Could it be Wang Qingyi? Good god, she was quick with her moves. Not only did she set her up at work within a few days, but she also had people come over to teach her a lesson.
What audacity!
Su Qingtong rolled up her sleeves, putting her hands on her hips and lifting her chin defiantly, “You guys wouldn’t happen to be the thugs Wang Qingyi sent, would you? Come on, let me show you what kung fu really is.”
Silence fell upon the crowd.
Zhu Dafu’s jaw nearly hit the floor, itching to throw this oblivious woman aside. What Wang Qingyi’s thugs? Couldn’t she see she was spouting nonsense?
“Where is she?”
...
A man’s voice suddenly broke the quiet of the corridor, deep and slow, as chilling as if dipped in snow water. Su Qingtong had already noticed the man standing front and center.
His tall and straight figure, broad shoulders, and long legs, dressed in a black suit and white shirt, he stood like a pine or bamboo among the crowd, drawing the eye without a word or gesture, compelling onlookers to fix their gaze upon him.
Su Qingtong was stunned at first glance, astonished at the second. This man was extraordinary. She couldn’t help but scrutinize him more closely; a face so handsomely flawless, the top two buttons of his shirt undone revealing a collarbone that should have been enchanting but instead exuded a piercing cold.
He seemed like a god on a high pedestal, looking down upon the world.
“What ‘she’? I don’t know what you’re talking about?” Su Qingtong feigned ignorance.
Long Qi didn’t waste words, he simply reached out and firmly pushed Su Qingtong aside, pinning her against the wall before she could react.
“Don’t move, or I can’t guarantee you won’t be hurt,” Long Qi warned, his face stern as he held her down with one hand.
Ah, the bodyguard was quite arrogant.
Su Qingtong, unyielding, tried to kick him in the groin but failed. Long Qi quickly spun her around, her face against the wall, her limbs immobilized.
“Let go of me!”
“In broad daylight, I’ll call the police!”
“You hit a woman, what kind of man are you!”
Long Qi ignored her, if it weren’t for Third Young Master’s silence, he would have already silenced this noisy woman, a slap would suffice.
Such a group of graceless brutes!
Su Qingtong guessed that the man restraining her belonged to the man looking for Ah Da, wealthy and powerful. It seemed he was the buyer of the incense burner as well as the man Ah Da mentioned, Qin Yu.
Ah Da, this “benefactor,” was not someone to mess with.
Su Qingtong sighed. Ah Da, you better take care of yourself. Unable to use Spiritual Power at will, she was helpless.
Everyone in the corridor fell silent, holding their breath.
Qin Yu took two steps forward and coldly said to the door, “Why hide? Aren’t you coming out?”
Soon enough, a voice came from the room, soft and weak as if just waking up, “Qin Yu? Is it you?”
Everyone was simultaneously shocked, heads bowed, but ears perked up, unable to curb their curiosity about the woman who the Third Young Master personally came to apprehend.
Noticing the offness in Ah Da’s voice, Qin Yu stepped into the room. Tang Bufan also wanted to follow but was stopped by a stern look from Qin Yu.
No need to look then, why so fierce? Tang Bufan muttered in his mind.
Inside the room, on a massive 2.8-meter-wide bed, Ah Da wrapped herself in the bedding, struggling to sit up. Raising her eyes, she saw a towering man standing by the bed, his dark gaze like a deep abyss, chillingly cold, quietly staring at her.
Ah Da’s eyes suddenly trembled, and her green-white fingers slightly tightened, pulling the quilt over her face.
It was unclear whether it was due to embarrassment or the man’s stern expression, which grew darker as if a storm was brewing. Ah Da’s heart skipped a beat, her heart reaching her throat.
“I…I’m not wearing any clothes…”
The young girl’s large eyes, her eyelashes trembling like fluttering moths, and her rosy lips slightly clenched. After meeting his gaze, she quickly lowered her head, looking both aggrieved and afraid, very timid as if about to cry at any moment.
Qin Yu’s expression was stern, his thin lips pressed into a straight line.
The girl on the bed was about seventeen or eighteen years old, with a delicate small face, cherry lips, and aquiline nose, and her large round eyes were watery as if containing an entire ocean.
Fragile, naive, crystal clear; so pure, untouched by any hint of the mundane.
Her seaweed-like black hair was casually and messily spread behind and beside her, fluffy as clouds, making her exposed neck and collarbone alarmingly pale.
As if pricked, Qin Yu averted his gaze and asked, “What happened?”
Ah Da interlaced her fingers as she hurriedly explained, “Because my body suddenly got bigger and smaller unpredictably, Bronze Sword helped me check it, and then… it turned out like this.”
Qin Yu said indifferently, “So, the person outside is the Bronze Sword you spoke of before? She is the reason you ran out?”
Ah Da furrowed her brows, straightened her body as if trying to muster some presence. However, her voice was sweet and soft, a bit unclear as she spoke too fast, entirely lacking strength.
“She is my friend. Her original form is a Bronze Sword from the Warring States period. She is very powerful. It is thanks to her that I can recover now.”
As she spoke, she raised her arm to show him the results. Her arms were fair and not inconsistent in size as they were in the morning.
Shortly before, Su Qingtong had placed her on the bed and asked her to close her eyes. Ah Da then felt a chilling cold current enter from her forehead, tearing through her chaotic Spiritual Sea like splitting bamboo.
A stabbing pain emanated from the depths of her head, spreading rapidly throughout her body, as if thousands of tiny, silk-like needles penetrated every bit of her flesh and marrow. Ah Da was in so much pain that she couldn’t breathe.
She remembered the admonitions of Bronze Sword, closed her eyes, didn’t resist. Thus, she gritted her teeth and endured until she couldn’t bear it any longer and gradually lost consciousness.
Upon waking, she discovered that her body had returned to normal. However, her dress had, unfortunately, been sacrificed again, and she hadn’t had the chance to tidy up when she heard Qin Yu’s voice outside the door.
He still had a stern expression while coldly asking why she hadn’t come out, his tone harsh and fierce.
Thinking of this, Ah Da could not help feeling aggrieved and angry. She looked up only to see the man’s distinctly jointed hand reaching out, slowly approaching the side of her face, the pads of his fingers slightly calloused, his touch very gentle.
“Why is your face so pale?” he asked in a low voice.
The anger that had just risen in Ah Da was instantly extinguished by his words, leaving only a sour bitterness. She could smell his cold fragrance, which made her want to lean on him.
“It hurt so much earlier that I fell asleep, so it wasn’t intentional that I didn’t go out. I just woke up.”
The young girl earnestly explained.
Qin Yu squinted, his fingertips tracing her lips, his eyes dark and focused, inscrutable.
He asked, “What about now?”
“It…it doesn’t hurt anymore.” Ah Da shook her head, not sure if it was an illusion, but Qin Yu didn’t seem fierce at all at that moment and was even somewhat tender, making one want to draw closer.
The girl tilted her head slightly, her tender face brushing lightly against the palm of his hand, like a kitten pleading to be cuddled, the touch unbelievably silky as if melting under his touch.
Qin Yu’s eyes were dark and turbulent with indiscernible emotions.
He didn’t withdraw his hand, instead, he stood by the bed allowing her movements as he realized that Ah Da’s condition was somewhat similar to the symptoms she had shown the last time after drinking his blood.
