The Ugly Duckling Of The Tiger Tribe-Chapter 67: Gosh, things are so messed up so early
I ran all the way to the Northern edge, taking a long route so Solin wouldn’t follow me all the way.
I needed time to clear my head.
If we became friends, I would definitely be of help to her. But would she be of help to me or would it be presumptuous of me to ask her for her assistance?
I keep thinking back to the movies I watched where the capable character, even as a side character, keeps people capable around them and acts like the princess.
Hm, let me make it clearer.
Since she’s so capable and her personality takes a turn all the time, there’s no telling how to please her.
So in the end, I have to kiss her coat tail. I have to be on my toes around her and then cater to her needs. But then, it becomes hard for me to ask her for anything since I’m in a position to be giving and not receiving.
Okay, so that’s not friendship. That’s literally working as a henchman or a minion.
But I get that vibe from Solin whenever I see her.
She’s the type to be on top and grab all the attention no matter where she goes, even though she does nothing but stand there.
Unlike Veyra who needs to ’act’ to steal attention, Solin has a natural talent for it.
For someone like that to ask me to be friends with her, I just can’t help but think frantically about it.
’Why am I even thinking so deeply about it?’ I wondered, panting and trying to catch my breath as I finally stopped running. ’Even if I agree to be friends with her, I’m not some dumbo who will let myself be used like a servant. I’m not doing this to try and win her favor so nothing will happen if she makes a request I don’t want to carry out and refuse.’
I have every reason to say no.
And besides, once she makes an unreasonable request, I’ll know right away that I made a wrong choice.
I feel I should just accept and see how it goes.
I don’t know Solin very well but in the novel I wrote, I made her appear during this visit, as well as Fenric.
That’s why their names were so familiar when they were introduced.
I made no villains but I did make a lot of extraordinary side characters.
In my story, Fenric and Veyra appeared twice. I made them extraordinary in appearance, but I didn’t give them a lot of scene, putting no importance since who I made to be attracted to Veyra was... I paused and raised my head... Rhask.
The second prince. The one who looks like he’d pass the audition for being a K-pop idol with just his looks. He was the one who ended up with Veyra.
He fell for her at first sight and became one of her incredible love interests.
But I don’t know if things are going to go like that this time too.
After all, the Veyra in this world is vicious, unlike the Veyra in the novel who was the main character and had no worries.
She did not scheme but was already a male magnet with her protagonist aura.
She didn’t go for Fenric in my story and that’s why he wasn’t mentioned often.
But Veyra now wants Fenric, so she might use Rhask, who fell for her—if he did fall for her—to her advantage.
"Gosh, things are so messed up so early," I mumbled, brushing my arm over my head to clean my sweat. "If one of the original male leads becomes a puppet for Veyra right now just to gain her favor, then I’ll need to be even more on guard."
Rhask might not be as capable as Fenric, but he was a softie who could get easily obsessed and do anything for Veyra.
Those types are the most dangerous.
Why didn’t I think of this earlier?
But even if I did, it’s not like I could have stopped the two from meeting.
The order of the story is all messed up, and everything is so different, so I don’t know what to expect or when to expect it. That’s why I can’t rely heavily on the information from my novel.
"I should just be cautious from now on," I said to myself. That’s the only way to survive in this dangerous tribe, even if for just a few days.
So, the conclusion was that I would accept Solin’s offer to be friends, keep an eye on what Veyra is up to, and then keep my ears open for any mention of Rhask.
Right... Piece~ of cake. My ass.
It’s more difficult when there is no information Network and no Internet to follow gossip closely.
I have to be outside to hear the gossip in person and I have to sneak around if I don’t want to interrupt them.
I shoved my fingers through my hair and then sighed.
It’s time to put my back into it.
I wasted a lot of time, but I finally got to Harok’s hut.
"Hello, I’m here!" I announced and waited a second before heading into the heavy threading of the soil. I mean, his footsteps were quite heavy as he walked out and then pushed the ’curtain’ in front of his door to reveal his big tanned form.
He was the same as he was the previous day. It looked like he had been sleeping.
Do bears like to sleep a lot?
Maybe it’s because he’s old.
He noticed me down there.
"Oh, it’s you." He said, his face lighting up in excitement. "I wondered when you were going to show up. I already finished this morning. Come and take a look."
He held up the curtain and I nodded, walking in.
It’s so awkward not having to say things like good morning when they get straight to the point.
I walked in, and then the first thing I saw was the round bowl on the floor of his workspace.
My eyes glistened as soon as I saw it. It was a bowl.
A wooden bowl, just as I had described.
I hurried to go pick it up and then lifted it with glee.
"You did it!"
