the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart-Chapter 916: One More Kiss
Delphine reached out, touching the man’s gaunt face, tracing from his prominent nose down to his thin lips. Her eyes misted as she softly said, "They say I’m now worth billions, so I can’t marry an old man who’s blind and has constant headaches. Let’s talk about marriage once you’ve cured your headaches."
The man’s thin lips curled into a heavy smile, "I shouldn’t have left you so many assets. If this old man dies on the operating table, you can quickly find plenty of handsome young men."
Delphine’s heart jumped at his blatant words. She immediately covered his mouth with her hand and angrily said, "Don’t talk nonsense." Before she finished speaking, she felt his thin lips brush against her palm.
Delphine’s palm tingled, and she quickly withdrew her hand, feeling her face flush slightly. She pushed him and said, "Let’s hurry back. Nicholas must be worried sick."
Ignatius Leclair nodded, reached out to help her up, held her protectively in his arms, then grabbed the leash and called the guide dog to lead them back.
Seeing him like this, Delphine didn’t mention her offer to guide him. Watching the man steadily follow the guide dog’s lead down the mountain, her anxious heart finally relaxed.
Delphine returned to the villa while Ignatius Leclair showered and changed clothes, she began cooking porridge, then called Arthur White to arrange for a plane to pick them up the next day.
After hanging up, she realized they hadn’t discussed the main topic all morning.
Ignatius Leclair didn’t talk about having surgery, and she didn’t mention why she planned to leave with Nicholas.
She was willing to give up her freedom for him, and he didn’t ask her to explain. It seemed that just calling each other’s name, holding hands once, and exchanging glances was enough to be together. Nothing else needed to be said.
Arthur White in London was still unaware of what was happening here. Only Nicholas was the happiest, but he wasn’t one to gossip. Happy as he was, he didn’t say much, just buried his head in work.
"No need to go to the town for supplies today. I called Arthur White to get us back to London tomorrow." Delphine called out to Nicholas. "Go pack up our things, so we won’t be rushed when it’s time to leave."
"Is Ignatius really willing to go?" Nicholas asked, overjoyed.
Delphine nodded, feeling confident.
Nicholas quickly went to pack the luggage.
The man sat on the porch sofa, his face slightly sullen as he asked, "Did I say I was going?"
Just remembering last night’s situation made Delphine anxious. She didn’t want to delay a minute and seeing his gloomy expression, she walked over and tugged at his hand, saying, "I can’t eat well or sleep well here, and it makes me anxious."
Mr. Leclair’s masculine arrogance was evident as he frowned upon hearing this, leaving him speechless.
He reached out to hold her small, pale hand, gently stroking a thin callus on her palm, feeling a bit distressed as he nodded and said in a low voice, "Then let’s go back."
Right now, he couldn’t take care of her. Delphine had to cook, do laundry, and look after him while staying here. Ignatius Leclair realized he’d be better off bringing a servant than Nicholas.
Nicholas, who was tough, agile, and able to hide, was suddenly unwanted.
Seeing him nod in agreement, Delphine brightened with joy and instinctively pecked him on the cheek.
The man trembled all over, firmly pulling her hand to his side, gazing in her direction with deep phoenix eyes. His Adam’s apple bobbed, and his voice was unexpectedly low: "Kiss me again."
