The Tycoon's Gutsy Wife-Chapter 12: Punch
Right when he was about to capture her lips, she drove her heels right into his groin and he roared in pain.
Theodore groaned when it felt like his balls were about to burst right from the impact.
The pain was excruciating, making it impossible to hold back on his scream, so he let it all out.
He stumbled back, trying to contain his balls in his hands as he kneeled.
Adeline didn’t waste a single moment and bolted out of there.
Thankfully, they were far away from the main event so no one heard Theodore when he yelled.
Meanwhile, the entire time, Darien was speaking to the leader of the Solvaena family, his son standing dangerously close to his father as if Darien was a snake that was going to bite him if he made a single move.
"Please pardon my manners. I made inquiries with my assistant and he informed me that the Hawthorne family wasn’t invited." The Solvaena family leader was a man in his fifties with long white beard and a bald head. "Immediately, I asked him to send an invite. So the last-minute invite wasn’t completely intentional. Please forgive us," he said with the kind of laugh that looked forced, yet his long white beard shook like an earthquake while his eyes crinkled as if he enjoyed Darien’s presence at his company’s anniversary.
Darien merely gave the man a look while a side of his lips perked up.
Mr. Solvaena used to be a friend of his father, more like a business partner. After his father’s death, the man barely spoke with Darien ever again.
The older man still kept in contact with his uncle, making him suspect that the two of them were partners in crime or some sort.
"Please don’t be offended at all," the older man said.
"I’m not offended at all. I understand that you’re old now, and can barely remember things now," Darien said as he twirled his red wine, while he watched the smile on Mr. Solvaena’s lips completely disappear. "What matters is that I’m here."
The older man tried to force back the smile to his lips and it took great effort before he was able to do so.
"I heard that your company is getting bashed for a scandal. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but it says you’ve been using the wrong materials, the complete opposite of what your clients signed up for their projects," said Darien.
The smile the older man was trying to build up instantly flopped to his chin while Darien grinned.
The son standing beside his father wasn’t happy about this.
That was information they’d tried to cover up after paying a huge sum of money to their client so no word would get out that they’d been using the wrong materials but somehow, Darien still managed to find out.
"You’re probably wondering how I found out about this," said Darien as if he read their mind. "You don’t have to worry about that. I promise I won’t say a word." Then he turned to leave while the father and son glared daggers into his back.
Darien had no intention of coming to this party. In fact, being here felt like an insult to him.
Everyone was looking at him, staring like a hawk waiting for their prey to fumble so they could prey on him.
Their fake smiles when they spoke to him came with a benefit, every single time. After his father and grandfather’s death, he’d come to realize that the world that’d been painted for him was false.
Everyone was out to get you, and if you thought they weren’t watching, waiting for the perfect time to strike, you were solely mistaken.
Darien was fed up now, wishing to leave but there were no signs of Adeline anywhere.
He scanned around, recalling she’d left with her husband earlier.
He didn’t want to intervene, but something nicked at him. Ignoring every other person who wanted to have a word with him, he went in the direction the couple had disappeared into.
He suddenly heard a man’s voice yelling which made him hasten his steps.
And then all of a sudden, a woman bumped into his chest. It was Adeline.
She looked up at him with tears in her eyes, her body trembling from what seemed to be fear.
Her lips parted, wishing to speak but something withheld her, stopped her.
Something in Darien immediately snapped as he tore his gaze from her to look at Theodore who stormed like he had two left legs.
"Adeline, come back here," he demanded, rage evident in his gaze while his saliva flew everywhere. Theodore saw Darien, and his rage only intensified. "Don’t touch my wife!" He intended to take Darien’s hands off of Adeline but a single push from the latter sent him falling to the ground. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Theodore fell with his butt hitting the floor hard.
Adeline stared with fear evident in her gaze.
She’d never seen Theodore being so violent before. Yes, she’d seen him do it to Lina back at her grandfather’s mansion, but...she didn’t think he would be a psychopathic person.
"How dare you touch my wife?" Theodore roared as he intended to stand up from the ground, but a single kick from Darien sent him falling flat to the ground.
This made Theodore feel even more enraged.
"You call her your wife but from the looks of it," Darien glanced between the couple. "You don’t know how to treat her well at all."
Theodore wanted to curse, but Darien’s hands instantly went to his chin, punching it hard with all of his strength.
"I told you earlier, she’s my plus one. As long as we’re both at this party, she is my plus one," he stated, a grin stretching on his lips. "It’s only when we leave here that you can call her your wife." With that, Darien landed a deserving punch on Theodore’s face which immediately knocked the man out of consciousness.
