Chapter 161 – Meng Shanshan… had already been taken away by a big bad wolf in a matter of seconds (1)
Lu Xun had learned a big lesson from his one failed date with Lin Yiyi.
Ever since then, as long as Lin Yiyi was concerned, he would always check the weather report before he left the house. Just in case. His attention to details was impeccable.
It was the end of September, and the weather was mild and the sky was clear.
The car moved forward steadily.
At the beginning of the trip, Ms. Lin Ping and Mr. Gu Chengyi were still chatting in the car with Lu Xun and Lin Yiyi chiming in occasionally.
After a while, the two elderlies could not hold out any longer. One after the other, they had fallen asleep.
The inside of the car had fallen silent.
Meng Yuran napped for a little while as well. When he looked up, he noticed that Lu Xun, the driver, was the only one still awake in the front two rows.
He turned his head and saw that his silly little sister, sitting in the middle spot of their row, had also fallen asleep. Her red little lips were parted slightly, and she looked a lot like the silly cat they have at home!
He pulled his little sister closer to him, figuring that it’d be more comfortable for her to lean against his shoulder when she slept.
When he looked up again, he met the eyes of that jerk. He pursed his lips and turned back around to look out of the window.
Lu Mingzhe noticed what Meng Yuran was doing earlier. He turned and looked over to his side.
This pair of brother and sister were so close with each other.
He couldn’t help but think how great it’d be if only he has a little sister too.
He had never said it out loud before, but all of Lin’s family members were quite nice.
Lu Mingzhe looked over in the direction of the driver seat…
The only problem was that his uncle wasn’t the brightest. It might be difficult for him to score himself a wife.
Lu Xun, not knowing that his own nephew was critiquing him at that very moment, continued to focus on following the directions of the GPS.
He glanced over at Lin Yiyi halfway through and noticed that she, too, had fallen asleep in her seat.
He fished out the blanket that he had prepared ahead of time from under the seat and put it on her when he stopped at a red light.
The drive was about 2 hours long.
They left early enough that they were able to get to their destination before 10 AM.
Everybody in the car had woken up, and none of them felt as lively as the one who drove the entire way.
Lin Yiyi took a look at the thin blanket that was placed on her without her knowing and glanced over at the one in the driver’s seat. She felt a bit of warmth in her heart.
But then, after she turned to check on her own two children and inevitably saw Lu Mingzhe, who was sitting next to them, any appreciative feelings that she just had were gone immediately.
She understood that things might not necessarily go according to the story in the book, but the male lead of the original novel being here was still like a time bomb…
She really wanted to overlook it, but she couldn’t help but feel alarmed around him.
Lu Xun, not knowing the struggle inside of her, handed her a bottle of water. She took it from him listlessly and took a sip, still feeling blue.
She looked back over at the back row again.
Ms. Lin Ping and Mr. Gu Chengyi had already gotten out of the car. Meng Yuran, too, had hopped out of the car before he turned around to help out his little sister.
Meng Shanshan, her hands in her brothers and then there was Lu Mingzhe supporting her from behind…
His protective stand displeased not just Meng Yuran. After seeing that, even Lin Yiyi was alarmed.
Luckily, all he did was to give her a little bit of support and nothing else.
After she had recollected herself, Lin Yiyi laughed at herself for overreacting.
Both of her kids were still young and Lu Mingzhe wasn’t that domineering CEO in the business world some 10 years from now. And her daughter was just 6 years old.
It wasn’t too late to start teaching her proper values.
First thing first. She must teach her how to stay away from “scumbags”!
Little girl Meng Shanshan, who had just leaped off of the car, felt an inexplicable chill.
