The SSS Ranked Demon King Goes to the Hero Academy-Chapter 42: Going to the Cafeteria.
"Why are you staring at me so much? Are you thinking of doing lustful things to my body for revenge? How repulsive," the girl commented as she covered her body with her arms and looked at Aku with disgust.
The demon king raised an eyebrow at the fairy’s words.
He was knowledgeable and aware of the activities living beings do to reproduce, since he had studied the biological bases of that phenomenon.
However, not feeling any form of sexual desire, being accused of that was disconcerting.
Remembering that Sylvie had already sought and succeeded in getting under Aku’s skin, the demon king decided to refrain from giving importance to the fairy’s words.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about, though I’m curious to know why you have that form. Before you were smaller and had wings. You were like a horsefly, though to be honest you’re still just as annoying as one," the demon king commented, looking at the girl with inexpressiveness in his eyes.
Not getting the response she wanted, the fairy clicked her tongue.
It would surely be harder to get under Aku’s skin from now on.
Sylvie also felt annoyed by the words Aku had said, but if she made a scene it would be hypocritical on her part.
So she simply decided to answer the question the demon king had asked her.
"Isn’t it obvious?" she asked in a mocking tone, repeating the demon king’s characteristic phrase. "I have the ability to adopt an anthropomorphic form. I thought it was obvious, and I’m surprised you didn’t notice until now."
Sylvie’s imitation caused a small tick in Aku’s eye.
For some reason, the demon king was irritated by being imitated.
However, he didn’t lose his composure when responding.
"It’s not that I didn’t notice before. I simply decided to comment on it now," the boy responded. "Besides, fairies are already anthropomorphic beings, so you’ve described your ability incorrectly."
Now it was Sylvie who had the tick in her eye, who couldn’t stand being corrected.
"Don’t be silly! Don’t you understand what I mean? I was saying I took on an appearance even more similar to a human than before, idiot," the girl exploded with annoyance, looking at the demon king with irritation.
Aku simply shrugged.
"Though it can be understood by context doesn’t mean you expressed yourself well. You could have explained it normally from the beginning instead of using terms you don’t actually know," the demon king answered, maintaining his calm attitude and an inexpressive face.
That seemed to get under the fairy’s skin even more, whose face had turned red again.
However, she knew that if she got angry she would be falling into Aku’s game.
And Sylvie couldn’t allow herself to fall into that trap.
"Tch, whatever you say! That doesn’t matter now," Sylvie said as she crossed her arms. "Do you want to visit the Argos? I can give you a tour if you want. After all, there’s still a while before we reach the academy, and I don’t want to spend the rest of the trip arguing."
Aku nodded at that proposal.
He was eager to discover that new "setting."
After all, curiosity was the most growing emotion within him.
"You finally say something I agree with. Maybe your brain isn’t so tiny after all," the demon king answered, letting slip a small insult involuntarily.
Sylvie growled upon hearing those words, certainly feeling annoyed by them, but she also couldn’t give Aku the satisfaction of knowing she was angry, so she kept her emotions to herself.
It was ironic how things had turned around.
At first it was she who was seeking to get under Aku’s skin so he would lose control.
But now it was she who had to seal her emotions to not reveal her emotional weakness.
Though Sylvie found that clearly unfair.
She had every reason in the world to insult Aku.
He was the demon king, a malevolent being destined to destroy the world.
A being who killed the hero and all his companions.
She knew how good Alexander was, plus he was someone Sylvie greatly appreciated.
Seeing how someone not only killed that precious friend but also parasitized his body and usurped his identity was truly overwhelming.
In fact, the very fact of seeing and hearing Alexander being controlled by another being was extremely unpleasant for her.
It was a storm of emotions too horrible that could only be sustained by her thirst for vengeance. If not for that, Sylvie would have collapsed.
That’s why the fairy saw insulting Aku as fair, but it was unfair that the demon king dared to do the same to her.
Why did he keep tormenting her?
Wasn’t what she had had to suffer already enough?
"Well, I’m waiting for you," the demon king said, pulling her from her thoughts.
The woman turned, glaring at the demon king, internally cursing the lack of empathy the demon king showed.
Though deep down she knew her behavior was childish.
"Hello, are you okay? Did you use all your neuronal capacity thinking up that idea?" the boy insisted, snapping his fingers to hurry her up.
Sylvie frowned.
She wasn’t childish. It was Aku who simply got under her skin.
"I’m not your servant or your lapdog to go around following orders, okay? Don’t rush me," the fairy responded with annoyance as she began walking. "First I’ll take you to the cafeteria. It’s the room closest to here."
Sylvie commented as she opened the room door.
Aku nodded as he followed her, resisting making any more offensive comments.
He was getting the hang of making comments of that type, though he didn’t want to keep bothering Sylvie, fearing that if he irritated her too much, she would end up refusing to take him around the Argos.
Though it was also true that Sylvie wasn’t that necessary to explore the Argos. He could do it alone, though it was true to comment it would be more inefficient.
So it was preferable to keep his mouth shut for now.
Aku followed the girl through some hallways until they finally reached what seemed to be the right place.
"We’re here. I suppose that being locked up your whole life in an old castle, you’ve never seen anything like this," the girl commented as she opened the cafeteria door.
Aku wasn’t bothered by that comment. Rather, he felt expectation grow.
What awaited him behind that door?
