The Villain Is Destined to Die: But as the Creator, I know All Endings-Chapter 234: Day - 2: The Case of East Sea Incident [1]
"GHhaaa–!! Haaah–!"
Slide. Crash.
THUD!
A woman was panting, wearing black-lined clothes, partially covering her face. A light greyish-blue sigil belonging to the Cathedral of Lancaster was imprinted on her right shoulder, just near the edge of her black sleeve.
"Heeeekk!! Ahhh... no, no, no–!!" Her sandals almost slipped on the moss-red roof. Even though she was professionally trained in this field, the one she was running away from made her feel real terror today.
And Emily, the current Head of the Dream Tower, hadn’t warned her that ’He’ would be the one chasing after her.
She regained her balance and made a run for it again. She slightly glanced down and saw a shadowy figure following her. He was wearing a long brown trench coat, with the same crest imprinted on his sleeves just like hers.
Creak–
She glanced down at her feet as a cold sensation laced her soles. Ice crystals had started to form around her sandals.
’What the—?! He cast it from that distance!!’ The fear inside her mind intensified even more.
He’s insane! If only Lady Emily had warned her beforehand about how important this thing was, then she would have taken extra precautions.
She quickened her pace, holding a prism-shaped object in one pocket, and with the other, she took out her magic wand from her dimension ring.
Slightly rotating her body, the woman fixed her eyes on the man chasing her. Stretching her hand, she was about to cast a four-star spell.
"O wind wandering the land, come forth and please m—aaaeek—!!"
Before she finished her chant, something cold passed through her entire body at once. Every fiber within her burned with intense coldness. Her muscles, bones, hair, and blood, everything froze at an absolute zero temperature.
Her body didn’t even get the chance to react. Her balance wobbled, and she fell into the alley below.
BAAAM–!!
From the impact, her frozen body cracked, and a line traced across her face, splitting it at the midline.
Her hands were out of her pocket, one holding the wand, and the other clutching the same prism the man wanted.
As her body dropped, the man briefly halted on the rooftop.
He could see the woman falling in that direction, but due to the numerous buildings and protruding structures blocking his sight, he couldn’t follow her all the way to the ground.
After a second, he deactivated [Absolute Point].
A skill capable of dropping the temperature of any designated coordinate within a six-hundred-meter radius to absolute zero.
He had used it to permanently freeze the thief’s internals.
The man descended and walked around the narrow alley adjacent to where her body had fallen. From this angle, he could finally see her corpse lying near the corner.
"O Frost that stills the world,
O Silence that judges the impure—"
He began his prayer, holding a pendant engraved with the Cathedral’s sigil, his other hand resting near his chest.
The woman groaned faintly.
He stepped closer.
ZZzZzzzzpp—!!
"Hm?"
He turned sharply toward the sound—
Only to find an empty alley.
"...Was someone here?" he muttered.
After a brief pause, he dismissed the thought.
Refocusing, he completed his prayer. The moment it ended, he knelt and took the prism from her grasp.
He examined it carefully.
"Haha... almost got it stolen." His lips curved faintly. "If not for Lady Aisha and Lady Kiki, it couldn’t have been traced."
He exhaled softly.
"Now that it’s done, I shou—"
"Heey! Don’t suddenly leave me behind Noel!" 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
A girl came running toward him, clad in armor bearing both the Frost Tower’s sigil and the Cathedral’s crest.
The man slipped the prism into his pocket and turned.
"Amantha," he called calmly. "Tell the others to secure the area."
"Hm? Alright!" she replied instantly, turning and signaling the rest of the cathedral’s members on the roof.
She paused near the twitching woman’s corpse and glanced back. He glanced at the sigil imprinted on the sleeves near the women’s elbow. "Can’t believe we got a mole inside the Cathedral. Haaah... Anyways Noel. Did you find what you were looking for?"
"Yes," he answered, without specifying further.
Amantha studied his expression for a moment.
"...Something else on your mind?" she asked.
He didn’t respond immediately.
His gaze shifted toward the distant City Harbor, where the wailing of ships echoed faintly through the night.
Slowly, he pulled the prism back out.
It unfolded in his palm, suddenly projecting a small holographic map. A sonar-like ripple pulsed across its surface.
He waved it left. Then right.
The signal grew stronger.
"...The Sea of Mist," he muttered. The pulse on the map intensified. "It’s getting closer."
