The Tyrant's Stolen Bride-Chapter 106: The Hidden Agenda
Veyona was immersed in conversation with Ferro over dinner when Kiera stepped into the dining room. She took a seat as a maid brought her plate.
Veyona frowned, her mood instantly souring at Kiera’s arrival.
Ferro lifted his head toward his mistress. "Kiera, it’s been a while. You’re back all of a sudden."
Kiera helped herself to the dishes, her eyes never lifting to meet his. "A lot’s been going on out there... just business stuff."
"That brothel of yours? Any untouched girls there? Let me have first pick." he said dryly.
Veyona nearly choked. Her expression didn’t change, but something hardened behind her eyes.
She was well aware that her husband harbored such disgusting desires, but even with a grandchild on the way, he hadn’t bothered to change.
She sighed inwardly, thinking back on how Ferro had shaped Dante.
Her appetite vanished instantly. She set her cutlery down, dabbed her lips with a napkin, and rose from her seat.
"I’m full. Please excuse me." She left for her room without another word.
Watching her retreat, Kiera felt a quiet sense of satisfaction. A pleased smile curled at her lips. It had been a long time since she’d last picked a fight with her.
Turning her attention back to Ferro, she replied, "Just come to my place, but don’t expect a discount."
"Money’s not an issue. Just make sure there are two or three waiting for me," he said, a smile spread across his face.
Kiera nodded, she then saw her chance to ease into the main topic.
"About the grandchild, any news from Dante?" she asked, her eyes fixed on her plate, pretending the topic didn’t concern her.
Ferro only shrugged.
"Did something happen to them?" she asked with feigned concern.
"I don’t know. The last I heard, his wife was suffering from severe nausea. He hasn’t answered my calls lately. How am I supposed to know?"
She nodded several times and added, "I hope the baby survives the first trimester. You know how fragile a baby is at that stage."
Ferro didn’t reply. A slight frown appeared on his face as her words hit their mark.
Seeing him utterly speechless, she leaned back slightly and suggested, "If you’re worried, just call Camela or her mother, Rosalba."
Ferro shook his head immediately. "Why should I contact them? If it weren’t for my grandchild, I wouldn’t have accepted that girl, Camela."
Even though Dolan was no longer an enemy who threatened them, he still didn’t like them.
And she pressed further. "What if we go to Mistvale and visit them?"
Ferro’s eyes met hers as he thought for a moment before nodding.
"Okay... but, there’s no need for both of us to go. You can go on your own. I know he won’t like it. Just visit for a day. Don’t stay too long."
Kiera cheered silently. At last, Ferro had given his permission to interfere.
"Alright, I’ll pay them a visit."
After leaving the mansion, she chose not to go to Mistvale. Instead, she ordered her investigator to lure one of the former maids and bring her to Ashvale.
After several days, Kiera returned with one of Dante’s former maids.
Ferro was in his study when the butler announced her arrival, and she entered with heavy emotions written all over her face. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"Well, did you manage to visit them?" he asked, lifting his gaze to her.
Kiera sighed. "I didn’t find him at all. The mansion they used to live in was completely empty. Fortunately, I managed to track down a former maid."
She pressed a hand to her chest, her expression troubled. "I was worried this news might upset you, but you had to know eventually."
"What is it?" he asked, his voice edged with impatience as he sensed something unpleasant.
"It would be better if the maid explained it herself," Kiera suggested.
At his signal, the maid was summoned into the study.
"Tell us everything. Don’t miss a single detail, and don’t ever try to lie. You know the consequences," Ferro warned, lifting a stern finger.
The maid nodded as she swallowed hard.
"There was a day when sir suddenly ordered Madam Camela to pack her things and return to Ashvale. She lost her temper, and they started arguing about a doctor."
Kiera, who had been slouched on the sofa, straightened at once.
"A doctor?" she asked sharply, puzzled why a doctor would be involved.
Then she asked again, "You mean another woman?"
"Yes, she is Dr. Ashford. She came every day for the prenatal checkups. Madam suspected she was sir’s mistress."
Ferro laughed it off, but Kiera’s expression darkened. A plain doctor, smelling of antiseptic and medicine, had caught Dante’s attention.
Yet none of the seductive women she had selected had ever done the same.
Ferro waved a dismissive hand. "That’s not an issue. Couples fight all the time."
He turned his attention back to Kiera. "You’re making it sound like a bigger deal than it is."
Kiera clenched her teeth. She should have questioned the maid more thoroughly before deciding to rush here. Now, she silently admitted her own foolishness.
But whatever it was, she adjusted her expression and smiled as she spoke. "Oh, yes. You’re right. It’s not a big deal. So where is Camela now?"
The maid shook her head. "I don’t know anything after I left."
Kiera grunted softly, but Ferro heard.
"Kiera." Ferro called her name sternly, and even the maid flinched at his expression.
"Yes," she replied, swallowing as she dipped her head.
"If there’s no issue with them, don’t create one. Don’t go looking for trouble. Do you understand?"
"Yes." Kiera gripped her clothes tightly.
"If there’s nothing else, leave." Ferro dismissed both of them.
Kiera withdrew from the study at once, frustrated. She had failed today.
She drove the maid to a nearby café, selecting a quiet corner where they sat across from each other.
"I want you to do something for me. Find that doctor and send me her photos. Don’t worry about the payment."
She placed a thick stack of cash on the table. The maid’s eyes widened with greed.
"And find Camela. I want to know exactly where she’s living. This is your advance. You’ll get the rest when the job is done."
She leaned forward slightly and lowered her voice. "This stays between us. No one else must know."
The maid nodded and agreed. After that, Kiera sent the maid back to Mistvale.
