Chapter 1151: Chapter 1120: Father’s Method of Education

Teacher Hua inside was unknown to Huo Ruifeng.

He Tiantian was at a parent-teacher meeting. Seeing Huo Yingjie come over, she asked curiously, "What brings you here?"

Huo Yingjie just smiled and said, "I’ll tell you when we get back."

He Tiantian didn’t ask further, since they were still in the middle of the parent-teacher meeting and it wasn’t suitable to be whispering down there.

After the parent-teacher meeting, He Tiantian and Huo Yingjie were just in time to pick up Huo Ruifeng along with their children.

Huo Ruifeng, with his little backpack, head down, was kicking pebbles on the ground.

Seeing dad and mom arrive, his little face lit up.

"Dad, mom, I’m here." Huo Ruifeng waved his little hand, took his parents’ hands, and left the school together.

Once in the car, Huo Ruifeng was so happy to see his brother and sister, but he felt uneasy. He thought deceiving his parents continuously was wrong, so he decided to confess, even if it meant getting a beating.

"Dad, mom, I made a mistake," Huo Ruifeng said softly, cautiously looking at his parents.

He Tiantian, surprised, though curious, calmly asked, "What mistake did you make?"

Huo Ruifeng shrunk his head and said, "I did two things wrong."

Hearing his son say this, Huo Yingjie felt relieved and quietly asked, "It’s good to admit your mistakes. What mistakes did you make? Have you corrected them?"

Seeing his dad praise instead of scold him, Huo Ruifeng boldly said, "First, I lied. Actually, today we had a parent-teacher meeting, but I said we didn’t. I lied to the teacher saying you were too busy to come; second, I didn’t want you to come because I was afraid the teacher would tell you that I played football at school and broke the classroom window."

Huo Ruifeng’s voice grew fainter.

"Is that all? Anything else?" Huo Yingjie asked, to see if his son could fully confess.

"Uh uh...." Huo Ruifeng decided to be candid since it was all out anyway.

He Tiantian was silently listening on the side, not interrupting.

"I shouldn’t have bet with others, claiming I’m really good at football, saying I could hit a specific window Da Huang pointed out," Huo Ruifeng said, "That’s the classroom, the windows are public property, I was wrong."

"Hmm," Huo Yingjie nodded, "Do you realize your mistake?"

"I do, I realize my mistake," Huo Ruifeng said, his head low, "I won’t do such dangerous things again."

Huo Yingjie nodded, "Good, dad and mom believe you. You are a man, your word matters, you can’t make such mistakes again."

He Tiantian had more to say, but Huo Yingjie gave her a look, telling her not to speak.

He Tiantian could only roll her eyes in resignation, alright then, no more talking.

Huo Ruihua and Huo Ruimin were also surprised, but they tried not to laugh.

"Since you like football, brother will play football with you when we get home," Huo Ruihua said with a smile, "Let dad and mom see how great little three is."

"Really?" Huo Ruifeng’s eyes sparkled with hope. He had thought he was going to get a beating, but instead, not only did his parents not punish him, his brother was going to play football with him.

"Yes, indeed. It’s great to admit mistakes, and to not repeat them. Little three, you are a man, and so is your brother," Huo Yingjie said, "Dad will reward you with a football."

Previously, I was concerned that he was too young and might get hurt, so I never bought a soccer ball.

"Dad, you’re so nice," Huo Ruifeng said, somewhat excitedly.

"Ahem..." He Tiantian cleared her throat to make her presence felt.

"Hehe, Mom is nice too," Huo Ruifeng hurriedly added.

It was then that He Tiantian asked, "Xiaosan, do you like playing soccer?"

"I love it, really love it. Da Huang has a soccer ball, and we all want to play with him," Huo Ruifeng quickly said. "My birthday is coming up soon, can my birthday gift be a real leather soccer ball, not one of those children’s toy soccer balls?"

He Tiantian was somewhat surprised and asked, "Doesn’t playing soccer hurt your feet?"

"It doesn’t hurt, I have shoes on!" Huo Ruifeng replied. "Mom, is it okay?"

He Tiantian nodded, "Alright, I’ll get you a soccer ball."

Huo Yingjie wasn’t opposed to it, as Huo Ruifeng had always loved sports, martial arts, and being more lively than his siblings, running and jumping around.

"This is really great, really great," Huo Ruifeng said, clearly being honest, acknowledging his mistakes, and greatly benefiting from it.

When they got home, Huo Ruifeng ran to his room, took out the toy soccer ball, and played with his brother in the yard.

He Tiantian asked quietly, "Did you not attend the parent-teacher conference because you knew about this?"

Huo Yingjie nodded, "Yes, I overheard Xiaosan and his teacher lying outside. Later the teacher exposed his lie, but Teacher Hua’s approach to education was excellent, saying as long as Xiaosan recognizes his mistake and corrects it, she would keep it a secret and not tell his parents. Since the teacher agreed, I didn’t intervene."

He Tiantian suddenly understood and nodded, "Rather than having parents preach at them, a teacher’s guidance is crucial, but it’s most important for children to truly recognize their own mistakes."

"Yes, I didn’t expect Xiaosan to admit his mistakes to us so quickly," Huo Yingjie said. "As a reward, let’s buy him a soccer ball."

"Are you sure he won’t get hurt?" He Tiantian was still a bit worried, after all, the child was very young.

"Look!" Huo Yingjie pointed outside where their eldest son and youngest son were practicing with the ball, and their daughter was helping to pick it up.

Because of Huo Xiaosan’s matter, his brothers and sister were playing with him.

He Tiantian saw Huo Ruihua drawing several circles on the wall with chalk, and Huo Xiaosan, carrying the toy soccer ball, managing to hit the circles every time, sometimes even those designated by Huo Ruihua.

"My goodness, he’s hitting exactly where aimed," He Tiantian exclaimed in surprise. "It seems he’s left-handed too."

As soon as He Tiantian finished speaking, Huo Xiaosan kicked with his right foot and managed to hit the target as well.

"Oh my, I didn’t realize Xiaosan had a talent for soccer," He Tiantian said. "Should we hire a professional coach to teach him?"

Hearing He Tiantian’s words, Huo Yingjie couldn’t help but smile wryly, "The child is still young, let him follow his own interests for now, let’s talk about it when he’s older. Maybe in a while, he won’t like soccer anymore."

"Hmm, that makes sense. After all, playing soccer is exhausting," He Tiantian nodded. "Let’s talk about it later; I’ll go buy him a soccer ball as a birthday gift."

"We’ll pick one out together this weekend," Huo Yingjie said. "And remember to pay extra attention to the shoes, they can protect his feet."

"Right, that makes sense," He Tiantian nodded. "I will consult the head coach and some soccer coaches for basic knowledge and precautions, to be well-informed."

Huo Yingjie strongly agreed.

For their child, the couple spent thoughtful effort nurturing him.
