The Strongest Master Venturing Urban-Chapter 351: The Phone Call That Made Hearts Flutter
Chapter 351: Chapter 351: The Phone Call That Made Hearts Flutter
Not long after, Chen Bin saw that Tan Rongxi was still silent.
He immediately set down his chopsticks and said coldly.
"You don’t need to hesitate any longer. Go. I don’t want to know anymore!"
Hearing this, Tan Rongxi finally panicked.
"I’ll talk, I’ll talk! The reason I haven’t mentioned the relationship between Ye Hong and Cui Yongjuan is mainly for the sake of their child."
Chen Bin paused slightly and frowned.
"Their child—what does that have to do with you?"
Tan Rongxi knew that at this point, there was no sense in hiding anything further.
After all, no matter how pitiful the child was, it couldn’t compare to his own future.
"Their child’s name is Cui Yeye. She was born with intellectual disabilities. I was afraid you’d use the child against them—the child is innocent!"
Tan Rongxi then revealed Cui Yeye’s background.
After hearing everything, Chen Bin was greatly surprised.
"I never expected you’d turn out to be this kind of person."
After letting Tan Rongxi leave, Chen Bin immediately called Cheng Zhuang the next morning.
"Go to Tianhai Special Education School right away. Find a girl named Cui Yeye and confirm her identity. Call me after that."
Cheng Zhuang couldn’t help but ask curiously, "Who is she?"
"Ye Hong’s illegitimate daughter!"
Cheng Zhuang’s eyes widened in shock.
"Then why would she be at the special education school?"
"The child has intellectual problems. Stop asking so much. Just hurry up and go!"
Not daring to delay, Cheng Zhuang drove to Tianhai immediately.
Upon arriving, he identified himself.
Using the pretext of an investigation, he conducted inquiries about the students at the school.
However, after looking at the roster, Cheng Zhuang was dumbfounded.
"Where’s Cui Yeye? Why isn’t she here?"
The administrator quickly responded, "Her mother picked her up yesterday noon, saying they had some business to attend to. She won’t be back for a while."
"What’s Cui Yeye’s mother’s name?"
"Cui Yongjuan."
"Where does she live?"
"I have an address here that was provided when Cui Yeye enrolled, but I’m not sure if they still live there."
The administrator then found the address and handed it to Cheng Zhuang.
After taking a picture of it with his phone, Cheng Zhuang left.
Arriving at the address in the photo, he hesitated but eventually knocked on the door.
However, despite knocking for quite some time, there was no response from inside.
This left Cheng Zhuang uncertain, unsure whether no one was home or the occupants were deliberately not answering.
While contemplating his next move, he spotted an elderly man stepping out of the elevator.
He quickly greeted him with a smile, "Sir, do you know where the people living here went?"
The old man produced a key and started unlocking the door as he asked.
"Why are you looking for me?"
Cheng Zhuang was surprised. "This house is yours?"
The old man nodded repeatedly.
"Has it ever been rented out before?"
"Several years ago, when I was living in the countryside, my son rented it out. Later, he thought I was too old to stay elsewhere, so he gave me this apartment to live in while he moved to a new one."
"Do you know the names of the people who rented it?"
"No, when I moved back, the renters had already left."
After thanking the old man, Cheng Zhuang went downstairs, got into his car, and called Chen Bin to report the situation.
After hearing the report, Chen Bin’s first reaction was that Tan Rongxi had leaked the information.
But upon reflecting, he realized the child had been picked up yesterday at noon, while Tan Rongxi had dinner with him last night.
The possibility of prior warning seemed unlikely.
It appeared Ye Hong felt unsafe and had Cui Yongjuan move the child in advance.
Hanging up the phone, Chen Bin felt frustrated.
If he couldn’t locate the child, he wouldn’t be able to prove the improper relationship between Ye Hong and Cui Yongjuan.
If that happened, he wouldn’t be able to pull Ye Hong down and take his place.
Later that evening, Chen Bin ordered Tan Rongxi.
"No matter what, find Cui Yeye!"
Though Tan Rongxi was resentful, he knew this was Chen Bin’s way of testing him.
If he didn’t put in effort, he might truly be abandoned.
Clenching his teeth, Tan Rongxi reluctantly agreed.
Meanwhile, Cao Sanjin was at home with his wife when he was startled by a sudden phone call.
Looking at his wife’s flirtatious gazes, he didn’t feel like answering.
Yet the phone rang persistently without stopping.
Pulling out his phone, he noticed it was from a former subordinate. Cao Sanjin frowned.
Normally, his ex-subordinates wouldn’t be so inconsiderate.
A late-night call like this clearly meant something urgent.
Taking a deep breath, Cao Sanjin grudgingly picked up the phone.
"What’s the matter? Why call at this hour?"
"Boss, something big happened! Mayor Jiang and her spouse were taken away by the Provincial Disciplinary Inspection Commission."
Hearing this, Cao Sanjin couldn’t help but exclaim.
"When did this happen?!"
"They were taken in after work this afternoon! I just returned from out of town today and heard the news, so I called you immediately."
"How could this happen so suddenly?"
"I’m not sure. You know, people have been filing complaints against Mayor Jiang for years. Maybe they finally obtained some evidence. I called to give you a heads-up."
After hanging up, Cao Sanjin slumped onto the bed, his face a mix of fury and despair.
This year was critical for his potential promotion to governor.
He hadn’t expected something like this to happen now.
Seeing Cao Sanjin motionless for so long, Jiang Ninghan couldn’t help but urge him.
"Honey, keep going. I was just starting to enjoy it."
"Enjoy my ass! Your brother’s going to ruin me!"
Hearing Cao Sanjin’s furious roar, Jiang Ninghan’s expression instantly turned serious.
She sat up abruptly. "What happened to Jiang Pu? Did something happen to him?!"
"Both he and his wife were taken away by the Disciplinary Commission."
"What? What should we do?! Honey, you must save him! I only have one brother..."
Before Jiang Ninghan could finish, Cao Sanjin angrily interrupted her.
"Serves him right—he brought this upon himself! I’ve helped him so many times over the years. Still, he wouldn’t keep his nose clean. Now look—taken away by the Commission!"
Infuriated, Cao Sanjin even pointed at Jiang Ninghan and shouted.
"Let me tell you, if anything happens to me one day, it’ll be because of your brother!"
Faced with his chastising, Jiang Ninghan felt guilty and covered her face as she cried silently.
Already annoyed, Cao Sanjin became even more irritated by her sobbing.
He couldn’t help but snap, "Shut up! If you keep crying, get out!"
Recognizing his anger, Jiang Ninghan clung to him gently, shaking his arm slightly.
"Honey, please save him one last time for my sake. If Jiang Pu makes it through this, I promise I’ll deal with him properly and won’t let him trouble you again."
Seeing his wife’s vulnerable demeanor, Cao Sanjin ultimately sighed.
"This is the last time. If that kid screws up again, don’t blame me for being ruthless!"
