women combined aren’t half as beautiful as you are!"

Renee Jennings’s heart blossomed with joy, but she feigned annoyance. "What nonsense are you talking? I’m not nearly as beautiful as you say. I’m just an ordinary person. It’s only in your eyes that I’m some great beauty."

Nathaniel Lynch nodded repeatedly. "With you by my side, no one else could possibly catch my eye."

As the two were flirting, a child’s voice suddenly cut in. "My daddy’s a liar! He loves looking at pretty ladies!"

Renee Jennings’s expression instantly soured. The other guests, however, laughed at the unfiltered words of a child. Margaret Jennings chuckled and teased, "Is that right? Nathan, does your dad look at pretty ladies on his phone every day?"

The others didn’t take it seriously, thinking it was just a cute, childish complaint.

Nathaniel Lynch offered an apologetic smile. "Sorry to make a scene, everyone. It’s only natural to appreciate beautiful things. I won’t scroll through videos in front of the kid anymore when we’re at home. I’ll be sure to correct this bad habit!" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Then what about that auntie who got out of your car last time?" Nathan Lynch’s tone was full of confusion. "You’re already married, so why were you holding hands with someone else? Mommy never does that..."

When Nathan Lynch spoke again, the smiles vanished from the faces of all the guests on set. They began to realize this might not be a joke.

[This is so explosive! Is what Nathan said true or not? Best Actor Lynch getting out of a car holding hands with a woman? That doesn’t sound right at all. I never do that, even with my close friends of the opposite sex.]

[Renee Jennings’s face has gone pale.]

[Best Actor Lynch is cheating? No way, he doesn’t seem like that type of person. He’s said more than once that he’s a very conservative man who was raised in a strict household. He despises cheating. He said his ex-wife cheating on him left him with a huge psychological scar, and for a time he didn’t dare to try a new relationship, until he met Renee Jennings.]

[Maybe the kid just misunderstood. I don’t think Best Actor Lynch is that kind of person. He’s very traditional and old-fashioned; he really doesn’t seem like the type to cheat.]

[Traditional? How does being traditional mean you can’t cheat? Nathaniel Lynch did an interview once where he said he envied the lives of people in ancient times and said having three wives and four concubines would bring a great sense of accomplishment.]

[The user above is just making things up. Where is this interview? You probably just invented it, right?]

[Nathaniel Lynch’s PR team is incredible. That kind of damaging material evaporated right after it came out. Believe it or not. I can only advise everyone not to be so quick to pity Nathaniel Lynch. He’s no saint either.]

[No way! If Best Actor Lynch and Rachel, who are so in love, can fall apart, I’ll never believe in love again!]

...

Renee Jennings had a particularly strong reaction. She pointed a trembling finger at Nathaniel Lynch, her voice squeezed through clenched teeth. "Nathaniel Lynch, you..."

No one nearby tried to stop or placate her, because the couple didn’t exactly have a good reputation among the other guests.

"Let me explain." Nathaniel Lynch shot a harsh glare at Nathan Lynch, who simply looked back at him innocently, blinking his eyes.

Nathaniel Lynch said, "How can you take a child’s words seriously?! You know my manager, Laura, often accompanies me to events. It’s not strange for us to get out of a car together. What Nathan said about holding hands is definitely a misunderstanding. Maybe he saw us exchanging documents and got the wrong idea."

He turned his back, feigning anger. "You’d suspect me just because of a couple of childish jokes? Is that really the kind of person you think I am?!"

Renee Jennings’s expression softened slightly. She knew Nathaniel Lynch’s manager, Laura. She was a strong career woman, nearly fifty, with a slightly heavyset figure and was not what one would call attractive. Naturally, Renee Jennings wouldn’t consider Laura a rival for his affections.

But just to be sure, Renee Jennings bent down to ask Nathan Lynch, forcing a very gentle smile. "What did that woman look like? The one who was holding hands with your dad when they got out of the car, do you remember?"

Nathan Lynch shook his head. "I don’t remember clearly..."

Renee Jennings’s expression flickered through several changes, but she ultimately decided she was overthinking things. Nathaniel Lynch could be a bit temperamental, but he was generally a well-behaved man. Outside of filming and interviews, he was always at home.

The farce ended, and the village chief, wiping his tears with a handkerchief, gave each of the guests a large bag of local specialties.

"The beef jerky and naan bread in here are all homemade. Grapes are hard to transport, so we prepared raisins for you. And please try the nut cake we just made yesterday. You must come visit again when you have time. X Province welcomes you..."

With tears in his eyes, the village chief tightly gripped Naomi Kenway’s hand, thanking her repeatedly. "You must come visit when you have time."

The guests got into their car. During the drive, Naomi Kenway opened a pack of beef jerky. The jerky, made by the villagers themselves, contained no preservatives. The moment she opened the vacuum-sealed bag, the rich, savory aroma of beef filled the air. Naomi shared some with Ethan Shaw and Ian, then popped a piece into her own mouth. The flavor was intense and grew even more fragrant the more she chewed.

Looking out the window, the lush green trees flashed by.

The minivan took them to the airport, where the guests boarded a plane to Veridia.

It was a long flight of several hours. Combined with not sleeping well the previous night, as soon as Naomi Kenway boarded the plane, a wave of drowsiness washed over her. Her eyelids grew heavy, and she couldn’t help but lean her head to the side and fall asleep.

When she woke up again, she felt that the pillow she was resting on was quite hard. Lifting her head, she realized it was Ethan Shaw’s shoulder.

"What time is it?" Her voice was slightly hoarse. She wasn’t fully awake yet, her mind still foggy.

"We’ll be in Veridia in about an hour," Ethan Shaw said, looking down at her. "Want to sleep a little longer?"

Naomi Kenway nodded, then looked over at Ian, who was reading a book. "Keep an eye on our son."

Leaving him with that instruction, Naomi Kenway succumbed to her sleepiness and drifted off again.

The next time she opened her eyes, it was because Ethan Shaw was waking her. Naomi Kenway rubbed her eyes. She could hear an announcement: they had arrived in Veridia.

With no cameras around, Naomi Kenway could feel Ethan Shaw was a bit more relaxed than before. He lifted Ian up and set him on his shoulders. Liam Sherman trotted over and took the suitcase from his side. "President Shaw, Madam, hello Ian."

Naomi Kenway nodded politely. "Hello."

After they got in the car, Ethan Shaw asked Liam Sherman about the situation at the company.

Liam Sherman reported everything in detail. "There are no major issues at the company, but the board of directors is being a bit tiresome. Other than that, there are two contracts that need your review, President Shaw." As he spoke, he freed a hand to pass a file folder to Ethan Shaw. "To save time, I brought the documents with me."

Ethan Shaw took the documents.

"Caleb Bishop?" he frowned. "That name sounds a little familiar."
