The Unveiling of Secret Queen-Chapter 1329: Amadeus Criticizes Others, Both Ruthless and Steady
"..." Why would he court death like this?
He hasn’t offended Amadeus!
Mateo Gordon was even more perplexed, instinctively driven to seek help. In his frantic gaze, he saw Caryn Zachmann and, abandoning any pretense in front of his goddess, shouted in panic and embarrassment, drenched in sweat, "Caryn, Ms. Zachmann, please speak for me! I... I haven’t done anything wrong, what have I done?"
Caryn Zachmann’s face showed an expression of swallowing a fly, extraordinarily disdainful of him calling out her name at this moment.
But everyone knew Mateo Gordon was her lackey!
Mateo Gordon’s disgrace would inevitably drag her down too.
Caryn Zachmann had no choice but to brace herself and step forward, looking towards the door at the man wrapped in detachment and coldness. She spoke in a deep voice, "Amadeus, what has Mateo Gordon done? He’s been with me all afternoon; there shouldn’t be anything wrong. Could you look past this for my... face?"
She hadn’t finished speaking.
Amadeus Yancey lifted his eyelids, with eyes as deep and boundless as the ocean. He sneered, his tone quite chilly, and retorted, "Your face? What face do you have?"
Slap!
Caryn Zachmann felt as if a slap landed on her, her ears suddenly heated up, with warmth rushing from her ears to her scalp, making her face sting with pain.
Yet, she felt cold all over.
Her blood ran cold.
Even her toes curled in chill, wishing she could find a hole to crawl into.
Caryn Zachmann could hardly believe Amadeus Yancey would be so dismissive of her, murmuring in disbelief, "Ama... Amadeus??"
Amadeus Yancey didn’t even spare her a glance, lazily calling out, "Alfred, take him away."
"Alright."
Alfred Garland already had Mateo Gordon under control, leading him towards the door.
Before leaving, Amadeus Yancey slipped a hand into his pocket, exuding an air of regal indolence, his eyelashes casting shadows over a blue hue. He glanced sideways at the woman standing there, coldly saying, "I’ll take him back for questioning first. If this matter is related to you, don’t worry; you’ll soon be reunited with him."
"..."
Caryn Zachmann was startled by his words, her face turning pale.
Her fingernails dug into her palms with enough force to almost snap them.
She had no idea what Mateo Gordon had done, but vaguely guessed that during the time he was missing in the afternoon, he must have done something.
Otherwise, when he called her to meet in the afternoon, he wouldn’t have mentioned over the phone that he had taken care of her grievances, telling her not to be upset anymore.
She merely pretended not to know and avoided probing into what Mateo Gordon had actually done.
Upon hearing Amadeus Yancey’s words, she finally realized the fear, breaking out in cold sweat on her back. Caryn Zachmann opened her mouth to rebut but seeing that neither Alfred nor Amadeus Yancey had any intention to acknowledge her, she felt as if something was stuck in her throat, unable to utter a word.
Helplessly watching Alfred lead Mateo Gordon away, vanishing alongside Amadeus Yancey’s figure from her line of sight.
After a brief inability to breathe, Caryn Zachmann began to panic.
She pinched her palm, turning her face pale, hurriedly grabbing her bag from the chair and walking out in agitation.
Before leaving, she glanced at the table where Mateo Gordon had left a small box for her.
Saying it contained a very precious small pill.
Remembering Mateo Gordon’s claims about the rarity of this pill, she hesitated briefly, returned to take the exquisite box with her, and hurriedly departed...
