Chapter 200: What an Unnerving Stare This Is... My Danger Bells Are Ringing

"Even if that kind of involvement were completely possible given your history and capabilities," the ogre replied in a composed tone, her dark eyes remaining steady as she closed them briefly in a gesture of thoughtful restraint before reopening them to meet Titania’s gaze directly, "I want to make it clear that I was not insinuating or implying anything of the sort in my words just now."

She paused again, letting the clarification hang for a second to diffuse any misunderstanding, before continuing with quiet certainty. "But you definitely have a hand in it somehow, do you not?"

Then she opened her eyes again, the dark depths of them fixing firmly on Titania’s violet ones with an intensity that refused to waver or soften.

"Tyta, listen to me carefully now; Elara... does not joke with that man, not even a little. Ever since her mother left her all those centuries ago, she has kept herself closed off from almost everyone around her, building invisible barriers so high and thick that few have ever managed to reach through them.

"She withdrew into herself and became distant, guarded, and emotionally unreachable... until he appeared in her life. That god-touched brought something back to her; a spark, perhaps, a reason to open up again, even if only a fraction. So please, let us allow her some respite from all this searching and worrying. She deserves at least that much peace, no?"

"Heeeee! What in the world is even going on here?!"

Titania suddenly shrieked, both small hands flying up to clutch dramatically at the sides of her head as though the very thought threatened to split her skull open.

Her twin silver braids whipped back and forth with the motion, and her rainbow-hued wings gave a sharp, agitated flutter that scattered faint prisms of light across the nearby cushions.

"You make me sound like the bad one! Why won’t you believe me when I say it?! I swear by every fairy in Fairylynch, I have absolutely nothing to do with the god-touched! And I’m definitely one-hundred-percent not hiding him anywhere here!"

"Ah, there she is! Tania, I’ve been looking everywhere for you."

The cheerful voice cut through the tension like sunlight breaking through vines.

Benjamin, still completely naked, with his skin still faintly flushed from his earlier exertions.

He strode into the hall with casual confidence, one hand raised in a friendly wave toward the group on the couches.

Isabelle walked close beside him, her fingers still laced tightly with his free hand, her green twin buns slightly tousled, and her cheeks carrying a lingering rose from the kiss that had transpired earlier.

Titania turned her neck slowly to the right, the motion almost mechanical, as though her body needed time to process the sudden arrival.

When her violet eyes finally settled on him, her expression smoothed into something unnaturally calm, and her small hands lowered from her head to rest primly in her lap.

"Benjamin, I love you," she said in a voice that was soft and eerily composed given the circumstances, "but right now I genuinely want to know; why did you choose this exact moment, of all possible times, to walk in here?"

Vaelora, who had been standing silently beside Titania’s couch with her usual air of unshakable professionalism, took one look at the nude man striding toward them and felt the world tilt dangerously in her head.

Her pink eyes widened fractionally, with her cheeks draining of color in an instant.

Her knees buckled for half a heartbeat before she caught herself.

And without a single word, she moved swiftly and gracefully, and utterly silent, crossing the short distance to Benjamin in a few gliding steps.

Her small hands rose, fingers weaving intricate patterns in the air as faint threads of dark, shimmering magic poured from her palms and wrapped around his lower body first.

The magic coalesced quickly into a pair of sleek, midnight-black trousers—soft yet structured, high-waisted with a subtle taper through the legs, the fabric appearing almost liquid in how it clung without restricting movement.

A simple drawstring of matte black cord cinched the waist for easy adjustment.

Almost immediately after, the same magic flowed upward, forming a casual long-sleeved grey shirt of fine, slightly textured knit.

The neckline featured a short stand collar with thin leather laces threaded through small eyelets, allowing the wearer to tighten or loosen it for comfort.

But it was currently left open just enough to reveal the hollow of his throat and a hint of collarbone.

The sleeves were relaxed, ending in subtle ribbed cuffs that sat neatly at his wrists;

The overall fit was effortless and modern, hugging his shoulders and chest without clinging too tightly, the grey shades a soft dark that complemented his fair skin and ice-blue eyes.

"Ahem!"

Titania cleared her throat delicately, forcing a bright, practiced smile as she turned back toward the ogre while Benjamin approached, now decently clothed thanks to Vaelora’s swift intervention.

"Sorry for the interruption just now. This is Benjamin Mark. I believe you already know him from the summit a few weeks ago."

"You truly believe you can play this entire situation off with nothing more than that simple little smile of yours?" The ogre raised one dark brow in slow, deliberate skepticism.

"Benjamin, this is the ogre princess of Goliathens, Dynamis," Titania continued smoothly, gesturing between them with one small hand while trying to keep her voice light. "Hm? Benjamin... what’s wrong?"

She trailed off, suddenly aware of the shift in his expression.

He was openly glaring, sternly, at the seated ogre princess, his blue eyes narrowed and unmoving.

Dynamis met the glare head-on, her own dark wild eyes calm but unflinching, returning the stare with quiet intensity that made the air between them feel suddenly thick and electric.

’What is this?’ Dynamis thought, her internal voice steady despite the unexpected hostility radiating from the man before her. ’He is suddenly showing me clear hostility. Does he feel threatened by my presence here? Perhaps he truly has come to fancy this place and does not want me reporting anything back to the Amazons or anyone else. Nevertheless... what an unnerving stare this is. My danger bells are ringing loud and clear.’

Meanwhile, inside Benjamin’s head was a lot less mature;

[Nggh! Dumb visitor getting in the way of my fun! You made me look like a complete idiot back there! Sitting there on that couch like you own the entire palace, legs crossed all smug—I should just walk over and hit her a little on the head, just once, to knock some sense into her!]
