The True Heiress is the Reserved Fiancé's Exclusive Memory-Chapter 617 - 631: Koa’s Proposal (7)
Mia Ginger was lost in her thoughts when suddenly there came two "thump, thump, thump" knocks on the door from outside. Aunt Lee’s gentle voice called out, "Koa?"
Koa Jackson was startled for a moment, steadied his breathing, and responded in a calm voice, "I’m here."
"You can come eat now," Aunt Lee said from outside.
"Coming," Koa Jackson agreed briefly, though his voice carried a lazy, husky sexiness.
Quiet returned outside the door, and Mia Ginger breathed a sigh of relief, smiling as she looked at Koa Jackson.
Koa’s long fingers pressed against her lips, and after a moment, he murmured with a corner of his mouth curved, "Are you sure you don’t want to? Not getting the certificate, hmm."
Mia Ginger: "..."
She raised her hand into a fist and gave Koa Jackson a hard punch.
Koa Jackson let her hit him, and after a moment, he grabbed her little fist, "Getting it?"
"Can’t you just sweet-talk me a bit?" Mia Ginger pouted.
"Hmm, good girl." Koa Jackson raised his hand to stroke her head, laughing softly.
Mia Ginger pursed her lips, "There’s no sincerity at all."
Koa Jackson’s thin lips moved close to her ear, "Little thing, I really want to take out my heart and show it to you."
Mia Ginger’s face suddenly turned red, mumbling, "Then how about tomorrow afternoon, Monday? You definitely have to work in the morning."
"Okay," Koa Jackson replied.
Back and forth, the two agreed to get the marriage certificate at three o’clock tomorrow afternoon.
——
They went out to eat.
Soon, it was eight o’clock at night.
Mia Ginger didn’t let Koa Jackson take her home. She walked back slowly with the Chancellor.
While walking, she recalled the events of the afternoon.
Her head was still a bit dizzy, her thoughts muddled.
The matter of studying abroad, neither of them mentioned it again after leaving Cooper Manor, so much so that they hadn’t actually talked about it all afternoon. She didn’t know what Koa Jackson thought, but intuition told her that Koa Jackson agreed with Aurora Cooper and Aiden Jiang’s idea.
She actually agreed too.
It’s just—
She really couldn’t bear to part with Koa Jackson.
And—
This heartache came inexplicably.
She felt that no one else in the world could make her heart flutter like this.
Just like Koa Jackson said, "The rate at which her heart beats, no man other than him could give."
So, agreeing to the certificate was not wrong, she loved him.
But—
As soon as she left him, she felt sad and empty, the frustration brought by lost memories would always invade, and Koa Jackson’s presence seemed to linger at her nose, long-lasting and persistent, as she kept thinking about it, the more she thought, the more she missed Koa Jackson.
Mia Ginger stopped in her tracks, turned around to look behind her, and stared blankly for a long time.
She just felt that Koa Jackson was like opium, she uncontrollably drew closer to him, the more she had, the more she wanted, possibly very easily, she might lose control.
She surely loved him very much in the past too, Mia Ginger thought.
Loved to the point of troubling herself, loved till it was painful and tangled, so much so that now those memories wouldn’t return.
What was she in pain about before?
Mia Ginger couldn’t understand, carrying this question heavily back to Cooper Manor.
Aurora and the others had already had dinner as well, and Bob Ginger and Margot were both absent. However, Bradley Cooper had shown up at some point in the living room.
"Mom, Uncle," Mia Ginger approached, smiling as she greeted them both.
Aurora was just about to scold her for not coming back for dinner, but when she lifted her gaze and saw Mia’s absent-minded look, she was taken aback for a moment, and asked, "What’s the matter?"