"Is it really necessary for me to tag along?" Amantha asked.
Priest Noel answered, "It’s an order from Lady Aisha. You are free to reject you know..."
"Ugh..! I would not like to get lectured by her." She acted to shiver, "I still can’t handle her stare...."
* * *
Thud.
Three figures landed inside a dark room.
"...!"
"...!"
Leon let go of both and looked around. With the help of his contact lenses and Rumi’s help, he could see in the dark.
Tuning to glance at Cyan and Ethan, he noticed that Cyan had her mouth gasped open, and Ethan, he was glancing right in the eyes of Leon.
"..."
They both stared at each other for the next two or three seconds. The first one to speak up was Cyan.
"H-hey... why do I smell fish...?" Cyan muttered, pinching his nose.
Ethan didn’t answer immediately. His eyes adjusted to the darkness as he slowly scanned the room.
Wooden crates were stacked from floor to ceiling.
"...This looks like a storage room," Ethan said slowly. "A food storage room, maybe?"
"...Say what?" Cyan muttered.
He took a step back and immediately bumped his head against one of the crates.
"Oww!!"
He rubbed the back of his head and glared around. "Why did we teleport here again? Don’t tell me we’re actually staying in this place."
Leon rubbed his temple lightly.
"For now," he muttered.
Cyan stared at him. "For now? Are you for real?"
Leon didn’t elaborate. Without him doing anything, the room had a layered sound barrier across the surrounding, and presence masking. All of it done quietly, without him doing anything
Rumi hadn’t even needed instructions.
It was as if she already understood what Leon wanted, what routes to avoid, and how to minimize the risk. She handled it all on her own.
"Just wait a few more hours," Leon said calmly. "Once I finish hijacking the ship, the whole ship will be our room."
Cyan gagged. "Ahh... I hate this idea more than these fishes."
He pressed his sleeve against his nose and sighed in misery.
Ethan, meanwhile, leaned his back against the wall, his posture. His senses were already mapping the room.
’A voiceless incantation...’ he thought. ’Impressive.’
He glanced toward Leon.
"So," Ethan said evenly. He took out a small lamp and placed it between them, as they all sat down.
"What’s the plan for hijacking an A.R. Magictech cargo ship?"
Leon didn’t answer right away.
Ethan continued, "One hundred and twenty active guards. Thirty-three laborers. Two captains. Can we handle it all on our own? Manipulating these many would be the toughest part here."
Leon lowered his hand from his temple. Then he smiled slightly.
"That’s the easiest part."
"Hm?" Both Ethan and Cyan were confused right now. "How do you exact—"
Cyan’s tongue halted as he saw Leon’s body start to wobble. From his flesh, down to his hair.
It was slowly disfiguring.
Ethan straightened up slightly, his eyes beginning to scan Leon’s mana signature.
Right now, a humongous amount of mana was being drained from Leon’s mana core and flooding every corner of his body.
’What is he doing? And is that a skill?’
[Mirage Persona]
Den Cooper’s white hair lengthened to his shoulders. His cheeks became pointed and slim. Ethan’s eyes landed toward Leon’s chest.
It was slowly gaining volume.
The same happened with his thighs and waist.
His skin grew smoother. His eyes turned a deeper crimson, framed by long white eyelashes.
In an instant, Leon had become something completely opposite of his kind.
"How do I look?" Leon asked, his voice now carrying a newly acquired sweet tone.
"..."
"..."
Leon blinked. "Why are you two this qui—?"
"What the hell?!" Cyan screamed at the top of his lungs.
He practically threw himself away from Leon.
"Ooi, ooi... that’s rather dramatic don’t you think," Leon said in a pleasant tone. She gave a slight tilt to Cyan.
Leon let out a soft chuckle and turned toward Ethan.
He had been expecting disbelief. Maybe a bit of a confusion. Or at least a sharp remark wrapped in dry humor in his usual tone.
Instead, Ethan was staring at him with a rather too serious yet disbelief expression.
That expression alone made Leon pause. "Hm?"
"That face..." Ethan said slowly, lifting a finger and pointing at Leon. "I think, I’ve seen it before."
After hearing him, Leon lifted his hand and traced his own face.
Leon didn’t put much effort in his current appearance at all.
He glazed at the water laying on the floor just beside his figure.
On it, the face that Leon had taken, it previously matches—
"The Swordmaiden." Ethan muttered, recalling her.
