the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart-Chapter 888: Tonight, I Want to Drink Until I Drop
Nathan Leclair came to the Leclair Residence for dinner tonight, someone used to living wildly from a young age. When he saw the old man letting the chef prepare dinner, he quickly stopped him, laughed and said, "Tonight I’m taking Benjamin out for barbecue. I’ve already had someone bring the grill, it’s summer after all, so we’ll eat in the yard and have some fun."
Sure enough, Nathan Leclair had four barbecue grills brought into the yard, along with a big box of barbecue food and beer—all typical roadside snacks.
The old man, having eaten everything his whole life, was used to refined food. Seeing Nathan Leclair fuss with this self-serve style of eating, he was quite interested, but said, "With all these stoves and fire, what if Benjamin gets burned?"
"Benjamin is clever enough, he won’t get burned." Nathan Leclair thought of shrewd and sharp Benjamin Leclair and couldn’t help but laugh. This little guy was so crafty, with a big brother who taught him well from childhood, how could he suffer a loss?
Ignatius Leclair came over holding the little guy and indeed saw several barbecue grills set up in the yard. Nathan Leclair saw him return, slapped his leg happily, and exclaimed, "Grandfather, big brother is back. We’re ready to start eating!"
The old man had someone turn on all the lights in the yard and lit some mosquito-repelling incense to prevent Benjamin from getting bitten, then sat at the table in the yard, waiting for Nathan Leclair to tinker with the grills.
Both the old butler and Mrs. Lee came to help. In no time, laughter and cheerful voices filled the air, and regardless of being a butler or a servant, everyone made a table and started eating barbecue.
The fun lasted for a full hour before everyone ate their fill and dispersed.
Mrs. Lee took Benjamin Leclair to bathe and sleep, and the old man also went off to watch TV.
The yard was left with just the two brothers, drinking unfinished beer, looking at the night, talking.
"Big brother, will you resent me?" Nathan Leclair gulped down a mouthful of beer. He came today to speak openly with Ignatius Leclair. These things he’s done, he can’t hide them from anybody, especially Ignatius—it’s ultimately too rebellious.
Ignatius Leclair rarely drinks beer, but tonight he wants to have his fill.
"Are you talking about working for the Imperial City or keeping secrets from grandfather, tarnishing the century-old reputation of the Leclair Family?" Ignatius Leclair spoke indifferently, his eyes less lively than the cold stars in the sky.
Nathan Leclair’s heart trembled; big brother really knows everything.
"I’ve traveled for several years now, seeing many scenes that most people can’t imagine in a lifetime." Nathan Leclair smiled somewhat self-mockingly, "I was born into an esteemed family, even if I left the South Seas, the assets of the second family are enough to squander for several lifetimes. Going to America, I could squeeze into high society, but facing this world, I often feel as small as a child. After wandering around for over a decade, I finally know the path I want to take."
A bright glow flashed in Nathan Leclair’s eyes, growing more excited as he spoke: "My actions now bring shame to the Leclair Family, but what about in a hundred, two hundred years from now? The South Seas occupy the best geographical position, yet these years, families have done nothing but infighting, corruption, squandering, like termites gnawing at the land, holding maritime rights only to pursue personal gain. I want to do something different, even if I end up battered and bloodied, I’ll be willing."
Ignatius Leclair showed a slight smile, reached out and patted his shoulder, spoke in a low voice: "You’ve grown up, have your own ideals. Actually, grandfather knows what you’re doing, he just can’t say or do anything. After all, it’s a family with a legacy of hundreds of years, even if you want to make a move, you have to wait a bit, understand?"
