The Strongest Onmyoji and the Shikigami With AI are Unparalleled in Another World ~ A Second Life Properly Enjoyed Using Artificial Intelligence ~-Chapter 179 - Individuality
After the first situation, we continued through the wasteland and encountered zombies multiple more times.
There were wolves, of course, but also regular zombies, and I started to think that this was a Zombie Continent, not a Magic Continent.
As we walked, it became noon, so we decided to return to our room for lunch.
Once back in the room, we got into the kotatsu, and Alice and Lily brought lunch, so we started eating.
“How was it?”
While eating lunch, Lily asked.
“Full of zombies. It’s bad.”
“It’s amazing, right? There are regular zombies, but the zombie wolves are something else.”
“This continent is the worst. If Leanne weren’t here, we wouldn’t be able to rest like this, and I definitely wouldn’t want to camp out in a place like that.”
That’s true…
“…Chibi-masu, what’s wrong? Was it not tasty?”
Alice, who must have made the food, asked Leanne, whose meal hadn’t progressed at all.
“No, it’s just… I don’t have much of an appetite…”
Leanne’s face looked slightly pale.
“…What happened?”
Alice tilted her head and looked at me.
“She doesn’t like zombies.”
“…Come to think of it, when the three of us went to the Elf Forest before, she refused to get out of the carriage.”
Ah, when we went with the three of us.
Right, they had said zombies appeared there.
“Leanne, you’ve got to eat something, or you won’t last.”
“Y-yes…”
Leanne slowly, but surely, started eating her meal.
“Leanne isn’t an adventurer, so zombies must be tough for her.”
Lily sympathized.
“Just so you know, I hate them too. I’m just trying not to think about it.”
Annie, as usual, kept eating her food.
“Trying not to think about it, huh…”
“Not everyone is as thick-skinned as you Natalia. I don’t like disassembling regular wolves either. I’d rather be picking grass.”
Natalia, despite being scared, can normally disassemble zombies…
Actually, this morning, she was disassembling the zombies we defeated and collecting the magic stones.
“Well…”
“Well, it’s just a matter of getting used to it.”
Annie seems to be encouraging Leanne.
“Shall we go in the afternoon too?”
“…Yeah. My magic is effective against zombies.”
I guess we’ll do that…
There are a lot of them, after all.
“Alright, I’ll leave it to you. Pamela, sorry, but can you stay behind? Or do you want to come?”
“No, I definitely won’t go. I’ll wait with Tama-chan.”
Pamela nodded with a smile.
It seems like she dislikes zombies even more than Leanne.
Well, that’s probably normal.
After we finished lunch, we increased our numbers and headed toward the Magic Continent.
Then, we proceeded while defeating zombies.
“Master, Crow-chan found a small stream.”
After walking for a while, AI-chan reported.
“A stream, huh?”
“Yes. It’s small.”
“Got it. Let’s go there.”
“Understood. This way.”
We were guided by AI-chan and proceeded.
Then, indeed, there was a river about one meter wide flowing.
“A river, huh… Should we go down it?”
“I think so. Water is essential for human settlements, so there’s a high possibility of a village along the river.”
That’s true.
“Alright, let’s go.”
“Yes.”
We stopped heading north and changed course to the west, downstream of the river.
“Master, I’ve found a settlement that looks like a farming village. It’s about 1 kilometer away from here.”
Upon hearing this from AI-chan, I linked my vision with Crow-chan.
Sure enough, I saw a settlement with several dozen small huts clustered together.
“People are working in the fields too…”
I could see an elderly man tilling the soil.
It’s hard to tell from above, but he’s probably a demon.
“Yes. I can also see a woman doing laundry.”
I can see that too.
Looking at them like this, demons seem no different from ordinary people.
“It looks like an ordinary farming village.”
“What should we do?”
“We want to gather information. Let’s go talk to them. We’ll manage as travelers.”
I’m not sure if we’ll get through as travelers, but in such a small farming village, it should work.
Ideally, I’d want to gather information from a larger town, but before that, I’d like to at least know the basics.
“Yuuma, let’s postpone going to that village until tomorrow. It’s already evening, and if we go now and start talking, it’ll be nighttime. If they ask us to stay over, it would be a hassle.”
While AI-chan and I were discussing things as we watched through Crow-chan’s vision, Annie proposed this from behind us.
“That’s true… Whether they’re saying it out of goodwill or malice, it probably won’t end well.”
Either way, we’ll head home, and I don’t want to linger in a village without an inn while accompanied by a young woman.
“Yuuma-sama, shall we call it a day?”

Leanne asked me.
“Yeah. It’s a bit early, but let’s head back. Finding the settlement on the first day is good enough.”
“Understood. Then, let’s return.”
I dispelled Crow-chan and touched Leanne.
Then, everyone else touched Leanne, and we teleported back to the room.
Once back in the room, I asked Pamela, who had been playing with Tama-chan, to handle the payment and handed her the magic stones.
“There are so many. Are these all zombies?”
The number of magic stones easily exceeded fifty.
“They move in groups. We don’t encounter them that often, but when we do, there are a lot of them.”
“I absolutely don’t want to live on the Magic Continent.”
Me neither.
After settling everything, I sipped the tea Natalia had brewed and took a breather.
“It’s more tiring than I expected. What about tomorrow? You’re going to the village, right?”
Natalia asked.
“Yeah… It’s probably better not to bring a large group. AI-chan, just how effective is Merell’s forgery magic? You mentioned they’d assume we’re demons on their own, but…”
“It doesn’t physically change our appearance, but it makes them perceive us without feeling anything is off. So, our clothes will look normal to them, but it’s better to avoid people who stand out too much…”
AI-chan stared intently at Annie.
“What? Let me just say, your so-called kimonos are pretty eye-catching too.”
We can pass ourselves off as eccentric travelers, but Annie…
Her outfit is stylish, but it’s a bit too flashy.
“Should we go with Natalia?”
“That should be fine, right? With Leanne and I filling the child roles, Alice-san should sit this one out, and Lily-san is way too lively.”
She definitely stands out.
“Natalia, will you come along?”
“Got it.”
Natalia nodded.
“So, we’re staying behind? But you’re just gathering information, so you’ll be leaving soon?”
Annie asked.
“Yeah. Just be ready in case we need to head out. Depending on the information, we might move forward.”
Honestly, it depends on Leanne’s condition.
“Got it. Well, I’m heading out to do some shopping.”
With that, Annie got out from under the kotatsu and stood up.
“That’s unusual.”
“Leanne can’t eat much properly, right? I’ll make something she can eat.”
“Is there such a thing?”
“Like something easy to digest. I’m an apothecary, you know? I can mix medicine and make meals like that.”
Impressive. She could probably make a living just as an apothecary.
“Huh…”
“Anyway, I’m going shopping. Alice, you’re coming with me.”
“…You always drag me along whenever you’re doing something.”
Muttering to herself, Alice got up and crawled out from under the kotatsu.
Then the two of them left the room.
“Leanne, that’s good for you.”
“Yeah… I thought she was just a lazy exhibitionist…”
Well, she’s technically the vice leader of this clan and a caring person.
Though you wouldn’t know it from how she’s been acting lately…
