The Ugly Duckling Of The Tiger Tribe-Chapter 140: Why don’t we visit the healer instead?
Fenric finally let go of Veyra after leaving sufficient scars on her face and arms, just as she had done to me.
She trembled on the ground, her sobs echoing into the dirt.
The beastfolks drew back, scared by Fenric’s energy, scared by what might become of them.
They cowered.
But Fenric did not give them the time of day as he turned and headed towards me.
He walked past Kaelor, still kneeling on the ground, and said nothing.
Once he got to me, he looked at the scratches on my face and then my arms. He clicked his tongue in disdain.
"I should’ve acted sooner," he mumbled, self-blame eating at him.
"Ai, it’s fine," I said, taking my arm back.
"No, it’s not, Arinya." He said and then turned to Damar. "Hey, reptile, your blood... doesn’t it heal or something?"
What was he talking about all of a sudden?
The tense situation just now seemed like nothing to him as he began to act like he usually did.
It was as if he were trying to hold himself together after just losing control.
Though the anger still simmered like steam floating out of his body.
I could see that steam and I worried that he would not recover from this.
"My blood doesn’t heal." He said. "I’m a snake remember? I have poison in my blood."
"Then?" Fenric tilted his head. "Are you saying your blood can harm Arinya?"
"No, it can’t." He said and then pulled me closer, kissing the top of my head. "Ari can’t be harmed by my blood, but you can."
"Tch, then help me come up with a solution. We can’t leave her pretty face all scratched up like this."
"Um," seeing them arguing like nothing had happened just felt weird. And to make it worse, we were still in front of everyone.
I bet they were wishing for us to hurry and leave after the mess we made.
Their eyes were filled with fear, and their bodies were rigid, hoping not to make a mistake that would make them the second Veyra.
I mean, it’s not like we’re the bad guys but they see us as so.
Well, that’s enough.
"My blood may not be able to heal her instantly but..." He slipped his tongue out. "I’m sure I can make her feel better if I lick her wounds."
My face flushed and I cleared my throat.
Were they planning to use that logic even now?
I don’t mind if they want to lick me till I get better but it would be safer to visit the healer so the wounds don’t get inflamed.
"Why don’t we visit the healer instead?" I suggested and they both turned to me.
For a moment, they didn’t say anything, as if contemplating my words, and then Damar said,
"My saliva will work faster." My eyes fell blank.
Why was he so confident?
"I think so too," Fenric said. "If you go to the healer now, it will only leave a scar on your body."
Huh, I don’t think using your saliva will help that much either. Why is he so confident that Damar might be able to heal me?
I guess I’ll just see what they’re going to do and afterwards, I’ll find some herbs.
"Ari," Damar called. "I know a few herbs that will work better than anything this tribe has to offer." He said with a serious tone. "I don’t want you to rely on them anymore. They... Already hurt you enough. They can’t heal what they hurt."
I understand where he’s coming from. So, he, in fact, wasn’t serious about healing me with his saliva. But it pleases me to hear him say stuff like that.
I reached for his face and stroked it.
This situation did not escalate beyond this and I did not fall into Veyra’s scheme thanks to his deep thinking.
I guess it was a good idea to let him go out to hunt. If not, he would’ve never come to hear that male’s remark and take him out before he tried anything with me.
All things happen for a reason, they say.
Misfortune can sometimes turn to fortune.
I smiled at him and turned.
"Alright, both of you. Let’s head to our cave. As soon as we get back, we’re going to head out." I said but then spotted Solin.
Given this situation, I doubt she had time to pack up. In that case...
"Hold on for a moment," I said and walked towards her.
Solin looked at the scratches first and then frowned, unhappy.
"You should’ve just let my brother kill her." She said, which took me back.
"Huh?"
"It’s nothing." She said. "But I guess with this situation, you’re going to give me bad news, right?"
"I’m sorry, Solin. But we can’t travel together." I said to her. "But I’ll definitely come visit your tribe one day. So, just look forward to that day."
"Yes, yes, I’ll look forward to it." She said and wanted to hug me but couldn’t because of the scratches all over me. She clicked her tongue to get hateful, and something bothered me.
I hope... She’s not going to finish the deed once I leave.
I mean, it won’t be on my head once I’m gone but just in case...
"Let’s let Veyra suffer for as long as possible," I said, and then her eyes glistened.
"Got it!"
But then I feared she misunderstood and took my words as giving her a go-ahead to torment her.
Haha, whatever. It’ll work out well.
I turned to my father and brothers who were cowering behind him. I let out a not-so-impressed sigh and then walked towards him, bowing my head.
After one bow, I raised my head and said to him.
"This will be the last bow I give to you," I said. "I hope you live a long life."
His face seethed in pain but he did not say anything and nodded his head.
I turned and walked towards my husbands, smiling in victory.
"Alright, let’s head back to our cave now."
