The True Heiress is the Reserved Fiancé's Exclusive Memory-Chapter 596 - 608: Next Family Head (1)
March 25th.
Spring rain drizzles.
The memorial service for Cesar Myres, Ivy Cox, and her son Lukas Myres is held at the Benevolent Treasure Funeral Home in Cloud Capital.
At ten in the morning, Mia Ginger and Koa Jackson arrive outside with Maeve.
After parking the car, they stay outside for a while.
Mia looks outside from the car, purses her lips, and says, "There are quite a lot of people."
"It’s the funeral of the Myres Family Head; of course, there would be many people," Koa says in a calm voice, also looking outside from the car.
"There’s still no news from Louis Cox," Mia says worriedly. "Do you think he’ll show up later? He hasn’t even called these past few days."
It’s already been five days since their rushed goodbye at the hospital.
Mia glances at Maeve beside her, feeling uneasy.
"He should appear," Koa says softly after thinking for a moment. "If he wants to and can appear, today is the most likely. Didn’t you say? It was Odin Myres whom he picked up."
"I’m actually not sure," Mia says hesitantly. "Maybe he just wanted to ease my worries."
"..."
Koa remains silent for a while, about to speak, when his phone suddenly rings.
It’s Denver Petal.
He answers directly, saying "Hello."
"Have you arrived?" Denver asks directly over the phone.
"Yes, we are at the parking lot outside."
"Alright, I’m almost there."
"Okay."
After a brief exchange, Koa hangs up the phone.
The Myres’ situation is too complicated. Cesar Myres had four siblings and, being the eldest among them, became the Family Head. After he took on the role, there were already five women in the Myres Mansion, not to mention more than ten children. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Currently, at least three or four have a hand in the group’s affairs.
With Cesar’s death, the division of assets naturally becomes a major issue.
But—
Maeve is the legally recognized primary heir, at least for now.
Since Louis has not shown up and has entrusted her to Mia, Mia naturally wishes to secure her legal rights.
Therefore—
They specially invited Denver Petal to assess the situation.
Additionally, they invited Ivy Cox’s sister, who married and moved away to a distant place, Maeve’s aunt, who traveled overnight to get here.
After the call, the three of them waited in the car for a few more minutes until Denver arrived.
Maeve’s aunt, who had a long journey, had not yet arrived.
However, the funeral was about to begin.
Mia, holding Maeve’s hand, gets out of the car, and seeing the bodyguards standing outside the funeral home, she can’t help but worry, saying to Koa, "With so many people, even if Louis shows up, he might not be able to get in."
"Without preparation, how would he possibly come?" Koa glances at her, bends to pick up Maeve, and says to Denver, "Let’s go in first."
"Alright," Denver nods, his demeanor slightly nonchalant.
The four of them proceed to the outside of the funeral home.
The bodyguards outside the door glance at Maeve and naturally exchange looks.
A bodyguard standing on the edge stops them directly, saying in a firm tone, "Sorry, you can’t go in."
"Interesting," Denver raises an eyebrow and sneers. "The Myres? How come you don’t recognize your own Myres young lady now?"
The bodyguard maintains his arm-raised blocking posture, unmoved.
With the Family Head and his wife dead, the most powerful person in the house now is undoubtedly the former lady, Reagon Sutton.
Maeve, this little girl, is like a stray dog, with no trace of the wealthy status she once held.
The bodyguards don’t even bother to take notice of her.
