The SSS Ranked Demon King Goes to the Hero Academy-Chapter 35: The Final Battle of the Trial. (3)
The darkness swirled around Aku like a great tornado that sucked everything to its side.
At the same time, Aku was putting pressure on Ariel, attacking not only with his arsenal of weapons but also summoning tentacles of darkness with the intention of capturing her.
Still, Ariel proved to be incredibly agile in the air.
She flew on her staff as if it were a magic broom, performing pirouettes and acrobatics in the air.
She was a difficult opponent, or at least very slippery.
She summoned multiple shields to deflect weapons, making catching her even harder.
However, suddenly the music changed.
The song began with a gothic style. An organ played harmoniously, filling the space with a majestic melody.
Clouds began invading the sky, hiding the sun.
They were black, stormy clouds.
The air began to cool and become more violent.
In an instant, a new air tornado formed, violent and aggressive.
This tornado began approaching Aku’s darkness, spinning in the opposite direction.
In turn, around the girl formed a sphere of air that spun at an unthinkable speed.
It was a mass of air currents spinning at an incredible speed, an atmospheric shield that began deflecting Aku’s projectiles.
Several thunderbolts began falling from the sky, destroying the tentacles of darkness.
These didn’t destroy by heat but by the light they emitted.
Thus destroying Aku’s offensive.
Meanwhile the two tornadoes fought each other, but Aku’s had a clear advantage.
The reason?
The darkness of [Nyargoohl] was a much denser substance than air.
A conventional tornado wouldn’t be enough to destroy that phenomenon.
But Ariel was prepared for that.
She hadn’t expected it to be so easy to stop that phenomenon after all.
Suddenly the music became more intense.
A choir made up of Ariel’s voice multiple times began to sound.
It wasn’t an Earth language but a magical dialect used to generate mystical phenomena.
The spell strengthened. Now four large tornadoes were formed around Aku’s spinning abyss of darkness.
The "air" was actually a simple illusory representation of reality. It was the crystallization of a mystical phenomenon.
Its now-increased power began surpassing Aku’s.
The demon king didn’t despair in that stormy prison. Instead, he began focusing his attacks on the tornadoes.
Weapons shaped like spinning drills, swords capable of cutting and dividing air, explosive spears.
All kinds of weapons were launched toward the tornadoes seeking to destabilize or destroy them.
The barrages of weapons pierced through the air currents, weakening them in certain places but didn’t seem enough to destroy them.
Moreover, now that he had stopped pressuring Ariel, she no longer had to worry about defending herself.
"Heh, looks like you’re in a tight spot," the woman mocked as the air shield around her dissipated.
The girl began flying over the place. She was undoubtedly witnessing a scene worthy of being called a work of art.
Four wind tornadoes trying to enclose a fifth tornado made of darkness.
However, Ariel knew she couldn’t get overconfident. She had to end the fight as soon as possible.
The music began to change. The classical sound began metamorphosing with rock.
Now the organ and electric guitar resonated in unison.
The sky became more violent. Black lightning began falling from the sky, striking Aku’s tornado of darkness with fury.
The demon king noticed this. His strategy wasn’t working. He had to change plans.
His tornado spun at great speed, but it was being slowed by the other tornadoes. He had to do something.
Then it occurred to him. He deformed [Nyargoohl] again, making "thorns," or rather blades, begin protruding from the tornado.
The tornado’s movement began becoming more unstable, more curved. It was no longer a conventional tornado but something more complex.
The curvature in its silhouette destabilized the other tornadoes, but it wouldn’t be enough to destroy them, though he didn’t want that anyway.
Aku kept molding the column of darkness and at one point, the tornado twisted.
The great spinning column of darkness suddenly accelerated and stretched sideways, twisting while the top part began sucking air.
The tornado now looked like a devouring worm which began absorbing the clouds and air.
But that didn’t stop there. The darkness worm stretched violently toward Ariel, creating a powerful suction.
"Shit!" the redhead cursed as she accelerated at high speed.
However, at that moment, all the weapons Aku had launched began moving.
They began shooting from top to bottom, forming a kind of wall that blocked the girl’s exit.
"Tch, how annoying," the girl complained as she pointed her finger at the wall of weapons.
Multiple black lightning bolts fell in a chain, destroying the multiple weapons accelerating toward the sky.
However, it was already too late.
The air began creating suction on her. The "worm" was closer than ever.
The girl looked at the worm. She simply had to manipulate the air around her to combat that force, but then the music altered.
The scores floating around her began destabilizing. The music and voices distorted before Ariel’s confused gaze.
"What’s happening?" the agitated woman wondered.
She didn’t know it, but all this time Aku had been analyzing her.
Anyone would have found it obvious that Ariel’s power came from music, but to counteract that, Aku had to apply some "chaos."
Ariel’s magic had been distorted, altered.
Chaos was a perfect poison to contaminate ordered and complex systems. That melodic harmony Ariel was creating was an easy victim for something like chaos.
Even if the essence of chaos was sealed in that place, it only took using that "destabilizer" at precise moments to make everything collapse.
Ariel froze. Her only weapon had been eliminated, which left her confused, very confused.
But it was already too late to react.
The worm had reached critical distance, and the suction was too strong to fight against.
"KYAAAA!" Ariel screamed as she fell into the "worm’s" jaws.
The darkness blades spun inside like a toothed hell, a merciless shredder.
And when Ariel’s body fell into that abyss, it suffered a fate... very bloody.
