the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart-Chapter 940: Richard Shaw Seeks to Reverse the Verdict
Delphine was momentarily stunned, and asked in surprise, "Richard Shaw? That’s impossible."
The Shaw Family’s military merits are such that even if they committed a major offense, Richard Shaw would be untouchable.
Nathan Leclair had just heard the news, but very soon, this news would likely spread across the country.
"Richard Shaw wants to overturn a case from more than twenty years ago. Since it involves a confidential matter, the specifics are still unclear," Nathan Leclair said briefly.
Delphine’s mind went blank, instinctively thinking of Leah. What exactly does Richard Shaw want to do?
As they spoke, Ignatius Leclair walked out from the side hall, standing in the corridor, and said steadily, "Ayong, has the news reached the South Seas?"
"Does big brother know too?" Nathan Leclair was somewhat surprised. This Mr. Shaw really dared to act, risking generations of the Shaw Family’s honor for a single misstep. It was said that he did it for a woman, quite the rare romantic.
Ignatius Leclair nodded. This matter was something Richard Shaw personally informed him about, which was why he hurried back from the United Kingdom yesterday. However, he hadn’t expected the situation to escalate so quickly; the Imperial City is a frightfully deep pool.
"Is it about Leah?" Delphine anxiously grabbed his arm and asked urgently.
Ignatius Leclair nodded, softly saying, "This matter, old Shaw is setting himself on fire. One wrong move, and his future is ruined, so I need to lend him a hand."
If it were him, he would do the same; not clearing the Cox Family’s name would mean the Squire siblings couldn’t let go of the past grievances, unable to resolve their knots. Old Shaw and Leah Squire would never be possible.
Delphine looked at him, firmly saying, "We should, this matter is related to me too. I’ll go to the Imperial City with you."
Ignatius Leclair held her hand, his phoenix eyes deep, and said calmly, "Go to Brocade City, the only ones who can save old Shaw are the Squire siblings. I have to see Griffith Squire."
Everyone dispersed after having dinner at the Leclair residence, each returning to their homes.
Returning in the evening, with the trip to Brocade City in mind, they went to bed earlier than usual; Delphine was preoccupied with Leah’s situation, tossing and turning in her sleep.
Ignatius Leclair noticed her restlessness, holding her in his arms, his chin rubbing against her cheek, and said hoarsely, "Can’t sleep?"
Delphine found his chin tickling, and laughed softly, "Thinking about Leah."
"Better off thinking about me," the man had intended to let her go tonight, but seeing her still having the energy to think about Leah Squire, his phoenix eyes darkened slightly, and he said lowly, "We were interrupted this morning, shall we try again?"
Delphine had always been reserved, finding it hard to let go. Even after their relationship heated up, there wasn’t much change. Ignatius Leclair often considered her, feeling less satisfied than before, trying daily to get her accustomed.
Unfortunately, with little result, the man sometimes found a bit of shyness quite charming. Well, it’s all good, as long as it’s her.
Delphine rolled her eyes at him, turning over to continue sleeping, but the man’s strong, slender fingers had already threaded through her hair.
She suddenly widened her eyes, Ignatius Leclair was already tense all over, his voice rough to the point of being unrecognizable, and he restrainedly said, "Don’t move, madam."
Delphine didn’t wake up until noon the next day, waking up sore all over, while Ignatius Leclair was attentively preparing lunch.
Delphine chuckled to herself; he should sleep in the study from now on.
