The Undercover Heir is Actually Tycoon's Secret Girlfriend-Chapter 471 - 390
After Bai Liang returned to the room, she locked herself in the bathroom and cried alone.
Rong Zhi stood at the door and listened for a moment before deciding to let her cry it out. She opened her laptop and connected with Jing Ji on a video call, but even with her headphones on, she heard the noise from behind.
Bai Liang cried until she was dizzy and exhausted. After finally composing herself, when she came out and saw Rong Zhi there, the guilt surged uncontrollably in her heart, making her already swollen eyes from crying turn red again.
"Rong, *hiccup*, Rong Zhi."
She was crying and hiccuping, unable to speak clearly.
Rong Zhi gestured to Jing Ji to pause, then turned her swivel chair to face Bai Liang, raising her eyebrows slightly to signal her to continue.
Bai Liang anxiously twisted the corner of her clothes. After today’s assessment, she felt she might really be, as Meng Shenghui said, a burden in this team of elites.
She wanted to quit the competition.
Rong Zhi, initially typing on the keyboard, lowered her laptop screen with a light slam at Bai Liang’s words. Although her face showed no expression, Bai Liang could easily sense her anger.
She was angry because of her.
This realization made Bai Liang instinctively shrink her shoulders, trying to reduce her presence.
"Look up, look at me."
The girl’s words were succinct and commanding, leaving no room for defiance.
Bai Liang shivered, biting her lip as she slowly and hesitantly raised her head, unexpectedly meeting eyes that seemed to hold snow from a cold mountain. She paused slightly and clenched her fists to force herself to stay calm.
Rong Zhi leaned over to grab her phone, unlocked the screen, and opened WeChat, but her gaze stayed fixed on Bai Liang. She repeated her question: "You want to quit the competition?"
Bai Liang: "...Yes."
Rong Zhi curled her lips coldly, rarely exhibiting such a clear aggressiveness. Bai Liang felt overwhelmed by her aura, took several deep breaths, and couldn’t help but have tears rim her eyes.
The girl pretended not to notice, and for the first time, questioned her with a very stern tone: "Why did you study medicine? For the competition?"
Not waiting for Bai Liang’s answer, she continued speaking on her own.
Her gaze was firm and serious.
"We study medicine to save lives, to help those suffering from illness and pain receive treatment, recover, and return to normal life."
She initially studied medicine to be able to survive better, but it wasn’t until her first patient recovered and thanked her that she truly understood why she pursued medicine.
The light and joyful smile on a patient’s face has always been the goal for which a doctor strives.
"Think carefully about why you entered the profession in the first place."Rong Zhi put her feet down and pulled out the chair to stand. Holding her phone, she turned and left the room.
Everyone has a piece of pure goodness in their heart, but that is not an excuse for cowardice.
For someone like Bai Liang, gentle persuasion doesn’t work; you have to give her a hard wake-up call to make her snap out of it.
If, after thinking it over, she still insists on quitting the competition, Rong Zhi would have nothing more to say.
After leaving the room, Rong Zhi left the space for Bai Liang and went to the living room. She found a corner to sit in; at this hour, there were few people coming downstairs, except for Ye Li, who ran into her while going out for dinner.
"Rong Zhi." Ye Li stood in front of her.
Rong Zhi raised her head.
"Can you tell Bai Liang something for me?" Ye Li pressed his lips together and sighed softly, "Just tell her we don’t blame her. To err is human; good luck in the individual competition."
After speaking, he waved his hand and left.
Rong Zhi rubbed the screen of her phone. She waited a long time, but Bai Liang didn’t come downstairs.
The sky darkened, and the temperature dropped abruptly.
She sat for another couple of minutes and then went to buy some late-night snacks from a fast-food place before it closed, bringing it back to the room.
The room was dimly lit, with only a faint light near the door where the bed was, coming from the laptop screen.
Bai Liang had fallen asleep on her laptop.
