The Trending Topic Herself: The Villainess is the Superstar!-Chapter 248: The Tour Guide Muddying the Waters
[Crispy: It seems like they’re getting a bit too chummy (dog face)]
[Little Melon: The person above is way too sensitive, right? It’s just a conversation. Can you accuse someone of being manipulative just based on that?]
[Green Lawn: Everyone who knows Kiki knows she’s famous for being sweet and polite. She just casually called someone "big brother." Our Kiki isn’t that old, so why take it so seriously? Just saying a word makes her manipulative?]
[Crispy: The issue isn’t the word "big brother," it’s just that when combined with Kiki Monroe’s expression, it seems a bit... (dog face)]
...
Maya Monroe had already looked away.
It seemed this journey wouldn’t be too simple, nor too dull.
Perhaps Kiki could even help spice up the storyline.
Thinking this, she twisted open a bottle of the show’s sponsor drink and took a sip.
It was plum-flavored, sweet with a hint of sourness, quite tasty, though not as good as freshly squeezed juice.
Maya Monroe put down the drink and rubbed her temples in frustration, only realizing how far-fetched her thoughts had strayed.
"Maya, I’ve heard you’ve been busy filming a drama lately, has it been going well?"
The voice was slightly cold, carrying a youthful gentleness.
Maya snapped back to the present and flashed Miles Wallace a smile: "It’s going well, progressing pretty quickly, so the wrap shouldn’t be too far off."
Through these episodes, Maya discovered that Miles wasn’t as cold as he seemed at first glance; he often chatted with her.
Overall, he seemed to be a bit of a slow-burn type.
Miles nodded thoughtfully: "That sounds good."
Maya wasn’t really interested in the tour guide’s lengthy insights, so she chatted a bit more with Miles.
"I heard from Julian you guys have a nationwide tour coming up, will you be busy?"
"Julian?" His expression changed slightly.
Maya looked at him, puzzled: "Is there a problem?"
"No problem." His face returned to normal, although his tone was somewhat absent-minded: "Indeed, there’s such a plan, scheduled for early May."
Maya nodded upon hearing this: "Then the show will be over by then, and you can have more time for your music career."
She knew that Miles joined the show due to company arrangements, almost forcefully. He had no interest in variety shows; he loved singing and playing instruments the most.
Miles responded grumpily, lacking the enthusiasm she expected.
Miles hesitated: "...Do you and Julian get along well?" 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Maya looked at him, baffled: "We’re on the same set, so we often meet."
"Oh..." Miles responded, then fell silent.
"...Our Guest Four and Guest Five seem to be having a good chat. So, how’s the drink, dear Guest Four?"
The tour guide often referred to guests by their initial numbers: Maya was Guest Four, and Miles was Guest Five.
Feeling the guide’s gaze, Maya felt as if she’d been caught chatting in class.
She slowly raised her drink: "It tastes really good; you should try it too."
The tour guide raised his own drink with a smile, toasting Maya from a distance, and skillfully recited an ad slogan: "Our Snowy Fruit Water..."
Kiki Monroe unconsciously furrowed her brows and asked Justin Morgan beside her: "Does Maya get along so well with everyone around?"
Justin’s eyes lit up when Kiki initiated a question but lowered his voice, thinking of something: "Well... Maya has quite the knack on this show. Not only Jamie and that cold guy, even the always boastful Jessica Young shows her unexpected respect."
Justin’s voice was so faint it was like an insect’s wail, making Kiki lean in closer.
From Justin’s suddenly hushed tone, Kiki naturally understood that he feared Maya. Even if not fear, at least some wariness.
Considering all that Justin said, Kiki already had her own calculation in mind, smiling discreetly, still adorably: "Thank you, Justin."
"Why just call me by my name all of a sudden..."
Suddenly, the tour guide’s voice interrupted, cutting off Justin’s words.
"Let’s toast to commemorate our upcoming journey in the next episode together!"
All the guests stood up and raised the drinks in front of them.
Justin had to stand up too, suppressing his discontent.
He consoled himself, although she used his name, at least the word "brother" was still in there, making it sound pleasing.
"Let’s toast together for the last leg of our journey!" Jamie led the cheer, and the others joined in.
"The reminiscing is over, now please pack all your things, as we’re off to our destination—"
With the guide’s cue, Maya quickly shouldered her backpack.
Miles Wallace picked up his silver-gray suitcase and asked, "Do you need help with your luggage, Maya?"
"No, no," Maya waved her hand in refusal: "I only have this backpack, I can manage it myself."
Following the guide to the boarding point, Maya squinted a bit.
Not a plane, but a bus instead.
Other guests arrived one after another.
Some guests raised questions, Jamie Miller asked: "Why are we taking a bus this time?"
The guide was holding a sunshade, with a black handle, the canopy was bright and floral, strangely yet harmoniously blending with his attire.
His movements seemed soft and lacking strength, the sunshade tilted at a slight angle.
Upon hearing this, he chuckled: "You’re probably tired of flying, right? It’s nice to try something different occasionally."
Jessica Young chimed in: "We usually fly to remote places, so this time taking a bus... does it mean the destination is closer? At least closer than before?" Her eyes suddenly brightened: "Does that mean this time the task difficulty will be lower?"
Jamie also agreed: "Analyzing it that way... it does seem to be the case."
The guide’s expression remained unchanged, his thick lashes blinking twice: "Taking a bus doesn’t necessarily mean the destination is close, and closeness doesn’t necessarily imply low difficulty. Keep your questions to yourself, you’ll understand everything upon arrival."
His words seemed like nonsense, and Jessica didn’t know how to counter.
[Be Happy Every Day: Shout out to the program team, so damn sneaky!!]
[Maca Paca: The program team is sneaky!!]
[Big Smartie: The tour guide’s words are a mix of truth and lies, it’s tough to get information out of him sometimes.]
[Smile: Agree with the above!]
